I have a weird problem with calculating the percentage of stales. When I check my results in CGMiner, I see around 145000 Accepted shares with 26 Stales. If I calculate the percentage of stale based on the above accepted shares, I get 0.02%.

But When I check my CGWatcher screen. It says, my accepted is 283 and stale is 26 which makes it over 8%.

I can't figure out how this calculation is done. If I am really getting 8% stales, what can I do to reduce them? I am not able to attach images to the thread. So I couldn't post screenshots.

Additional info: WU is 2831/m. WUE=93.8%.

Newer versions of cgminer count 'accepted' as the sum of the difficulty of those shares. You can see what I mean if you start your miner and watch how the accepted shares value goes up.

However, cgwatcher can report them like the old versions of cgminer used to: where 1 accepted share is displayed as 1 accepted share.

Your cgwatcher value is most likely correct at 8%.

You can reduce stales by reducing intensity of your miner software (if its too high / higher is not always better: sometimes better to sacrifice intensity for responsiveness), or trying a different pool.

Some say that changing defaults to these parameters can also reduce rejects/stales for some coins:

"expiry" : "2",
"queue" : "0",
"scan-time" : "2",

Nope. You will eventually come to grief because the most profitable coins at the top of the list often are having blockchain problems. You can see it when difficulty drops of massively (50+% instantaneously). You'll be throwing away shares because its not smart enough to realize that there is a problem.

I knew that already, which is why I'm only mining five well-established coins that infrequently switch profitability in relation to each other.

My question was about a software issue, which I managed to solve myself last night.
I should really post the solution here, but I'm not going to bother.

Thanks.

I have CGwatcher scheduled to check which coin (out of the 5 profiles I've set up) is most profitable (adjusted for stales) every 15 minutes, and switch profiles to that coin.

That is a terrible idea and I will let you figure out why.

Yes, pool hopping/not getting shares.  I know.  The particular coin profiles I have set up don't change their profitability ranking very often.  For instance, in the last 24 hours, my miners should have only switched coins 3 times.  The problem is, they don't switch at all.

So really, no advice on how to get scheduler to auto-switch profiles?  Does anyone have this feature working properly?

i cant see my gpu 0 k/hash rate in the cg remote window and this: In CGWatcher's Devices tab (GPU tab), click the link under the average hashrate that says "Incorrect Hashrate for this GPU?" This will open the Device Map window, where you can map detected GPUs (ADL) to hashrates (OpenCL).
 doesnt work for me. What should i do?

It is not working on any of my rigs.

CGwatcher starts up, picks the most profitable coin, and mines that one.  It never switches.

Does anyone else have this feature working properly?

Can I set miners to mine a new coin at specific time? By pre-entering coins details.

If you mean for coin launches the way I deal with that is to set up a new profile

"NewCoinName"
Pool 1: New Coin Pool
Pool 2: Regular Pool

This will mine on your regular pool (as pool 1 will be dead) until the coin launches then switch over

I have: (Schedule tab) Set intensity of all GPUs to 17 when idle. Minutes before idle: 1

And it works well.

The config file's default mining intensity is 13 for the GPU in question, which is right on the limit of "just plays videos smoothly".

I've noticed that if the mouse cursor moves even 1 pixel it will cancel the idle timer. This can be a problem for me as I have two high resolution mice connected. So if I am going away for a long period of time or to sleep, I turn the mice upside down.

I haven't really looked into it, but I suspect some kind of windows (videos or pictures being displayed as the active window) prevent it from going "idle".

Trying to get CGwatcher to start mining when my PC is idle & stop as soon as I start using my PC.

I have scheduler set to start mining when my PC is idle for 5min, which is working perfectly. The problem is immediatly after it starts mining the scheduled action to stop mining when my PC is not idle kicks in & shuts it back off... I can't see this being intended, as the entire command to stop mining when not idle would be pointless if mining counted as not being idle... it literally creates an endless loop of starting & stopping.

Anyone got any advice or something I'm missing here? I thought maybe something was keeping my PC from being idle, but that can't be it, or it wouldn't start mining to begin with...

Edit: Apparently it was something I missed... The stop action determines idle based on the same field used by "set intensity when idle," which was still set for 30min. This caused the PC to be idle for my start action before it was idle for my stop action.

I'll just leave this here in case anyone else has trouble with this...

Hey Justin,

Today I tried your software but can't get it why there is no mass pool change option?
Still I found something like it when you create a new pool and forward your miners to it but there is only one option for LOGIN and PASSWORD.

Can you automate miner's names and passwords?
Like when I enter "Miner" in pool's login area it adds up number 1, 2 to whatever the miner number I have. Password can be the same for all of them.

It just doesn't work that way right now and I still need to do all that manually.

I had to stop using CGwatcher -

Heres why, - I have set up my computer to startup cg watcher at start I have told Cgwatcher to restart Miner every 8 hours no matter what I have told cgwatcher to reboot computer if Sick/Dead GPU I have told it to to restart if a few things happen, But for some reason Now that I have 7 GPU's on this one motherboard things are starting to happen in cgwatcher that do not happen when i run the Cgminer bat file I created (RUN MANUALLY)

this is the last moments of cgwatcher ( BELOW )  - Its like I have to keep more of an eye on when cgwatcher is running then when i run cgminer my

Yes I do not have a config file I use my Bat file configure my GPU's, Fail over, Intensity, Power tune, etc etc etc... No need for a config file as I have been mining for over 2 months now and always used ONLY my batch file, Longest stretch non-stop mining was a week and a little more , I thought i'd restart to give it a rest for 5 minutes..

But yeh thats without Cgwatcher, if i use cgwatcher id be lucky tobmake it 24 hrs with out Computer crashing...

Any clues guys, I used to like Cgwatcher when I had 4 GPUS on this MB but now that I have 7 x 290 per MB - Cgwatcher is unstable for some reason

PS: I have Cgwatcher 1.3.5

Not too hard, remember to try both ways of getting cgwatcher to run on startp, registry not always works on my rigs and I gotta rely on the startup folder method (dropdown menu in settings, cgwatcher)

Wow, you really know how to help people. Thanks anyway.

I wouldn't be so cranky if people would just stop and use their grey matter for such simple shit.

Investigate the settings available, set cgwatcher to run at startup on win8 (protip: look under settings > cgwatcher), use google "windows 8 startup" or something along those lines..

Instead of posting such simple inane stuff here...put some effort in.
