Can someone give me a tutorial of how to set this up to mine with nanopool?

I put a guide up at:

https://steemit.com/ethereum/@eboman/have-a-fancy-video-card-and-want-to-make-some-extra-money-ethereum-mining-might-be-for-you

Just please "upvote" me...that way, I might be able to figure out how to make a little $$$ on Steem (still can't figure that thing out).

The guide was written for the RX480 card, but you should be able to use it as a basis to get yourself up and running.  If you can't get it working, leave me a reply on the blog and I'll do my best.

Thanks!!!

P.S.  Claymore is the "freaking bee's knees!!"

Thanks!

A word of warning about powered risers, if you run out of molex, you use the included sata to molex adapter right...well that adaptor is cheap and 18awg wire.  It is possible for it to overheat and catch fire.  If you draw to much current that is.  Order some 16awg sata to molex and replace the ones that came with the usb riser if you feel they are hot to the touch.

Partially true.  I think it depends on the riser and the molex.

What version risers are you using?  We saw a lot of problems with the 1st generation PCIe USB risers. Like the yellow wire on the MOLEX adapter turning brown and the power adapter itself on the circuit board having scorch marks!  On MULTIPLE cards.  Yikes! So glad we switched those out!

We just got 100 version 6 risers from Hong Kong.

Can you please post a link to those version 6 risers?

you know there is no fix for 15.12 drivers for rx 480 pcie power draw.if you use this miner with rx 480 how do you solve the problem ?

You need to use good quality USB POWERED risers. And make sure the riser can support more than 90W power.

guys, what is the average fluctuation with claymore miner? When I'm checking with ethman I see about a 5-10% drop for a few seconds lets say every minute or two, but sometimes (maybe every 5minutes) there is a 20-25% drop for a few seconds. Is this normal ? Is it caused by too many fast new blocks or its something to do with gpu/power ?

It also may indicate a throttling. Do you check the temperature of GPUs?

Its r9 390 and r9 280x cards, none of them are above 80C.

I think that's related with Dev fee.

no because you can see when devfee is being mined, this is not related to that, devfee happends once every hour and not 1-2-5minutes

I ordered a sapphire 470 4gb and a 470 8gb.  One of each.  I think they are expensive and ROI on them is a bit longer than usual.  BUT I wanted to test them out for myself.  If I would listen to logic I would only have 390s.  Heck i'm even tempted to make a nvidia rig right now, claymore is working on that.  I'll let you guys know what the results are if I get them next week with all my other stuff, and thats a big if - i leave for vacation after.

2 questions.

1: ETH or ETC ?
2: can i run a 390x and a RX480 on a Corsair TX750

Id would imagine so if that is the only thing you are running off the psu.  I have multiple 390x from xfx and sapphire.  They are under 300 watts each if you dont tweak ie undervolt them  so id say your safe as you would be using less than 80 % psu.

1: ETH/ETC Calculator : https://minergate.com/calculator/ethereum
2: without overclocking/undervolting 350 Watts + 200 Watts so yes

get em while there hot.. only they have a limit of 1.. just bought an xfx to test out the new line..  will post once i get it in hand..

with that limit it's pointless to even consider them for mining, unless you want to create multiple account, but the shipping would be a problem

yea very silly if you ask me.. i think they are trying to curb the resale market a bit.. The rx480 went up quite a bit on ebay.  I agree tho not for those with a farm.> but if you looking for one.. or like me just a test for if/when i do bulk purchase later.

I might try setting the slots to gen 1, but the cards are detected. The problem is that I cannot change the overclock/voltage/fan settings, and I think hashrate is slightly lower as well. I see a lot of 6 card rigs using just x1 risers that have the DVI cap off with no dummy plug on ( just the maincard ). Can you even plug a monitor into the main card with a x1 riser??. Has the main card been on the board to set the rig up and install teamviewer etc, but then put on a riser after? I still don't understand how hashrate would be at the normal levels. I think clock speeds and voltage would be reset as well.

My PCI slots were factory set to "Auto" instead of Gen 1.  Yet, all 6 were still detected.  However, the rig would mine for a few minutes with all 6 then stop hashing.  I would not be surprised if this could be why you are having issues.  Had to set the CPU to x8/x4/x4 as well.

Yes, all of my GPU's are using x1 risers.  I can use my monitor with HDMI and DVI-D cords with no issues.  I have never had to install a GPU straight on the mobo to set up a rig.

Good info. may be why I could get the 16x - 8x slots working but not the 1x.  Would be nice to fill the rig beyond 4 cards.  Thanks..  will give it a try.
