I don't see why not. Having one thread for everything seems counter-productive. I mean, the Dutch have their own subforum and every single one of us is able to speak English, but that doesn't mean we always want to.

The official language of the Philippines is English. It has several pigin languages and many more dialects. They don't need their own section.

Actually we can really use a separated section for the Philippines because it's easier to communicate in our own language which is tagalog. Not all bitcoin users knows that there are filipinos in here unless they spot one so yea. It'll be helpful for us to have one so we can talk using our own language which will make it easier for us to understand each other. Please see through this.

Can the Philippines PLEASE get their own sub-section?

Not a day goes by without this popping up, 1/4M views (#2 has 100K)... Pretty please?

See: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/pilipinas-philippines-27736

PS I don't have any STAKE in this, I'm from Europe and don't even speak the language. I just notice this topic having daily attention and growing bigger and bigger... So this seemed like a good suggestion.
Steak is a fancy dinner you consume. Stake is having a vested interest in something. I corrected your misspelling. Please don't misspell things again as it bothers many people. Thank you.

Also, I vote that the asian islands that the Philippines are considered a part of get their own section. My sister's boyfriend is from the Philippines, he seems like a nice boy. Only weird thing is he calls himself "Pogi" which apparently means "you hot stuff" back in the homeland. Don't know if I want my sister with that type of guy.

Im fine with the current status of Philippine thread but Im not against of having the Philippine thread get its section.

The only advantage that we Pinoys can get is , the thread can be easily find. (Yes , when Im new here , it took some time before I realized that there is a Pinoy thread here)

My only concern is the thread starter in PH section is not active anymore . His / her last post on that thread is way back 2013 but I think he / she is just around. His / her last logged was on May 2015. The first page is not organized and not properly indexed. I just want a thread that have topic indexed and useful thread linked in the first post to be able to our newbies to see some useful link upon first time visit. It's common in some forum. It's a big help to PH newbies in btc world.

[...] Gents: how come we're discussing the use of the Spanish language in a topic on a possible sub-section for the Philippines?   Undecided
Unless you have a bad understanding of english i think its pretty clear why we discussed about the spanish subforum, spanish language being the third most spoken language means that a lot of spanish speakers would be around the forum and if the subforum of spain its almost empty probably the philippines one would be as well, you understand now?

No, because:

1. This is a topic on a Philippines sub-section and therefore has NOTHING to do with Spanish; and,

2. There are a lot of sub-fora with less native speakers than Spanish (for instance Croatian) that ARE active; and,

3. By your logic there should only be two languages allowed on BCT: English and Chinese; and,

4. As I said in the OP the Philippines topic actually is quite busy with daily activity and "1/4M views (#2 has 100K, Croatian had just over 200K)".

So please stay on topic. I asked nicely twice now, all off topic reply's will be reported from now on...

I hope both this English as well as the "pretty clear" logic were clear enough for you and "you understand now"? (Returning the courtesy.)

1. Thats like discussing about weed legalization and then telling us we shouldnt discuss about alcohol or tobacco because we are discussing about weed legalization.

2. There are no sub forums that are active at all, not even the one you mentioned, https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=201.0 This one? its as dead as the spanish one and the others have like what, 3 or 4 topics that are updated each day at most

3. My logic is that it wouldnt hurt no one to have one but also it's probably not needed

4. And thats why i mentioned the spanish section.

So please report me what you want, that wont make you right.

I don't believe in denial.
[...]About the Philippines subsection, I think we already have that? But it's just a single thread wherein Filipinos discuss random topics about bitcoins and some other off-topic discussions. I hail from the Philippines and I can fairly say that there are some bitcoin movements happening around here. Idk, the mods and the admin should be the one to decide on this matter because it seems that my kababayans (countrymen) are contented on having a single thread and discuss about bitcoin with their kababayans.

Thank you for your constructive contribution. Yes, I'm talking about a separate section. One thread can become quite messy and I am noticing quite some activity. So if your "kababayans" can separate the discussions in several topics the overview (and information/knowledge preservation) could improve.

But that's not the case. Even though Spanish is the third most widely-spoken language in the world, that doesn't necessarily mean that Spanish-speaking people will join the forum and be interested in bitcoin.

If it is that big it probably should, i can tell you that, for example, the spanish section is pretty much abandoned and theres only a few people talking there so i really dont see any reason not to make that one, in any case delete the spanish one

It's strange what you say about spanish. It is the third most spoken language and the second one most learned. I would await that this language is more widely used because of that. I mean bitcoiners live everywhere. I don't see a reason why spanish speaking people should use bitcoin less more.

Im pretty sure its because the main forum its in english so there is really no point to go into the spanish subforum or any other subforum as long as you know a little bit of english and everyone knows the basics
