The funny thing is, no one even replied to my post when I called them out because they know that they are guilty of wrongdoing. They have insulted me with alternate accounts, so I cannot tell who that was.  Cheesy Some members appreciated me because I tried to fix these things, but surely some of them are not happy with my work!

I could have created a thread on local boards if I wanted to report or tag them. I didn't have to post in our local thread multiple times and request them not to do any abuse. I just wanted to help them.
But in the end it did helped didn't it? We are seeing less and less spam posts in the local thread now. Not only that the copy paste news article source style posts have also stopped. It did decreased the thread activity counts but who cares about quantity. It's always about the quality. Rather than posting like a lazy persons I see newbies (in local thread) making questions on several topics, which is surely a good sign. People are trying to discuss in a constructive manner.

With all the good and bad sides, do you think we can hope for a local board any sooner? New years brings new news, maybe a happy one.

[Note: What happens to the post when a local thread gets their own board?]

This is good to hear. You have done well. It is only the person that wear a tight shoe that knows how the shoe is paining him. I know how that people have insulted you because you were trying to make things better for them

and all their thinking for was you wanted to report their accounts to be banned or to be tagged but what you did is for good.

Agbe, I am happy to inform you and Rikafip too that since I posted here in this thread and also posted in fillippone's thread about it, at least they stopped using the forum feature for now and I hope they won't repeat it again. The reason why I did not post on global boards about it is that I wanted to fix things locally. Some senior and junior members also agree with it. If global members start digging into these things, some of my locals will end up having some neutral feedback. I wanted to have a discussion with them in our local thread but it didn't worked for long time until I post this. I am happy to say that things in control for now.

Continue your good work. One thing I believed in my life is, reputation is from the heart. One character display showcase his or her reputation for me. You have done well congratulations for the peace of mind.

Given the Nigeria's population (more than 200 million, 6th most populous country in the world) and more importantly how popular bitcoin is there, its not really a surprise that they are climbing up the ladder fast and I wouldn't be surprised at all to see them at the top in the future.

Success of the Nigerian local board should be a proof enough to forum staff that it makes sense to create few more local boards to those who consistently have good numbers, namely Pakistan and Bangladesh as their numbers would most likely grow too if given local boards.
Thank for your complement. I am a Nigerian and very active in the local board and there are times I would visit the board and also surprised to see how fast the board is growing and active. When we create a thread, within 7 to 10 hours the thread would be in the second page of the board. And that is a very good example of a growing board and need urgent moderators, merit Sources and Sub-boards. We will be very much happy to have those things in place so that the board will be very neat and active the more. I thank you all for supporting the board from one way or the other.

They always have been active participants on the forum with lot of recognized members which has helped them to get their own local board but also impressed by how active they are with such good number of posts within a month while some big boards are not having that much forum engagement.

For the first time in the last five months, other Bangladeshi locals were able to beat me. Usually, I was too active in our local thread, but recently, I had to cool down due to massive spam in our local thread. We Bangladeshi people have been expecting a local board for a long time now, and we are trying hard to improve the quality.

But instead, we got dozens of spammers who copy-paste news and write nonsense and started abusing the system. I felt like I should step down slowly from there as some other senior members already stepping down. Thanks for the chart Rikafip.
Smile!! You don't have to step down and if you does the local thread will just collapsed so all what you have to do is to create a topic and list all the chronic spammers that you and warn them that if they refused to stop spamming the thread then you will submit the list in the Spam reporting thread in general board everyone to see. And bump the thread every week and if they continue the spamming habit then you submit to the spam reporting thread in Reputation Board.

In September, they achieved 1898 posts, and by October, this figure surged to 2470, marking a remarkable increase of over 500 posts within a single month.

Congratulation to the Nigerian Community!

Nigerian Board is running fast!! Congrats!
@bitmover thanks you for the acknowledgement. We are trying in our corner though we are not competing with fillippone (Italians) and Russians and any other LB but doing things on our own way. We are really growing rapidly and that is why we need Moderators, and Merit Sources to complement the board. On behalf of naija LB, I appreciate Rikafip and President fillippone and other prestige members in the forum for their support.

Impressive strides made by Nigeria since the establishment of their local board, propelling them to the forefront of the local boards race.

What is happening in your local thread was what was happening in our local board and we took the drastic step to calm the spammers. And in most time it is the newbies that doing the spamming work. And right now our local board is very neat and clean from spamming. So don't step aside for them to kill the effort you have put in place.

I have warned those members doing these things, but I don't know if it would work.
If you think that they are merit fishing shitposters, you can always leave them neutral feedback so external merit sources know who they are dealing with. With some people you just have to get rough for them to understand what's right and wrong.

It looks good since my warning post. To be honest, I never wanted to mention any names and never wanted to post in public. I have asked them a lot of times, and other members have also asked them to stop. They were avoiding all of us, and I had to post it publicly. I wanted to fix the problem within our local thread, but no one responded to me. I was expecting a promise from them. Since they stopped after my post, I guess they deserve a chance. But if they start doing it again, I will ask some senior members to leave neutral feedback because my feedback won't show by default for obvious reasons.

AFAIK, they don't have a dedicated local board but just a dedicated thread in other languages. So everything they post has to be in that thread alone which is why it is impossible to say which is an off-topic comment also I remember the moderator's comments regarding such copy/paste in other language boards, mods don't consider them as off-topic, and will not delete.
Yeah I can imagine that its harder (or impossibke) to get rid of off topic in those cases, but shitposts can still be removed.

Another thing, if people are spamming nonsense copy/paste news and are getting merit for it, you may wanna warn those meriting them that they are not doing any favor to your local thread as that will only make them spam even more of the same stuff.

I did what I could do at this moment. I have warned those members doing these things, but I don't know if it would work. It does not matter if I stop meriting them or not. They will eventually manage to lure some merit from merit sources who review local thread posts because they cannot evaluate them. And these merits get circulated in a closed circle.

I chatted with one of the merit sources, and he promised to check before reviewing those user's posts. I wanted to fix the problems within our local thread, and I hope they will understand. I have seniors besides me, like LM.

I like what was done by the Nigerian board via the CryptopreneurBrainboss link -----> https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.62827389 , where you can easily track posts and go to the branches of these topics. If each individual shares his own posts, this can be done in the topic that I created for that.
I understand and that's why I don't force it. I'm just offering a solution even though I know you have your own way to do it better. I wish the best to the Indian local boards and they can really get more supply of merit distribution in the following months.

Rikafip, sorry if I derailed your topic. But unlike you, I haven't completed the activity update for October on the local board, but there was a big increase in the number of merit distributions last month as shown in your chart. It's fun and I hope we can keep it going.

Instead of giving up on your community, why not reporting that spam instead?

But what the members can do is ignore those users and not merit them so over the period they will vanish.

hugeblack, I'm sorry because I didn't mean to interfere with your plan, but there is an idea I want to convey.
In my opinion, if one of the Indian users took the initiative to create a dedicated thread like the one created by Vispilio on the Turkish local board and by me on the Indonesian local board. So I don't think you and several other merit sources will have difficulty getting quality posts on that local board.

When you promised some cookies, I still went there to visit. But, as I've never seen those cookies...  Roll Eyes
Haha, it was my take on that "come to the dark side, we have cookies" meme.  Wink

Well... Well... now you say that.
Admit it to me, you tricked me with cookies, so that after I went there to make some posts, you didn't give them to me. Roll Eyes

At least @fillippone is promising pizza.  Tongue

Thanks, @Rikafip, for another monthly statistics report.
I see that the Nigerian board is doing well and perhaps soon we will not hear a complaint from them.
Yep, as long as you are helping them, they should be ok merit wise.

What I noticed though in your merit giveaway thread is lack of Phillipines local board members submitting their posts, despite their merit/post ratio being consistently lowest among all active local boards. Are they not interested in merit or they are not aware of your thread as I seriously doubt that they don't have any merit worthy posts to submit.

One of the members of the Indian board has messaged me saying that they need merit source, but it seems that I need to visit that board once per week. If there is any trust account from the Indian board who wants to help in preparing a list of the best posts weekly, please PM me on my main account.

So I don't think you and several other merit sources will have difficulty getting quality posts on that local board.

Some merit source may can very easily distribute their merit there when special thread are created to reporting some posts (5 to 10). This idea is almost the same as the one you had before on the beginner and help boards, but it will also be effective on local boards where all the posts reported are posts made on that local board. This is the idea I thought about how Indian local board get more merit, but you can also try other ways especially about distributing your merit.

1. Vispilio'nun Tam Bağımsız 🔥 Merit Cafe'si 🔥 - by Vispilio in Turkish local board.
2. [HELP]Bantuan untuk menaikkan Rank (Newbie s.d Hero) V.2 [UPDATE] - by skarais in Indonesian lokal board.
