I have seen quite a few coins that proclaim to be the next Ethereum, but so far the next Etherum has not come along and toppled the current one. Some ideas look great on paper but don't necessarily work out in the real world, and Cardano have a lot of promises to deliver on before we can make a proper judgement.
It is difficult to make that happen when the value of the ADA is very small compared to ETH, which is widely used and takes a lot of time and effort!
Coin Cardano still needs to evolve, to introduce a platform with smart contracts, to gain popularity. Ethereum already has this, and in the near future this coin will also be improved, it plans to introduce the Plasma project, which should solve the problem with the scalability of this coin. If Cardano and compare ever with ethereum, it will not be soon. In the meantime, I think it's too early to talk about this. Moreover, these coins can simply coexist with each other.
Cardano is an interesting and powerful project, but it can not become a competitor for ETH. The level of ETH development is much higher than Cardano. But ADA can bring us a good profit.

When viewed from the price, I am not sure ADA will have a high value and be able to defeat Eth. But when viewed from the market cap, there is a possibility that ADA will grow well. Because of that, ADA should be considered as a long-term investment.

I am one of those who believe in the potential of ADA, but not to destroy Ethereum. Even though in their development they could have made it happen for several reasons prices always fluctuate. Yes, the presence of cardano is really a big threat to ether and maybe bitcoin. At present ethereum only has extra strength in overcoming threats posed by ADA.
