If you check your talkimg thread, you will notice he mentioned you a couple of times unnecessarily. He even translated your post in Bengali using Google translator for some (.....), you know what.

Generally these things don't bother me, but I understand what you mean.

Regarding this translation, I noticed this. But, as you can see, I understand zero Bengali, so there's not much I can do. It has to be the locals who act accordingly, stopping abuses.

I find it annoying when you mention a lot of people unnecessarily.
I just use one notification bot, made by LoyceV. you can just make the bot ignore users that you find annoying  using it.
Even easier: you can just ignore certain topics.

I don't think users should adjust their posting behaviour for people who use a notification bot. Bots should adjust to posts, not the other way around.

Thanks, but from what I can see that's only image so can you please share the link too so I can update the overview?

Post updated with the link to the local chart race!

I find it annoying when you mention a lot of people unnecessarily. You could have ignored all those names so they didn't get notified. I've asked you this before. I am unsure if you are seeking attention, and maybe that's why you like mentioning others. Maybe? Or maybe not? If you keep doing it unnecessarily, your mention will lose value. Imagine you are mentioning someone for some emergency or a good reason; they will ignore your mention because you used to mention people unnecessarily.

I don't know what bot/app you are using, but when the mention comes up, it indicates what topic it refers to. And this topic is not meant to notify anyone for something urgent.

This is a statistics topic, and therefore should not be used to draw anyone's attention in a special way. For informational purposes only.

I don't know if you got me wrong. It wasn't for Rikafip. Of course, Rikafip never mentions people for unnecessary reasons. But look at the post history of the guy I quoted in my previous post. He used to mention everyone from our local thread every few days and then other newbies quote his posts and we all get unlimited notifications. Not only me, but others also feel annoyed. Here it happened again. He quoted the username list of Rikafip's post so everyone get notified which I don't like at all.

If you check your talkimg thread, you will notice he mentioned you a couple of times unnecessarily. He even translated your post in Bengali using Google translator for some (.....), you know what.

Rikafip, thank you very much for another very detailed and interesting analysis of the activities on local boards on the forum.
This month you rushed and published your analysis earlier than usual. Are you in a hurry because you are soon going on a well-deserved vacation at the sea?  Grin
It was more about wanting to release this overview sooner than like it was last month because somehow I have a feeling when I wait for the end of the month to publish it that is less relevant due amount of time passed + I avoid people pestering me over it.  Cheesy

I hope that soon we will also see analysis for the Croatian local board as well  Cheesy
Our local board overview should be out by the end of the week.

As for the rest, it was quite expected that we would see a drop in activity during the summer, and even our local champion got a little tired and wasn't as active as usual.

Month of June didn't affect it at all since the issue was very recent. So, I assume the data for June is accurate so far. You have one month in hand; in the meantime, LoyceV and TryNinja might do something about it.
You are actually right! Since the issues happened last week, this overview was not affected by it at all! I must admit that TryNinja confused me a bit and I completely switched off my brain, forgetting that only the next overview might be affected by it, but at least I won' t have to adjust current one.

Thanks Rikafip  Wink

Interesting to see how the board I belong to (Portuguese), is only 13th in number of active users, but is 5th in number of posts.
A cool number I found: the number of posts of the Portuguese board is 1076, with 31 active users.
If you divide that number gives 34.7, it's a pretty high average I think, and looking quickly I think it's the highest average on the forum
I noticed that as well, that your board has very high amount of posts relative to the number of active members. As a matter of fact I even mentioned that fact in my local board,  as a proof that is possible to have a very active board without huge amount of active members as up until recently Croatian and Portuguese locals were similar in that regard (number of avtive members, not posts).

If you divide that number gives 34.7, it's a pretty high average I think, and looking quickly I think it's the highest average on the forum
Some time ago I made that chart as well (posts per users) but then I kinda stopped making it as I thought it would be redundant and not many people would be interested seeing it. I might include it again, but  on the other hand I don't wanna make this overview too long as it was intended to be brief, as the name suggests and it already became much bigger than I initially intended.

You have done this countless times in our local thread, and other newbies adapted your habit. I thought I would put you on my ignore list, but I didn't because you were improving daily. Please don't take it as criticism. It's a friendly advice. Remove unnecessary parts from your quote. That will make your post look good.

Communities marked with * (Pakistan, Bangladesh) don't have their own local boards yet but I do hope that theymos and Cyrus will do something about it soon because I think their numers are definitely strong enough to give them their own local board.

Thanks, Rikafip, for another good monthly overview and the words you wrote about our local thread. We just wanted to ensure that the numbers remain similar in terms of members and the number of posts made in our local thread. We had some doubts because newbie accounts join and leave every week. But look at the thread now. Several new accounts, including me, have ranked up in the last six months. If this continues for long enough, and the global community supports creating a local board for us, we will be happy to have a board.

Oh damn I completely forgot about that, your bot not being able scrape the forum due recent issues so number of posts appear a bit lower than they actually are.  You shoulnd't have mentioned that lol, ignorance is bliss.  Cheesy

If LoyceV doesn't have the total post numbers, DdmrDdmr might have. Anyway, at least its the same for all local boards since they are all relatively equally affected.
Month of June didn't affect it at all since the issue was very recent. So, I assume the data for June is accurate so far. You have one month in hand; in the meantime, LoyceV and TryNinja might do something about it. LoyceV already planned to make a "catch up" scraper (Of course, if he has enough time).

Considering how long this takes, and how many posts I've missed by now, I'm planning to make a "catch up" scraper: once the forum works again, I can check the latest topics with new posts on each board, and scrape the last pages of all of them until I caught up to the start of the outage. It will mean some redundant scraping, and I won't catch deleted posts, but at least the voids in my archive will get smaller.
If I can find the time, I expect it to be quite a lot of work.

Keep in mind that my data is a bit incomplete for this month because of the 2 days the bot couldn’t scrape the forum. Could be a good idea ask @LoyceV if he scraped what’s missing on his archive so he gives you better numbers.

After being late last month, I"ve decided to release this month's obverview a little bit sooner to avoid potentual complaints. Grin Like in previous overviews, charts and table are made using data from @DdmrDdmr Merit Dashboard and @TryNinja Ninjastic.space.

Post activity per local board during June 2023

During last month 15319 posts were written acorss 18 local boards/communities which is ~8% decrease compared to May number (16641). Since its the beginning of the summer, I am not surprised with the decreased activity because pople have more fun things to do than sit at the computer. Due this overall decerased activity, no susprise that majority of boards had lower numbers compared to May, with no one really sticking out in that regard.

Regarding the most active boards nothing changed here: Russian board is stil far ahead of the others, followed by Turkish and German. As a matter of fact, the top 6 is exactly the same like in May, while situation at the bottom is also similar to previous months.

Local Board post race

Animated local board post race chart, courtesy of bitmover.

Active member per local board during June 2023

During above mentioned period, 1272 members wrote at least 1 post in their local boards which is very similar to May and  1270 active members. When I saw overall decrease of the amount of posts I epxected to see this number goind down as well, but for whatever reason it remained basically the same, with even 2 active members more. Bare in mind that I counted members who wrote even 1 post during last month so that may give a little bit skewed picture on how many active members each board actually had.

To get a little bit clearer picture of the boards activity and their member's posting habits, here is the "local boards members per amount of posts" chart.

When it comes to percentage of members of wrote only one post during June 2023, Arabic board is ahead of the others with 45%, followed by Greek (43%) and Bangladesh & Italian boards that both had 33% of such members. The lowest percentage of such members had Indian board (17%), followed by Nigerian (19%) and Romanian (20%) local boards.

In the 2-9 posts bracket Romanian board is ahead with 60% of such members, followed by Indian local board (54%) and Pilipinas (48%) local board. In the same bracket, Arabic board with 27% had lowest percentage of those members, followed by Turksih (31%) and Polish (33%) local boards.

Polish board has the highest percentage of active members that wrote 10+ posts during last month period ( 44%), followed by Turkish (43%) and Portuguese (42%) local boards. On the other hand, Greek boiard had the lowest percentage of such members (14%), followed by German (22% and French % Russian local boards both with 24% of such members.

Merit shared per local board during June 2023

During last month period 6939 merits where shared acorss 18 local boards, which is a 6% decrease compared to May 2023 numbers (7376 merits). Since amount of posts went down by 8%, its no surprise that the same thing hapepned with the merit and it was kinda expected.

Once again Russian board had by far the most amount of merit shared which makes sense as they are more active than next few local boards combined, once again followed by Indonesian local board that yet again had very high amount of merits shared. At the bottom we can see the boards that are generally less active, which also makes sense, with the Pilipinas board kinda sticking out as I think they deserve more merit considering their amount of posts (assuming they don't have a lot of spam).

Merit per transaction across local boards in June 2023

Since there was some demand for this chart, I've decided to include it from now in in this overview. As you can see, Greek local board has by far the highest tx/merit ratio, but that's only because they only had 1 merit transaction of 4 merits, which then made it so high. Generally, least active local boards will often end up at the top of this chart as its very easy for them to to have unusually high ratio, compared to local boards with high amount of merit transaction, like for example German or Indonesian local board.

[/img]

Merit senders and receivers per local board during June 2023

Self explanatory chart that shows the amount of merit senders and receivers in each local board, sorted by the amount of merits shared. Nigerian and Pilipinas board are yet again sticking out which could indicate that they could use more merit.

Merit/Post ratio per local board for June 2023

Last but not the least in this series of chart, post/merit ratio. Spanish local board is far ahead the others with the very high ratio unusual for them (they generally do have high ratio, but not this high) followed by standard names, Romanian and Arabic local board and thanks to recent increase in amount of merits, Indonesian board as well.

At the bottom are two local boards that are not very active (Greek and Polish) and two (Nigerian, Pilipinas) that are very active but as seen in previous charts, they do lack merit.

The most active members per local board during June 2023

And for the end of last month's local board activity overview, list of the most active members acorss 18 local boards and that are keeping their boards alive. joker_josue from Portuguese local board has yet again been the most active members with 275 posts written during last month, followed by two members from Russian local board, Smartprofit (234) and Ratimov (221). Keep it up guys!

I presume the driver would be to see the Ranks of participants (posters) on a given local board.
Exactly.

So, at the beginning of the year I would like to see ranks of all members who wrote at leats one post during the last year, across local board. It is fairly easy to do if when making it for my own local board as we don't have that many active users and I know all of their ranks by heart, but in the case of making it across all local boards, this manul checking approach would take me too much time.

Perhaps TryNinja keeps/updates the profile data in his DB, and can add it to the output that generates the list of users (current available variables are {number} {username} {uid} {count}). That would make it easy to introduce current Rank into the derived information (*).
Yeah I will check with him, thnx.

I think you always need merits, even if it's legendary.
The merits are the recognition that what the person says/does is useful for the readers of this community, whether that person is legendary or not.
Daniel91 is OP of our local thread where members can submit their good undermerited/unmerited posts and that thread has been pretty inactive for quite some time.

I think that in the last six months or so we had maybe 5-6 submissions and that's what he (probably) meant when he said that no one needs/wants merit anymore in our local board anymore as thread used to be way more active 3-4 years ago when me and other members were going through ranks. Its sort of unwritten rule in that topic not to submit your posts once you reach Legendary rank and since majority of us reached that and we don't have many new members, thread became inactive.

Thanks Rikafip, that's exactly what I had in mind when I wrote my previous comment.
I submitted an application in Meta for merit source 5 years ago with the motive to help my local community, because at that time we had many young and active members with low forum ranks.
After that, I started a forum thread in our local board where all members of the local community for the last 5 years could report their quality posts on the forum and get merits.
Unfortunately, this forum thread has become almost inactive for the last year or two, and it seems that my task of helping the local community to progress faster on this forum is completed.
Of course, I still reward every quality post on my local board and in the main part of the forum with merit, but that's a completely different story now.

There are lies, damned lies and statistics. MTwain
<…> This just gave me an idea to make another chart with forum ranks across local boards, but I am not sure how feasible that would be. Not sure that it would make sense to make it every month, but I think I might include it in the yearly overview, like I am doing for Croatian local board.

Now I just have to figure out from where to pull that data so I can actually make a chart. @DdmrDdmr (or anyone else) do you maybe have some idea?
I don’t really have the data to do it properly, since I only track Merited profiles (I therefore don’t have a view on all the profiles that participate in a given local board).

Regardless, it would all depend on the exact definition of what you’d like to show. I presume the driver would be to see the Ranks of participants (posters) on a given local board. In order to so, I’d use Ninjastic to derive the participants (posters) on a given timeframe, and then cross-reference the data with the Google file I update weekly here to derive the current associated Rank. Unfortunately, that would only find a match for Merited profiles, which would be a subset of what’s needed.

Perhaps TryNinja keeps/updates the profile data in his DB, and can add it to the output that generates the list of users (current available variables are {number} {username} {uid} {count}). That would make it easy to introduce current Rank into the derived information (*).

(*) Logically, Rank evolves, and data is attributed in general to the current Rank, not the Rank at the time of making a given post (i.e. If we explore a year’s worth of data, a beginner could have gone from Brand New through to Sr. Member in that time).
