I bought close to the peak in late 2013. I invested also in some altcoins back then and ended up losing 7k€. I felt really sad after losing the money but nowdays I have much better understanding on what to invest in and I know to avoid shitcoins. Cheesy

I remember in 2009/2010 almost buying bitcoin when it was just below a dollar, did not end up buying because I needed the money back then (stupid decision) then completely forgot about it till the spike to 1000, then bought at the beg of the year at around 220$.

Yeah I did. And I bought more at $900, then more at $800, then more at $600...I think all in all I bought about $20k at those prices.

Never did sell.

Sold 200 btc waaaay back at $10 when it was an all time high. Now I'm scarred and can't ever sell btc again because of that decision. Sad

You can try selling an amount after few days as the price may most probably reach $550 but your loss is going to be huge. Many people bought bitcoins when it was $1000 and they are still holding their coins. Buying too much at those high prices is too risky. I hope that you are able to sell those coins though.

If he/she bought again at $200, they would have eliminated most of the losses at if they sold it now. I guess most people would find it difficult to buy again, if they bought at those

prices, but it's the only way to work yourself out of that situation. Bitcoin is still volatile enough to trade your way out of that situation. We should just accept that this will be a

high risk investment. It could just as easily went up to $10 000 ....What will these people say then?

No that is a lot of money to buy I prefer that bitcoins goes 200 dollars so I can buy.
I don't have that much money to buy bitcoins.

Something tells me that you won't see anymore prices of $200 in order to buy! You had about 10 months to buy at these prices. That was more than enough time to get into the game!

I put all my savings (around USD 5000) at the very peak. I am currently broke and would need some of the money but I subsequently spent it all on pizza (last food order I placed with BTC was in September IIRC) because I believe in crypto *currency* Smiley

No hard feelings, it's just money and I could get a well paid job if I really wanted but I live in a first world country so I manage never the less.

I bought at below 1000 once and i manage to sell back at 800. I only lose a hundreds.

You haven't lost anything until you sell for under the price you buy. So anyone who bought at peak and still holding hasn't lost a bean.

unless he invested so much money and then he need it for emergencies, so he must dump to have them back or he must use a depreciated bitcoin, which is in both case equal to lose your money...

I didn't, at the time I thought that I missed my chance and just said fuck this, I'm never going to make profits off this price. It went back down and I still couldn't afford to buy bitcoins at the time. I waited until earlier this year. That's when I saw my chance.

Hey all, just as the title says, did anyone buy bitcoin when it's price was at it's peak ($1200)? And did they sell as it was dropping, or did they still hold on? I personally felt something was happening when it peaked :-/

So, back to the topic. Did anyone buy, and did they sell as it dropped? How much did they lose? Did you feel really really sad? What kind of an emotional impact did it have on you?

Tons of people bought at $1200 i think its safe to say judging by the volumes on exchanges at the time.  I think i bought a couple @ $900 myself, my feelings are i just went numb to price and tbh i dont really care until we see $3k or $5k.

i never know bitcoin went upto 1200 lol, i thought the highest was around 1000. i started using bitcoin when it was around 1000 but didnt really buy much. i remember buying like 0.01 coins

1,254 or something is where it topped out! lol  I didn't have any at that time.

>$1200 was the price on mtgox when it was in its death throes. Everyone was madly buying bitcoin there coz they couldn't withdraw cash and bitcoin seemed the only way out.
The price on reliable exchanges at the time was more like $1167 (finex) and even that was probably affected by the gox price. Not a big difference I guess, but worth mentioning.

PS what advantages do you get by having a dopecoin, rather than just using bitcoin?

I repeat this lots of times. REAL investors are incredibility patient and if you want to play with the big boys, you need to implement that habit. Buying when the price goes up and selling as soon u see a few of red candles s gonna make you lose money 100%. Just stick to your coins and wait for July 22 2016.

wow you've made a good decision, holding your bitcoin when the price down, if i was on your position i might sold them, but it doesn't mean anything since bitcoin will going to hit the $1k again, and you can sell your bitcoin
