The spread of cricket will not happen unless the ICC takes appropriate action. Western countries are not very interested in cricket. This may be because cricket is playing a whole day long, it may seem like a waste of time to the western people. So I think T10 and T20 should be further expanded to popularize cricket in the West. It is also appropriate to give a chance to the relatively weak teams of the World Cup. Otherwise, these teams will lose interest in cricket.

Kids in Russia or France won't have any interest in cricket, when they see a bunch of Indians and Pakistanis wearing the jersey of Russian or French national teams and competing in tournaments. In order to attract native players, you need to have natives in the squad. Forming national cricket teams entirely of foreigners may enable the ICC to claim that they have 100 or 120 members, but it does a lot of damage to popularity of the game. I don't want to comment on duration anymore. Now we have the T10 format, which gets completed in around 1.5 hours.

Vaccinized.. immunity level is full.
The case with Emirates such as Sharjah, Abu Dhabi and Dubai is different from what we have in countries such as Canada and the United States. In the UAE, the ruling class splurge a lot of money in cricket and the huge expat population also supports the activity. But in countries such as the United States, the government agencies are not very enthusiastic about cricket, and the main reason is that cricket is not an Olympic sport. In UAE, they don't care much about revenues and profits, but those in North America don't have that luxury.
Cricket seems to be a game of 3rd world countries
Most of the countries of the world don't accept cricket. But still it is appreciable because people have a strong interest in cricket. We know that this game has already started in several countries as new. Hopefully in the near future more countries will start this game and we will have good cricket.

And another problem is in India you cannot get a job very easily. You have to know the right people and give them the right amount of money and only then you will be able to get a job. It is not in all cases but mostly this is what happens in India. So the young generation of India finds it really hard to get a job.

Being an Indian, I would not agree if you claim that it is quite difficult to get jobs. There are a lot of jobs available, but the parents only want their kids to do white collar jobs. Even high paying jobs such as underwater welding are looked down upon. Farming is a very low prestige job, despite the profitability. And the problem here is that not everyone can be a programmer or an IT worker. Even the profession of a sports coach doesn't have the same prestige as that of a software engineer. But then, IT jobs are in short supply and there is too much competition.

It is not Indian issue in every region or country parents want their kids have better education and information about related things, but mindset is completely different which is big issue in West mostly peoples enjoy and have spots in early age and after doing their stint they go to university for higher education as they have some money and enjoy their best part of life after this they are now free for doing things which are important in life but in India age factor is having big impact on life mostly parents want their kids take decision in early age and then surf their life for this which is completely wrong.

I have update about many players after enjoying their young age in sports or their beloved work, they complete study and have their future on way in positive way for this profession.

Honestly having people who are more educated is a lot more helpful for any country rather than having people who are good at a certain sport. And every parent wants their children to matter in the long run and that's why they want their children to be really educated.

Well.. I agree that everywhere in the world the parents expect their kids to get a job before it is too late. But in India, the pressure is quite extreme. Especially the boys are supposed to get a job, when they are 24-25 years of age. If they don't get a job by that time, then they will have difficulty in finding a suitable match. And in general, boys get married at the age of 26-27 in India (especially in the North). This means that there is hardly any time for any activity apart from studies. In the western nations this is not the case.

Referring to the movies - 3 idiots - one of the guys who was so upset. There are many case like this in India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
All these three are fans of cricket as well. And I assume the parents mentality is the same. They just want to pressurize their children - all the time.

In India most parents want their kids to study because if you have the knowledge you can do a lot of things. Only playing sports from a young age is not even going to give you the basics. And the kids in India also want to play and not study.

But at least that's what the parents in India always think. But things have changed now and if a kid is really good at cricket the parents generally don't say anything if they want to pursue a career playing cricket. But that is obviously not the same for other sports.

We can play any sport at any place but sadly here in South Asia media play a vital role for spread of cricket so now its most popular game media never give any good intention to other sports like Soccer, Hockey, Tennis and Rugby, so we bounded with this cricket too much. Few years back we have places for these all games but sadly now as @Sithara007 mention we are living in concrete jungle which is killing nature beauty and now our kids are mostly enjoying with indoor games.

Sometime back we were fully enjoying with all outdoors activities but right now mostly peoples love to stay indoor specially in South Asia they have no good schedule like peoples have in European countries.
In childhood, we mostly group of six or seven guys able to enjoy cricket in very small place now just feeling this all in thoughts and dreams.

The comment about media is absolutely spot on. Media plays a really big role in this region and I believe the media is really obsessed with cricket because cricket generates the most amount of revenue in this region. And the kids are always watching great players from India saying cricket and making history and there also think themselves to become like one of them one day. But that is not the case for other sports in India. and this does not happen only in India. This is happening in this whole sea region.

Those were the day - when kids were sporty. They used to run to the streets to play. Now kids run to sofa or bed to play video games.
One of the reasons is parents are so protective about kids these days they don't want their kids to go out and play with other street boys and girls. NO beeta.. they are not good kids. You stay inside and watch TV and play your video game.
Indian parents can be very demanding and they don't value sports and other extracurricular activities. Most of them just want their kids to study all the time, and qualify for competitive examinations such as the UPSC. The schools also follow the same strategy. Each day, the kids spend 7-8 hours in the school surroundings. And when they reach home, there will be homework and other stuff which may take another 2-3 hours. In the end, there is hardly any time for any other activity. On top of that, in urban areas most of the families reside in apartment buildings where there is hardly any open playground. On top of that, the families don't interact with each other a lot and remain under their own shell.

Cricket seems to be a game of 3rd world countries - where young boys play it in streets and on road. In my country - a part from players there are two other boys who have to pick up wickets when the vehicle arrives and quickly puts it back to start the match again. Even then they grow up to become Imran Khan and Waseem Akram. What a life we live!

Maybe this is one of the reasons why cricket is so popular in South Asia. It can be played in narrow lanes and alleys. On the other hand, other sports such as football and field hockey requires a much larger space. In my childhood, we had some open space near our home and we used to play cricket there. But all those open spaces are gone now, replaced with concrete jungle. But still cricketing activity goes on, as the kids make use of whatever space that is available. Once in a while we get complaints of broken window panes or the ball hitting someone's head.. but apart from that everything is fine.  Grin

But that same thing can be said about football in this region. Football doesn't take either a lot of money or a lot of space so by that theory football should have been the most popular sport in this region but that is not the case.

I think it's just because people's tastes can vary because of different regions. The people of this region simply like cricket a lot. And you know that with football at least a good amount of open space is needed but with cricket that is not really necessary. So, that can be a reason why cricket is generally a lot more popular in this region.

1xBit recovered their reputation

Even though some good things are happening for the cricket players around the world I think Australia should start validating their own players a little more. I don't know why they will not give players a good enough salary. The players are getting a lot of money from IPL and also other franchise cricket and that's why I think they are not saying anything. If they did not have that luxury I think there could have been some problems regarding this situation.
Cricket in India and Australia were completely different. Cricket is the national game of Australia, for the same we can't expect things to be same as India. In India they celebrate cricket and they celebrate the cricketers. In Australia they're common as you and me. So, making business out of India is an easier thing than the same being done in Australia. This is the reason why IPL is a big success and pay big for the players.

I think it actually should be like Australia. Cricket should be a  part of your life and not all of your life. But cricket being so popular in India also has its benefit. India is able to make so much money from cricket which is unbelievable. In Australia, cricket will never be as popular as it is in India because in Australia people play a lot of different games. There is a place for almost any game in Australia but that is not the case in India.

In Australia there are many games popular not just cricket. That's why in Australia people are not that much crazy for cricketers like in India. India is a country of 1.3 billion people and they are just crazy about cricket. That's why there is so much business in India about cricket then in rest of the world. BBL the Aussie league is no way near to IPL.

But cricket should not be a sport only for third-world countries. Cricket is known to be A gentleman's game and I think that is where I don't agree.

Cricket should be a game for all. But instead, there are a lot of discrimination and racial things going on. A lot of kids love to play cricket and they will also really love to be professional cricket players but it can always happen that they don't have the backup. Cricket is regularly played in only a few countries and for a lot of countries and even in those countries which play cricket regularly a lot of people cannot take cricket as their main profession.

A good review about Australian cricket and BBL but here we have one more issue this time Australians have no luxury of time like we have in the Sub-Continent so they have to settle this between their International tours so this is also a big issue for them and case they have no local Australian players secondly they are never been good in paying their salaries disputes has a long history so just this is another case mostly local players don't like to play this BBL.

I am watching Australian cricket for a long time and now they have never been good to pay and their many players leave just because of this and try to settle in England for better finances in cricket even right now mostly love to play IPL as they have very handsome income from this franchise.

But now good things happening many countries are offering franchise cricket which is helping these players for having good salaries even it is not possible for the player they can join them as bowling, batting and fielding coaches which is also have a good salary.

Even though some good things are happening for the cricket players around the world I think Australia should start validating their own players a little more.
