Please could members of the DigiByte community write individual brief statements about how they feel the first year of DGB went.  Also, please include your favourite moment and what you anticipate in the future.  These statements will go into the book.

How can we improve this basic description of DigiByte multi-algorithm mining?

Quote
DigiByte uses five independent mining algorithms to process transactions over the network. Each algorithm accounts for about 20% of all blocks discovered on the network. This allows for greater decentralization as currently three of the five DigiByte algorithms are ASIC resistant and much better for GPU miners. The best GPU algorithms to mine on are Skein, Groestl and Qubit. It is still possible (but not recommended) to mine all five algorithms with a CPU.

SHA256 is heavily dominated by used Bitcoin ASICS as DigiByte provides an attractive market to miners who can no longer competitively mine Bitcoin with their used ASICS.  Scrypt is now becoming more dominated by ASICs, however it is still possible to GPU mine a few DigiBytes each day.
also this to think about.

http://dgbmap.com/ beta. Still a few things need working on and once I'm happy with the API I will expose it to the public.

Cheers.
cool stuff and compared to bitcoin nodes, we are more 'out there' than most would give us credit for!
https://getaddr.bitnodes.io/

a few tweaks before going public and when I say tweaks I don't think he means like the twoeeks BFL and BA used to tell their customers.  Grin

and just a reminder for anyone who has not joined our new forum and that must be loads of you!

Having an issue with my Digibit wallet not synchronizing...just happened today only saying "Connecting..." on the bottom of the wallet.  Any idea why I am not connecting to any peers?
Maybe you can try to reset/resync the blockchain?

yes, but the person who fills his order is a knob!  Grin

Some decent debate going on here and I think we have fleshed most of it out. What we really need is faster easy ways of converting fiat to DGB.

and

I didn't say anyone who spends their DGB is a fool, I said anyone who spends ALL of their DGB is a fool, especially if they mined it!

One day i was reading here some members talking DigiByte exchance this idea in trashcan?
yes, I'm sure Jared was talking about that at one point, I remember reading it somewhere at sometime. I don't know, i imagine it may still be in the pipeline but there are so many things going on with this coin.
Exactly,  You are spot-on.  At the old website you could see a "roadmap" and there you could see the DGB exchange is in development.

Most of the DGB I currently have has been amassed via mining and they are very hard to part with at the current rate, as I'm already running a big loss after costs...

I use Amazon quite alot, and would be very happy to use my DGB instead of my credit card if I could buy them a little easier. Right now I have to do a wire transfer to Cryptsy (takes a minimum of 5 working days), pay a fee for the wire transfer, then convert to BTC, then buy DGB with my BTC and pay another fee for that, then I have to withdraw to my wallet and pay another fee for that! I don't see others going to that much trouble to use another currency when they can just bang in their CC number and be done with it. IMO this is the real reason the general consumer is not taking much interest in crypto currencies right now and until this gap is closed, most people holding crypto are speculative hoarders, myself included... Not because I want to, but because it's the only way I can justify the effort to get them.

With this in mind, creating products that can only be purchased with DGB is a good option and something we are implementing in our project. We're still a long way off from launch though (Not until early 2016)

In the meantime, anybody know an easier way for me to convert my aussie dollars into DGB???

Check if there is any BTC ATM around you ---> http://www.coindesk.com/bitcoin-atm-map/
