Hey all, just as the title says, did anyone buy bitcoin when it's price was at it's peak ($1200)? And did they sell as it was dropping, or did they still hold on? I personally felt something was happening when it peaked :-/

So, back to the topic. Did anyone buy, and did they sell as it dropped? How much did they lose? Did you feel really really sad? What kind of an emotional impact did it have on you?

I remember selling bitcoins person to person when it passed 1100-1200 mark, and when i talked to people about why they are investing and their plans,
they mostly had similar answers - that they are very optimistic about bitcoin and how they will hold for longterm. The funny thing is, that they forgot all
about that once it started dipping under , and soon enough - they sold at a loss.

Nope I didn't. But I rather have bought them at that price than losing them all on MTGox!

...

No, but I did buy my first BTC when the price was in the $700s, headed lower.   I have been a steady buyer since.  If I had to add it all up, my best guess is that break-even for me is the $450 - $500 range.

If we get moves upwards to $1200 again, I will continue to buy.  Breaking past its ATH would be a GREAT sign that BTC will do very well given time.

Yeah I did. And I bought more at $900, then more at $800, then more at $600...I think all in all I bought about $20k at those prices.

Never did sell.

Sold 200 btc waaaay back at $10 when it was an all time high. Now I'm scarred and can't ever sell btc again because of that decision. Sad

The highest I ever bought at was at $690 and it dropped to 600 fast lol.  A person we know bought 4
at 900 (ouch) he then panic'd and sold the 4 at $500 a month or so later. Gotta buy and hold people!

If someone bought it then and never sold it at that price I feel bad for them losing so much money but there will be a time it will climb higher than that

to be honest i never did buy bitcoin during $1200 also i didn't sell my bitcoin in that price because i was late and never felt bitcoin reach to $1200 and when i know about bitcoin and start to collect it the highest price of bitcoin is only $700

Same thing happens with most of us we need to be more focussed on Bitcoin and keep a track of all the fluctuations because during these fluctuation we can earn more profit . i.e when the price is high sell it and when the price dips down buy it

Very rarely people would have bought Bitcoin during $1200 and most of them would have tried selling their BTC I wish I had stored some bitcoins to sell it during that peak time

I know bitcoin when it reaches $1200 did not last long. i also know bitcoin when the price of $1000, even my first sell when the price at $800

I bought my coins when BTC was going at $10 per coin. Some of my friends bought Bitcoin when the rate was $0.1 per coin (mostly in 2010 and 2011). I don't know anyone who bought the coins in 2013 December, when the peak price ($1,200 as per Mt Gox, $1,050 in BTC-e) was reached. IMO, at that time, most of the buyers were from China and Hong Kong.

No, I didn't buy because to invest in something you should have extra money and what I normally have is just the amount to buy food, to pay bills and to spend a bit on fun. But even if I had the money I wouldn't buy at $1200. At the time I thought that  the fair price for 1 BTC is $1000 and that it will drop from $1200 to $1k and will stay there forever. I was wrong obviously. )

I do not buy it when the price of BTC $1200, because I think this will be a very big risk if prices go down very much.

Its those time that I really got interested to bitcoin but never really bought. I was earning through the giveaways of generous individuals here during that time. Smiley When it dropped, left the forum and suddenly encounter a bitcoin job while gradually learning the technology. Its sure a serious blow if you've bought btc at its peak.
