It is only here where I see these sort of questions, alts having a chance against bitcoins? who knows!, who can predict the future? Bitcoin was the first and will be the first coin that allways will be remembered, for the next 5 years Bitcoin will be the marketleader, but look at what IOTA has done only from the announcement of partnering with Microsoft, do not underestimate the good projects that are around.

Bitcoin was supposed to be a P2P currency system, however given the current high price and speculation level. It's probably more like an investment asset. It will take a while for 2nd layer solution to help reduce the fees to bring back the currency feature. In short term, there might be some opportunity for alts in payment area. But once bitcoin scaling issue is resolved and price stabilized, it will be hard for alts to win from the most popular crypto.

In other area though, like the smart contracts, connected devices, prediction market etc. Alts has plenty of opportunities, they might never be the no.1 crypto from a market cap point of view, but they do add important building blocks to the whole crypto ecosystem.

With a normal altcoin, that would not happen, more than 2000 altcoins were born for the purpose of replacing bitcoin. However, the value of bitumen is increasing. I think. There will not be any altcoin that can replace bitcoin

yes. I think there will be some altcoin, which will fight bitcoin, most altcoin are technologically superior to bitcoin. However, it is not as popular as bitcoin. and bitcoin's dev is an anonymous person. That makes a difference. If 1 altcoin does that. bitcoin will be overthrown

I have been seeing Bitcoins' price rising with a stability in its growth, but due to the higher mining fee that is being levied on transactions these days, big businesses are now moving their funds towards alts and taking advantage with their least fees as well as shaping a completely new economy in the trends of altcoin markets. Do you think this may harm Bitcoin's dignity and open up a chance in real for alts to rise?

Against bitcoin I don't see any chance on them but about their own project they could be good among other alts.

Bitcoin is always in good when it comes to cryptocurrency altcoin is good also but  they are defferents characters  in bitcoin marketing .we are free to choose what is our best  in making bitcoin success so for now we cant tell  if Altcoin have the chance against Bitcoin.

I think that LTC lately has grown up, showing it's potential thanks to the possible SegWit implementation.
But as can be observed, ETH has also a big chance to take a lot of the market ( and already has, after bitcoin.

If scaling continues or banks, in a grand scheme to bring cryptocurrencies down, only manage to hurt bitcoin (which is highly unlikely as they would rather have the entire ship sink than blast off only a small chunk of it and let it sail further), then maybe, but as we currently stand it's not entirely predictable, it's rather unlikely.

Bitcoin will always be the king of cryptocurrencies world. Maybe some altcoins have moved faster than bitcoin, like dash, monero, etc.

It depends on the project and how will people absorb it and read the whitepaper of this coin. for me IOTA is gonna kill the blockchain ledger coz of its unique tangled. but right now bitcoin popularity is too big

The difficulty is educating the average person. When a coin comes with an easy wallet in a mobile app with an easy exchange to buy with visa/PayPal with a big marketing budget and some big names talking about it in the media then we will see some competition.

Until then bitcoin is the face of crypto that Joe bloggs recognises.

Sooner or later bitcoin will burst!  BTC becomes like a soap bubble.. And if its position was shaken, the ETH can get ahead. Many violas looks secure, for example OMG. OMG the price is stable, and almost does not depend on the price of BTC.

Difficult situation.. the cryptocurrency Market changes every day and drastically, it is impossible to say what will happen in a year or two years. But bitcoin now plays the role of rod, which hold altcoins. But it is temporary. Some altcoins have become independent from BTC.

I think that BITCOINS are very far away from ALTCOINS now,It is widely used crypto currency which is very popular and is in high demand in market. I think that there is chance to beat BITCOINS now because it has already reached to the highest peak now. But there are some ALTCOINS which are having some good market potential like : Ethereum. But still the the final destination is very far for ethereum.

Not that literally to cause harm into bitcoin because there are really time that people will tend to go into those altcoins since they also have different usages and purposes and we must be open into the possibility that altcoins do also have the capability and capacity to grow just like bitcoin can do. But the chances for these alts to surpass bitcoin is really far enough to impossible to happen nowadays.

I think in recent time of period the chance of alternative cryto to cross over  BTC is impossible. But in the revolution of cryto currency world it would be possible if there is better tecnology which can provide more transperency and more secure than BTC

The best minds of the planet are thought over by the bit code for 9 years already, and many good alts still have to go through it! many alts are code bitcoin + chip - security network! the more things you will need to cover all the needs of the market! and the coins are simply spread out in niches and there is no need for someone to win!

We cannot just ignore alts coins because it's also having a growth we cannot denie that altcoin also cost a few money almost a half or more of a bitcoin that means they are also profitable.
Nope I don't see any chance of other alts to take over bitcoin. Bitcoin firmly take it's place. And day by day its getting more and more popular. Though there are transaction issues in bitcoin, its value is the main thing. People are not likely to invest or put their money in any kind of risk, so many people avoid other alts.

I have been trading with alts for 2 months and as I can see alts are bringing more profit than btc anyway. They do bring more profits in 2 ways, when btc rises their price based on btc rise and when they have events they do rise by themselves. Which gives them pretty much chance.
