The more i think about it, i'm getting hit harder. When i started getting into the altcoin scene with all the buying and trading, i felt that it was really easy because buying 1 full BTC is easily affordable as long as it was <$500 and altcoins' prices were low too. And so, with 1 Bitcoin, just 1, i could easily buy 1000s, 100 000s or 1 000 000 of said altcoins after doing lots of research and tracking.
Now here is the thing. If say 1 BTC rises to more than $1000, $3000, $5000...it is also true that its harder to get said altcoins at said amounts, not forgetting that altcoin's have their own price too (even more ex if it goes up together with bitcoin's price).
so using DigiByte as an example:
$250 = 1 BTC. I buy 1 BTC and buy Digibyte at 20 SAT = 5 million DGB
$500 = 1 BTC. I buy 1 BTC and buy Digibyte at 50 SAT = 2 million DGB. BUT if i want 5 million DGB, i will need 2.5 BTC and it will cost me $1250.
See the big diff between $250 and $1250 with only 2 small changes in prices???
Even if i am able to convert FIAT > ALTCOIN directly and not FIAT > BITCOIN > ALTCOIN, it doesn't change the situation much as currently, all altcoins' prices are based on Bitcoin's price measured in Satoshi.
Thinking about the Year 2016
The year 2016 will be very happening and interesting if the world of cryptocurrency doesn't get obstructed, crushed and destroyed by whatever (including by itself). putting all that aside and thinking about 2016, be it start mid or end of 2016, just looking at the projects from said altcoins and various startups, we can expect more than half of them to enter Beta or Launch Phase.
I haven't factor in how bad events can help to boost Bitcoin/Altcoin. For e.g., global market crash. But just thinking from the developers point of view, about how they go about with their projects and scheduled datelines, and what will happen at certain stages like Beta and Launch Phase, also knowing that there are many other cryptocurrency projects that are in the works besides theirs, yea...that's the picture i am getting.
Conclusion
Everyone, be glad you are in this early into the altcoin scene...or rather...the Digibyte Scene. those who just got in, you better speed up your research and act decisively fast.
my advice is - before the end of 2015. You don't wanna get in when projects are done.
For those who were early...i advice doing some kind of "go-through-all-resources-and-notes" kind of thing. like tidy up here and there, what to backup, what to keep track of, change and record passwords, split up huge amounts in addresses into smaller amounts, etc. Just to reorganize and get more prepared. Whatever is obselete and gone or are no longer of any use, may want to just put it one side for future references. store them some where.
CHEERS EVERYONE!
