@Harizen

It's not a matter of harm its a matter of need and the required resources and issues associated with adding a new Sub Forum. You've made a huge case for "want" but not for the need.

Until you show a need, as in a hundred of users expressing interest instead of a dozen, you won't get a sub-forum.

Thanks for the support of the high ranks here. Hope someday admins will grant our long time request. Having a sub section will really help us to organize some various different topics that all mixed and spread out in a single thread and also a big help for those Pinoy Bitcoiners from provinces that using their native language.

So basically you want to recreate the whole forum in Tagalog?

Every literate Filipino speaks English and can already use the forum in the exact manner you claim that only a Tagalog forum can provide. Furthermore the forum stats do not support the usage claims you make.

Fact is less than 20 of you account for 95% of the post in the Philippine thread.

New sub forum is not needed.

~BCX~

It is not hard to do a backread.

From the looks of it the "Skandinavisk" sub-section has a total of 4,360 replies to a total of 720 threads, for a total of 5,080 posts (+- 40 threads). When compared to the Phillippines thread, which has 8,867 replies, the Skandinavisk section looks even smaller then it is.

I would have serious doubts about most people being able to find any kind of relevant information that was posted an unknown amount of time ago.[...]

This is what this discussion should be about...

All other things (which topics and in what language) are manageable in a Philippines sub-section.

But the numbers speak for themselves; Philippines should have their own sub-section.

New sub forum is not needed.

Where is the harm in adding one, though ?

THIS!

That's a load of crap; I am active in several other languages (like: Dutch, Croatian and Serbian) and they ALL have worse stats than the Philippino thread, but Croatian and Dutch DO have an own sub-section. And if you look at Hebrew - for instance - that sub-forum can go on for weeks without ANY activity.

Yes in that instance I did mean to return his initial swipe at me.

I have  FB but mainly use Weibo and Renren. I will check it out.

Sometimes, it's better to consider all things first before you go out and shook your head and disagree to an evident fact. We wouldn't be this persistent to push such a proposal if there are no enough interests on the matter.

I already responded to the bolded sentence in another post. I used the wrong word. I meant "employed" instead of "owned".  While I speak English very fluently I still get words mixed up especially when switching back and forth of posting in several different forum sites in three different languages.

No insult meant.

~BCX~

Oh really, I just hope so.

Poor Nanay couldn't afford to send him to primary school.

It's not his fault.

I'll just leave it here.

You see, not all of us are great and efficient when it comes to communicating with English, that's why we demand for our own local sub-forum in which we could freely discuss anything about bitcoins using the language/s we are familiar with and capable of speaking fluently and without the context or substance of our statement being lost. Have you ever gone to the Facebook group of bitcoiners in the Philippines? Well you should consider creating an account in Facebook if you haven't got one and I'll invite you in there to see that there is enough interest about bitcoins.

Can the Philippines PLEASE get their own sub-section?

Not a day goes by without this popping up, 1/4M views (#2 has 100K)... Pretty please?

See: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/pilipinas-philippines-27736

PS I don't have any steak in this, I'm from Europe and don't even speak the language. I just notice this topic having daily attention and growing bigger and bigger... So this seemed like a good suggestion.

I agree with u completely, they are like crazy. I try to read what they are posting so much and what they are talking about, but i dont understand nothing. Sometimes its hard to find something on english between all this Filipin people.

I believe that any language should be able to get its own section. It would make life 100x easier.

I guess the part that sucks is that BCT is not a consensus ruled kind of place😛

Waray speakers that can't speak Tagalog or English are usually illiterates from Samar.

The Bisaya that can't are usually from the provinces of Cebu.

Debate it all you like but refer to Article XIV Section 7 of the Philippine Constitution of 1987.

BTW, I grew up in Tai Po and we owned several domestic helpers from Samar LOL

~BCX~

Bold text show some *love* for us. Also, don't keep on stressing that we should look up in sec. 7 of Art. XIV, as I'm very much familiar with that. It states that the official language/s of the Philippines is Filipino, and English comes into play only if it is provided by law.

Still, I don't get it why you need to throw some insults to us just because you don't want or you don't feel the need for a Filipino child board here in this forum.

New sub forum is not needed.

Where is the harm in adding one, though ?

I can't even see one too, and up to now, upon reading some pages of this thread, I'm wondering why he strongly disagrees on having another child board in the local section dedicated to Filipinos, up to the point that he is stating semi-racist comments.

Semi racist?

English is codified into Philippine law as the official language. All primary students gave to pass a profiency test in English for the past 40+ years. The only Filipinos that don't speak English are the ones that did not attend school, HENCE being illiterate.

Have you noticed how well these Filipinos post in English here?

Lastly Filipino is not s race, Asian is a race.

I wonder why hurling insults and semi-racists comments have been involved in just a discussion about a group of people who represents their country and wants their local child board in this forum? You can still look into the thread everyday and see how much activity is that single thread getting from different users. And, Quickseller's analogy between the Skandinavisk's and Filipino's hub in this forum is true, and you can actually see it for yourself.

I don't see what the issue is with not giving Filipinos their own sub... Seems like a no-brainer to me.

It is a big thing coming from guys like you who have legendary status on supporting our cause in obtaining a sub-forum for the Philippines  here in our forum.
Thanks again for your support!

I'm afraid I'll have to agree - once more - with Bruno... eh... I mean Gleb...  Tongue

The official language of the Philippines is English. It has several pigin languages and many more dialects. They don't need their own section.

I would like to correct you here. I'm a Filipino, and Filipino is our official language, not English, though in some other encyclopedias and atlases, English is written as an official language of the Philippines, which is plainly wrong because in the 1935 Constitution of the Philippines, former president Manuel L. Quezon declared that Filipino is the official language of the Philippines, nothing more. English is widely-spoken here, but no, it isn't the official language of our country.
Filipino is the National language. All official government business is in English. It's like Canada with two official languages.

If theymos were Filipino, then such a section would have already been created, but since he's fond of Esperanto...  Tongue
