Try to look at the current feature have by those AI it shows that they only have data's from past events and cannot give a real time information. So there's nothing to worry about AI thing since if your skilled in poker game still you have  advantage to win over those guys trying to use it.

But maybe later on AI could be advance on everything and this is more dangerous or sometimes beneficial so let see what will be the future updates on this technology.

as of now, human poker players still have the advantage over AI. as AI is based on what database they have, history and info from the players, they are quite limited when it comes to actual game.
but of course, we can't disregard such possibility as we know technology is evolving fast. we don't know to what extent can AI be developed into this industry. so we can't conclude this early to how AI will influence this side of industry.

Reading another post, it crossed my mind that AIs and particularly ChatGPT could potentially be trained with a large samples of games played by poker champions and then put it to auto-play with amateur on-line players. If this is successful, it could mean the end of human on-line poker playing except perhaps for the world masters and the like. Has anyone tried? Would it be possible??

the development of AI continues to occur, but along with that the development of AI detectors and anti-AI also emerges, so when AI is able to become a great poker player, I'm sure many gambling sites that prohibit the use of AI or add rules will ban users who use AI, so for players who  really master poker, no need to worry about the emergence of AI.

It's chat GPT guys.

Anyway, I haven't tried it associated with gambling and mainly with poker because I don't think that there's some other version of it that's available ready to be applied in any poker game.

And with such descriptions that these AI tools will never stop learning, maybe in the nearest time of the future. We'll see people having it on as a tool for them to play easy poker but is it the one that's gonna decide for them whenever they're in their tables? Hmmm... Interesting.

Chat GTP can not give an accurate answer to games result and this hace been the limitations with AI because their lack the basic necessities to act outside human contribution so ultimately AI can not function on poker with out the player making some efforts to contribute to the outcome of the game that should favor the player.

There have been alot of hype about the abilty of the AI to outrightly out perform human efforts, but recent discovery points to the fact that human efforts is still required for a resourceful successful results.

I created that thread that you are talking about and it pose the same question. In any way.... I used some DICE strategies that ChatGPT suggested and it all failed. The AI as it is now, simply use human inputs to mix and match certain algorithms and does not really come up with something new.

Online Poker does not use 3 or 4 packs of Poker cards, like they do in Poker contests..... so card counting will not work. It can learn how to play and then it will apply the same strategies that people use.... so I guess online Poker hosts will use some kind of verification system to see if it is AI or humans on the other end... in the future.  Wink

I think it may be the temporary fake in the personification of a real player.

Let's go back to the essence of GTP chat (today's fashion) and AI, well! There is that say is not issue new, in fact bots have been used forever and are a plague for casinos, not now since its inception.

Now, one must then look for sites that offer the guarantee that one plays against rivals that do not take advantage of certain additional resources such as AI and additional elements.

AI may be a problem (maybe)  for many today, well not Really, but it is only the tip of the iceberg. In fact, many well-known poker casinos have prohibited the use of software that collects information from players. Then, many years ago it was said (still is said) that many Players couldn't make decisions without these supporting software.

In other words, this ability to know what your rival is going to do in a certain situation can be calculated through these software while you play, there are at least 20 data that you can read in a few seconds, in fact there came a time when the cash tables they stopped being profitable for that very fact, everyone knew what to do correctly and I'm talking about the beginning of the 21st century and it wasn't AI.

Anyway, nothing happens, the game will continue and the casinos simply ban these accounts that are suspected of using AI.  Another example of that is chess.com, cheaters abound there but the system detects them.

So the answer is no, online poker has had more complex problems.

Edit
I have not used ChatGPT before, but I think they are used to make some task possible which is related to chatting and fetching out the suitable answers from elsewhere. I have only learned about how it can be used in trading and not other places, so my answer may not be accurate at all. Also even if it can be used for other things, I do not think it can be up to what you are talking about, but there might be some AI that can be used for that purpose. You can correct me if I am wrong because my knowledge on AI is very little.

Neither one nor the other, You is OFF-T.

GPT this, GPT that. If yoou take a good look at chatGPT you'll notice that those in-charge of the project didn't even promote it that much it was you and I that helped them in the promotion the same way we are also promoting it with this thread of yours, yeah, I know that's nto the aim of this thread but just take a secinds to think about it.

As for the Op itself, I don't think it's going to be a easy task to get it to do something like that remember that poker is not like football where you can already analyse the whole game based on the individual players of a team, since poker is a game of skills it will be difficult but if we're just basing it on amatuers as you mentioned then it migth become doable.
Those in charge of the project didn't even need to promote it much since they created something that deserved to be liked and spread around the world without much promotion. ChatGPT is a useful tool and it didn't just break the record of applications or software or services from big tech companies of gaining 1 million users within a span of 5 days for nothing.

When there is a technology or a creation that deserves appreciation, we should show some appreciation for that.
To OP, I don't really think ChatGPT is made for that and it will probably still not be able to beat humans even if you train it with all the game data available on the internet.

It is possible that it can be trained but we are not sure how, have you tried playing poker using the Chat GPT. What I have tried before is to play poker with it but I really can't understand or it is hard to understand poker when it is in text mode. What else we can do with this AI I think this kind of thing is really helpful in so many ways.

I don't think ChatGPT no matter how well trained can be able to beat human intelligence. No matter how much information you feed to it I doubt it can be winning against real human intelligence and that is easy to explain, the human brain is much more complicated and much more powerful.Let me make you a clear example, when we tie our shoes our brain goes in a much more complex state than any artificial intelligence so far and this for me will remain to be so,much better intelligence from us humans compared to this ChatGPT and alike programs, this will remain the same also in Poker so we should not worry at all.

I believe that there is just a big hype behind AI and a whole series of ad hoc messages released by various media campaigns are trying to sell this technology as something "incomparable".
I don't believe at all that we are so close to systems that are so strong that they beat human nature in itself.
Undoubtedly, this technology is overestimated and can only be called hype. The possibilities of Chat GTP are exaggerated. Some are afraid that AI will enslave all of humanity and take over the world, but gamblers are afraid that Chat GTP will destroy online poker. Smiley At least we don't expect the poker chips AI to revolt any time soon, so play easy and don't worry about it. Smiley

Looks like you wrote the title of the thread with a bit of a mistake buddy so it will make new users who don't understand it feel confused.

I'm not sure Al can be trained to play poker and used to beat online poker.
Al is just an artificial intelligence that we can't possibly rely on as a whole to make bets on a poker game found in online casinos.
Maybe this kind of idea is quite interesting because it can help and give hope to those who always experience defeat in every game.
But the question is, if indeed anyone can make Al in such a way as to beat online poker games, are they mostly gamblers able to adopt Al in order to be able to bet and win online poker?

Lol. I recommend everyone to watch this video.

Is AI Killing Poker? Phil Galfond

The bottom line is that he is moderately optimistic.

Bots have been around for a long time and in recent years artificial intelligence tools applied to poker have been improved, but for the moment I'm still not a professional (but a regular) and I still have no problem making a profit from poker on a regular basis.

Even in a hypothetical scenario in which AI tools would be used massively online (a scenario that is not going to happen) there will always be poker in person. And anyway, online poker has already been a leverage in terms of technology because regular and professional players use statistics programs, calculators, equity, solvers... these are all tools that did not exist 30 years ago. We can't complain about a step forward in technology.

The amount of information that ChatGPT holds is up to September 2021.
this isn't relevant because they are developing chatgpt to learn and analyze images. It will get to the point in the future where we can just feed images and it will give us instant results making it a tool for developers to make a AI poker bot.

Yes, it will get to that point in the future. For now, it can't make predictions of future events past the point of September 2021. So, unless you are inputting each of your hands, as well as the bets at each time as well as all events during the flop, turn and river, then you can't use it to play the game in real-time. If the inputs are being done manually then sure, it's possible...but without extremely advanced coding capabilities to input this data quickly into ChatGPT at the point of each decision, then it's not possible. Even with images, you still need to input all of the events that happen from the moment the hand begins, which you will need much more than just an image to do.

The amount of information that ChatGPT holds is up to September 2021. I do not believe that it can make decision in real-time. It may be able to assist players in finding the probability of their hands to win, which might improve their chances and their EV. However, it would take a lot of coding to be able to train ChatGPT to learn poker, create parameters for it to follow a specific strategy, and to make it work as quickly as it takes for a player to act on their decisions during the game. I do not believe that all of this is possible yet (at least not without significant expertise) though I have no doubt it will be possible in the future. It still won't allow you to form a perfect strategy though as I believe human emotion and varying strategy is the only way to create an edge in poker. A coded ChatGPT poker strategy would eventually become predictable and would lose its edge against players relatively quickly if the opponents are savvy and analyzing the behavior and strategy of other players.

Before ChatGPT make some noise in the mainstream media there's already Deepstack, Libratus and Pluribus to name a few selected successful AIs that really played with professional poker players and they actually win. AI has way more beyond capabilities than what human can grasp and they're being trained and won't have any exhaustion as long as it's already stored in their memory. So, it's totally possible.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/bernardmarr/2019/09/13/artificial-intelligence-masters-the-game-of-poker--what-does-that-mean-for-humans/amp/
These AI foll0w a set of algorithm, if their opponent is able to crack them or know their pattern, it would easily get beaten by human.  Human's decision making and strategy making is far wider than AI which is limited according to the code implanted to them.  So AI cannot function very well than the human mind in terms of decision making and strategy creation.  AI may win on the early games but once they were cracked, they don't stand a chance against human's mind.
Crack trillion of hands or patterns? That Pluribus AI was totally an out of this world AI and it can participate on multiplayer poker and that was a no joke tbh of achievement for AI. Yeah, it can be cracked but that would take years before that happens imo. Moreover, let's state the fact that AI can beat this kid of plays even it includes human decisions.

I don't think ChatGPT or any AI would completely destroy/takeover online poker. Sure, AI can be trained to play poker really well, but there are a couple of things to consider. First, poker's not just about the cards or the math, it's also about reading people and bluffing. Now that's one thing the AI's doesn't understand and also something they "can't" do. I doubt ayn AI would be able to mimic human "emotions"/"Bluffs". AI might be able to handle the numbers, but it's gonna have a hard time with those human elements. And then most of the online platforms are well equipped to counter/find out those bots. There are already trained bots, but they go get caught very easily.

That is one positive thing for AI, they can't be affected by bluff since they have no emotions.  the only thing that concerns me is that the AI may have the information of its opponent's cards in hand and the possible incoming cards making it to have an advantage against its opponent.  But in fair play, I doubt that AI can outwit human being even though the AI is implanted with the ability to learn from its opponent.  Without an understanding of emotions, Ai will find it confusing to read a person's actions.

that's where they will be missing out. reading the opponent. however, the AI can get info from the history of the player, especially if he is a well-known one. his moves and his attitude, if it is available over the net. now, if the AI will play against to a never-heard player with no history, AI can't read such opponent. so for me, there's limitation to how much can AI play with human opponents. it still depends on how much info they have in their database.

To be honest I became very curious, how does ChatGPT work. is it true that it can be trained, how sophisticated is ChatGPT? as I said in some posts, to be honest I've never used ChatGPT. so, please understand if I don't really know how big the potential of ChatGPT is in gambling. this is very interesting, if I listen to what you say.

But it seems that it is not as easy as we say, because after all, machines or artificial intelligence technology cannot think rationally like us humans. I mean, maybe it can work like most gambling bots especially in poker games. however, the results are not optimal. even then, does not guarantee victory. the question is, roughly how does it work if you have this conclusion. anyway, I don't think this will work at all.
