Since summer vacation is (unfortunately) over, I have more time on my hands to release this month's overview (and beat fillippone Cheesy)
I think you are the only one having more time to do this kind of stuff when not on holiday, rather than when on holiday!
Just admit the only thing that makes you get up in the morning is beating me every month on this!
I will publish my update soon, I just have to replace all the places where I wrote: “I will add the graph as soon as Rikafip stops slacking and sleeping and will finally publish his charts, presumably toward the very end of the month”. /j

Since summer vacation is (unfortunately) over, I have more time on my hands to release this month's overview (and beat fillippone Cheesy) for August 2023 so here it is. As in previous monthly overviews, all charts and table are made using @DdmrDdmr Merit Dashboard and @TryNinja Ninjastic.space while images uploaded via joker_josue's TalkImg which he made specifically for bitcointalk use.

Communities marked with * (Pakistan and Bangladesh) don't have their own local boards but are included anyway with the hope that they get their own local board like Nigerian board did last year.

Post activity per local board during August 2023

During above mentioned period 17919 posts were made across 18 local boards and communities which is a decent improvement compared to month before during which 15864 posts were written (that makes it 13% increase). With summer coming to an end and people usually spending more time infront of their PC I hope for even better numbers in the next overview.

As usual, Russian board is far ahead the others, going over 6k posts this month (up from 5298), followed by Turkish board that remained pretty much the same in the terms of activity (2131 in July, 2176 in August) and German that also remained pretty much the same (1584-1611). This month Nigerian board managed to reach 4th spot with 1438 posts which is their record (up from 1174) and I expect them to continue with their growth, while Portuguese board closes top 5 with 1427 posts (up from 1112).

Among the least active local boards we see pretty much the same name like in the last few months: Greek, Romanian and Polish. Greek and Romanian used to be way more active at the beginning of the year (both hovering around ~200 posts in January 2023) and I have no idea what hapepned there so their activity dropped so much. Maybe someone from their local boards can shed some light? Anyway, hopefully that's just a bad period and they eventually recover.

Local Board post race

Animated local board post race chart, courtesy of bitmover.

Number of active members per local board during August 2023

As number of posts increased, no surprise that the same thing happened with the number of active posts: from 1301 active member in July, we went up to 1403 in August. Increase seems small at first, but since these numbers don't change as much as some other (percentage wise), this is actually pretty significant increase.

Yet again by far the most active one was Russian with 428 members that wrote at least one post (drop from 444 active members in July), followed by Nigerian that had 135 active members (up from 121 in July) and Indonesian with 124 (up from 109 during July). Top 5 close German (120, down from 125) and Turkish (117, up from 93).

Local board members per amount of posts during August 2023

When it comes to the percentage of members who wrote only 1 post in their board during above mentioned period, Greek is leader with 67%, followed Romanian (60%) and Indian (58%) local boards. At the same time, Pakistan has the lowest percebtage of those members (25%), followede by Turkish (26%) and Pilipinas (28%) local boards.

Regarding 2-9 posts bracked, Bangladesh is leader with 47%, followed by German (44%) and Indonesian (40%) local boards. Likewise, Croatian had the lowest percentage (15%) of such members, followed by Arabic (27%) and Portuguese (28%).

When it comes to 10+ posts bracket, Croatian board is leader with 55%, followed by Pakistan (43%) and Turkish (29%) local boards. At the same time, Greek local board had no members in that bracket al all, while Romanian had 10%, followed by Indian (14%) local board.

Merit shared per local board during August 2023

During August, 8360 merit was shared across 18 local boards which is an increase compared to month before (July 2023) during which 7769 merits were shared. Increase doesn;t seem big, but I will take it as a good sign as it is a continuance of a trend so hopefully we continue in the same manner.

Once again, German board managed to reach the top of the chart with 1865 merits (incerase from July and 1841), followed very closely by Russian local that shared 1813 merit during above mentioned period while (up from 1512 in July),  Turkish board managed to regain their 3rd spot (1003 merit) from Indonesian (780, down from 1149 during July) local board While Italian closes top 5 with 512 merit shared (very similar to July and 512 merit).

As in previous months, srandard names are at the bottom: Greek, Romanian and Polish, which makes sense as they are the least active ones (not counting several dead boards that are not included in this overview).

Merit/Post ratio per local board for August 2023

Both number of posts and merit increased in a relatively similar amount so generally speaking there is no big difference in the matter of merit/post ratio compared to previous period (July 2023).

Once again German board had the highest merit/post ratio (and this unusual increase can be seen by the huge difference between their August and 12 month period number). followed by Spanish 9that is back to their suual ratio after last month lower number) and Arabic board, while Italian is not too far behind them and Indonesian closes top 5 this month.

While its no surprise that Greek board is at the bottom due their lack of activity, several very active boards should have high ratio (Pilipinas, Portuguese, Nigerian) could imho use few more merit sources.

Merit senders and receivers per local board during August 2023

Nothing much to say about this chart other than it follows the amount of merit shared, in order to show which boards have more members active in merit system compared to their overall amount of shared merit. As usual, two names stick out: Pilipinas and Nigerian board whihc sould also indicate need for more merit sources.

Merit per transaction across local boards during August 2023

Last in this series of chart (and ther latest addition) merit per transaction that gives a little bit more insight into local boards merit habits. Its no surprise to see that local boards with the highest merit/post ratio also (more or less)  have highest merit/tx ratio as well.

The most active members per local board during August 2023

Last but not the least in this month's overview, top 10 active members for 18 local boards and communities hoping to get their own local board. After quite some time we have a new name at the top, tw0.625 from Russian local board who wrote 458 posts (I have to say that I hear about him for the first time), followed by the usual name at the top joker_josue who despite writing even more posts (311) than last month finsihed 2nd, while another member from Russian local Smartprofit ended up 3rd with also respectable 308 posts. Kudos guys, keep it up!

Just went back few months ago to being active here in the forum and glad to see that I am the most active in our local. Thanks for the stats and data rikafip. I hope that other of our countrymen will be also back and active again and support our local board.

Tbh I expected to see Nigerian board climbing up the ladder once you got the local board because its obvious how many active members you have. Who knows, if you continue like that maybe one day you'll even challenge Russian board that has been by far the most active local board (at least since I started making these overviews 3 and a half years ago).
Grin challenging Russian Board is possible but over taking them is not possible, they are just like the giant of all the local boards in the forum. They have more Merit Sources and they have a lot of active members. So they are always on top of the chart with a very large margin to others. When Nigeria board got her Merit Sources and Moderators then things will change to better. Even as that we can't compete with Russia.

The percentage of posts made on local boards to the total post is instead more or less stable, and this is a good sign!
An interesting chart, and expected in terms of local boards following forum in general. What's noticeable though is that local boards are more prone to sudden changes in the ratio which is kinda expected too as all you need is few local board merit sources being less active to mess up the ratio.

This is awesome. Thank you @Rikafip great work. I was not thinking that Nigeria Local Board would take 5th post per local board, and "Active Members in each local board, Nigeria took 3rd with 121

We are having a few problems on the Italian board: we had a few “bad motnhs” and apparently we are not able to get back to our usual levels, as many active poster simply are now less active and the newcomers weren't able to get the flow going.
If its any consolation, majority of local boards have the same issues so you are not alone there, just compare the numbers from two years ago and from the latest overview.

Okay, and that means, it can be fixed once those active posters bounced back. And in most time those newbies, post things that are not relevant, posting odd things and the old ones to correct them making communication boring. Though,
With time they will understand the system and flow with you guys. As you are there things are under control.
On the other hand the Nigerian board is doing really well. Kudos to your community!
Thank you very much for your recommendation. I appreciate. Kiss

And I know that night Nigerian local board can't come up with the merit stat, and was also surprised to see that we 6th position in it. Nice work Rikafip

here is the updated race chart

Nice work!
It is a fun animation to see, even if you have to squint your eyes to see the Italian board.
Usually, this kind of graph is used for "cumulative" events rather than "rolling amounts", like the monthly posts on a board, but the graph is good enough to catch a few trends.
Thanks for your comments and nice words.

The problem with a cumulative approach is that there would be no race.

Russian would be forever first, Turkey second, etc, all would stay in the same positons all the time, and the race would be just among some small boards.

Now, with rolling amounts every month, any board can get to the top position at any time.

Thanks for sharing this race in your local board.

Namely, the number of posts on the forum almost halved from the first months of the graph; this is not necessarily a bad thing, as maybe it is an effect of reduced spam activity, but definitely, something to keep an eye on.

Indeed, the fact that the Portuguese local boards reduced their activity a little last month, made my participation there also drop a little. This month of August may be following the same path.
Its understandable since its summer, I am sure that you Portuguese/Brazil ppl have much better things to do during summer than spam the forum.  Grin

Sometimes there are minor things that go under the radar from a broader perspective, but that are interesting to see from a specific local board’s perspective. For example, going over the Spanish local board’s data, July 2023 marker an ATL in terms of sent Merits, totalling 95 (410 the previous month). At first I thought that the result was "my doing" (reduced activity), but I awarded roughly the same amount of Merits on both months being compared.
That was exacty my thought too when I saw Spanish local board merit number, that decrease was caused by you as I noticed that you haven't been so active lately but good to hear that you are sharing your merit as usual.

There are lies, damned lies and statistics. MTwain

Now digging a bit further into the data, it turns out that the total number of posts for July is 286 vs 280 in June; both months on par, though a drop from previous months. Senders for July are 15 vs 18 during June – similar figures, but the key lies precisely here.

It turns out that another local Spanish Merit Source took a leap during July (having being the largest meriter during June). Since I haven’t been very active, his meriting became more much more relevant overall for the local board, and a month’s absence had the lateral effect of leading to our ATL.

What I wanted to point out is twofold: On the one hand, we (not Rikafip) sometimes to do a bit of extra digging in order to make sense of the data being shown. On the other, some local boards are (logically) sometimes sensitive in terms of Merits to a couple of people on their own.

Its time for yet another brief monthly overview of the local boards activity. I initially planned to release it much sooner but as usual real life got in a way so here it is now. As always, charts and table are made with the help of @DdmrDdmr Merit Dashboard and @TryNinja Ninjastic.space and images uploaded via joker_josue's TalkImg.

Communities marked with * (Pakistan and Bangladesh) don't have their own local boards as of yet but I do hope that will change in the near future as these guys definitely deserve it based on their numbers.

Post activity per local board during July 2023

During above mentioned period 15864 posts were written across 18 local boards which is a slight increase from June's numbers (15319). Since we are in the middle of summer I think that these are very good numbers as I expected them to go down since people usually have betetr things to do in this period of the year.

As always, Russian board is far ahead the others, followed by Turkish and German local boards and Indonesian and Nigerian managed to get into top 5 (last month 5th one was Portuguese but they dropped down one spot this month).

When it comes to the least active local boards, no surprise there as bottom 4 remained the same like during June. Keep in mind that there are several half-dead/dead local boards that weren't included in this overview so situation looks worse for those less active boards that=n it actually is as there are those that are far worse than them.

Local Board post race

Animated local board post race chart, courtesy of bitmover.

Number of active members per local board during July 2023

During last month 1301 member wrote at least one post across local boards, which is an increase compared to month before during which 1272 members were active. As with post number, this increase was a surprise for me as I expected it to go down further, but I am glad to be proven wrong.

Russian board once again has by far the most active members (basically  1/3 of all local board members), followed by German (125) and Nigerian (121) local boards. As with post number, pretty much the same local boards ocuppy the left part of this chart as well.

Local board members per amount of posts during July 2023

When it comes to percentage of members that wrote only 1 post during July 2023, Greek board is far ahead of others with 75% of such members, followed by Indian and Romanian local boards that both had 50%. On the other hand, Nigerian local board had only 20% of those members, followed closely by Indonesian and Turkish boards that both had 21%.

In the 2-9 posts bracket, Bangladesh board is aheasd with 55%, followed by Nigerian (44%) and Pilipinas (43%). At the same time, Greek board had no such members, while Croatian, Polish and Italian share the 2nd spot with 27% of such members.

When talking about members who wrote 10+ posts during last month, Croatian local board had highest percentage of those (50%), followed by Turkish (48%) and Italian (41%) local boards. At the same time, Romanian board had only 10% of such members (translated 1 member), followed by Bangladesh(15%) and Indian (18%) local boards.

Merit shared per local board during July 2023

Since we had an increase of amount of posts, no surprise that the same thing happened with merit; during last month 7769 merits were shared across 18 local boards which is a noticeable increase compared to month before during which 6939 merits were shared.

This month we have a big surprise as Russian board is not at the top, since members of German board managed to share 1865 merits which is their all time high. I don't know what happened there, but keep it up guys! Russian board is still at the high 2nd spot with their standard number of merits, followed by Indonesian local board that still manages to keep their numbers high.

Merit senders and receivers per local board during July 2023

Straightforward chart that is sorted by the amount of merits shared. Once again Pilipinas and especially Nigerian local boards stick out that indicated high number of people involved in merit system compared to the total amount of merit shared.

Merit/Post ratio per local board for July 2023

Since both amount of posts and merit slighly got increased during above mentioned period, no surprise that generally there's no big change here compared to the month before. Two boards still stand out though; German having more than a double of their standard merit/post ratio for 12 months period, and Spanish board having ~60% lower ratio than in the 12 months period.

Merit per transaction across local boards during July 2023

Once again, this relatively new chart that shows the difference between local board when it comes to meriting habits. Its no surprise that boards with the highest merit/post ratio usually have the highest merit/transaction ratio, in this case German and Arabic, but even here some slight deviations are possible like in Indonesian and Pilipinas case.

The most active members per local board during July 2023

As always, its time to mention all those members that are keeping their local boards alive. Once again Portuguese member joker_josue has been the most active one with 282 posts written in his local board during last month, but this time Smartprofit from Russian board came very close with 280 posts while Ratimov from the same board was at the 3rd spoot with 218 posts written in the above mentioned period.

Small update: Every once in a while I have to check one of my older reports and it usually ends by me checking old pages of this thread, not knowing where exactly particular overview is (since I am often too bored to check Google drive). So, in order to make it easierr for me and everyone else to check previous months overviews, I added the list of monthly overviews to the first post of this thread.

Ideally that should be added to reserved post, but since I didn't think in advance and make one, I have to do it this way. When the list becomes too long I will  reorganize it a little bit and create table for an easier access.

Some time ago I made that chart as well (posts per users) but then I kinda stopped making it as I thought it would be redundant and not many people would be interested seeing it. I might include it again, but  on the other hand I don't wanna make this overview too long as it was intended to be brief, as the name suggests and it already became much bigger than I initially intended.

In my opinion the way you are posting is great, there are already 7 charts + top 10 users + the animated chart made by bitmover
The coolest data are here

It was just a number that caught my attention because the Portuguese board looked different from the average when I did a quick count and then checked it on the calculator

One of the coolest things about this data is to give support to analyze certain things, like what you mentioned, it is possible to have a very active board with few users, in our board there's new thread and new posts everyday with the main subjects
It's also nice to see in the news when cryptos increase in popularity and the other month it reflects on the forum, like the Nigerian and Turkish boards and the only way to see that is with the data available here  Smiley
