Imagine the clusterfuck when you try to send 10BTC from earth to mars, with current fees and delayed confirms add almost 8 hours between the time of you sending the transaction, by the time it reaches the destination 200 blocks are already mined.

Now once more imagine you are on BU network and in the middle of the solar system BU nodes crashing and by the time devs notice it and try to fix it users are screwed.

But I think we'll solve the issue of limitation of speed of light and will transfer Bits billion miles away in less than a second using quantum leap.

I am also just wandering will astronauts need bitcoin or other money in their travelling through the Universe?

They are not totally detached from the real world. If an astronaut's wife has shopping bills, they have to be paid.
And yes, all they have to do is get their bitcoin transaction broadcast to the internet. Voila, they have used bitcoins in space.

Just curious, since the Internet is mostly an Earthly thing... would astronauts be able to access and transfer their Bitcoins whilst traveling throughout the solar system?
I think no because the internet is only transmitted in the earth only and where do astronauts would use there bitcoins if there are at the outer space. In this kind of situation their mission is to study what is out there on earth not to earn bitcoin.
in present time i think the science is not yet too much advance to let us visit space as for trip or tour and to use bitcoin there for shopping in space, therefore i do not think that bitcoin can be use in space. but hope that very soon it will be trading in my own country and even in my own area which one of the most backward area of my country.

I guess it depends how many light years away you are. Unless you put internet towers at the entrance to black holes then it can go pretty far. If you dont believe me watch the move and tv series Stargate Smiley

That’s pretty hilarious, having an Internet Tower next to a Black Hole will only cause more issue with the Internet connection rather than helping it. Pretty much anything that is in-front of a Black Hole will get ripped to shreds and I am pretty sure that there would be a major disturbance with the Internet waves if a Black Hole is even miles from its disastrous range.
The light years part may be correct though, I would want to try that theory one day.

You mean Stargate is not true!? Oh no!  Ok then out it in front of a worm hole like on Star Trek Next Generation that would work for sure! := )

You just raised an issue that could bring more credence and added value to Bitcoin. Most astronauts are in orbit for months and it would surely be appealing if they be able to stay on top of their finances even while in space, something Bitcoin can seamlessly accomplish. Lets sell the idea to NASA Grin they will make a good case for Bitcoin.
On whether they could communicate the signals? Why not? They have been communicating with earth all these while.

Bitcoin works on a digital technology platform, it depends entirely on internet data. So, no matter where they are in the space, just as they can connect to the internet, they can use bitcoin easily. In fact, traveling the entire solar system at the present moment is impossible, our technology can not meet.

Yes, and as long they have internet connections and communications signals to earth then it is very possible. BTW, Internet is also present in space, I remember astronauts sent tweets from space before.
Does they have really retweeted before? Or i mean can they do that on the space? Well i guess if they can it is a really cool thing to do but of course in reality bitcoin is used with an internet data, you cannot used it with just free data only , you need to have internet data. And yes if they do have internet connections there then yes they could used bitcoin in the space yay

This question made me smile anyway,  because I was thinking about that how come that bitcoin use in the outer space.
What is that? Are they planning to get encourage the aliens to adopt the system of bitcoin.  Grin
But I think that is possible as long as there is an internet connection bitcoin can be use that way.

i think its negative, they cannot use this because, we need an internet connection to browse and make transaction with these, this is a cryptocurrency in order for us to use this we need a device and an internet connection as well. i think there's no such thing like internet in the outer space because there are no internet service provider their, and there is no tower there to reach out for signals.

They can still use bitcoin through an internal server, but unfortunately can only be used by the same server, although this title seems strange but I imagine about future life in outer space, Bitcoin is currently only used by earth man and I think it would be a unifying currency between galaxies if human beings were able to build an extraterrestrial life order

As far as I know, BItcoin is an electronic currency, based on blockchain technology, so it requires internet connection to use Bitcoin. Astronauts in outer space can also contact people on Earth, so I think they also have the internet and of course, when there is internet, Bitcoin can be used easily. But go around the solar system, I think it's unlikely that, it will take a long time and require very modern technology, we are not qualified to do that

If astronauts do have access to the internet then they can use bitcoins wherever they are in space. But I'm not an astronaut nor do I know any astronauts so that question of yours would be indefinite not unless there is someone here who could attest of astronauts having access to the internet.

So long as we are able to setup internet in space Bitcoin can be used there and I might be th first to set up "the space exchange". Lol

It would be pretty easy to scan QR codes in space with the lasers on our space ships.

You would really need a laser from a space ship to scan a qr code when a 4 years old smartphone can do that?

Let's hope it can be used. It is possible the astronauts may need to purchase some stuffs from the aliens in space and bitcoin would come in handy right? Grin and that is as long as they can access their wallet in space!

Let's hope we will not come in contact with aliens too soon, even if they are friendly.
And it also might happen that they have a different type of currency that is superior to ours.

I think yes, bitcoin can be used in space if there are connection of internet because as we know bitcoin be used on internet
although in the space we still can use bitcoin,
unfortunately I am not astronout so it is still just speculation and i don't know if there are comunity of bitcoin in space
or they are astronout, all of people in here still speculation.  Grin

Bitcoin can be used in space because it is not that physical item that needed to be held everytime. It is only on the phone and if you have internet connection in the space then you can both send and receive money from the earth back to the space. I think bitcoin is one of the best currency that can be used when the people will move to mars.

Yes, one day Bitcoin can also be adopted by aliens and they can take their supplies from us here on Earth. By then, the price of Bitcoin can hit a literal astronomical value. However, they might also be introducing their own AlienCoin or a SpaceCoin and they can use them to trade with Bitcoin too. It would be a real Star War kind of thing and I am sure many fans are looking forward for this to really happen.
