I also once read a news about the use of the blockchain as a medium of financing of terrorism. They choose the blockchain, because the blockchain can not be controlled by the government.
I think they're using the anonymous feature of Bitcoin to make some transactions that supports those terrorism but that problem isn't clear yet, maybe yes but maybe no it's not true. Noone can confirm that fact unless the insiders.

No, I do not think that bitcoin contributed to the increase in crime. Criminals using fiat money too but nobody cares about it.
Bitcoin is a freely currency that anyone can invest and use so even the criminals can use it freely. Bitcoin can use on illegal businesses and other stuffs. It depends on how the people will use bitcoin. Bitcoin is just like an innocent kid.

As i see this topic, i wonder what does criminals do to be involve in bitcoin. I think criminals using bitcoin isn't possible because bitcoin has its very own security, so how would that criminals can get into bitcoin? That ain't east just to think of.
