I have no experience with airdrop and I have not received any free coin before since I got into cryptocurrency,  this is because of my prior knowledge of how to scam the bounty projects have become lately and seen how most altcoins projects always end up as scams so it is not worth the time.

I have also heard some good stories about bounties on this forum but most of the good stories are from way back in 2017-2018.

needles to say there are many airdrops that is still beneficial like aptos, had you followed it you got good chance of having good rewards but overall there are so many airdrops that are purely useless.
the thing is to find some real good airdrops you need to repeatedly follow all these airdrops because no one could know how much value it's gonna have and how much you could earn from airdrops.
even though just finding the fact that some project that did airdrops are having good devs team that kind of guarantees the outcome it still hard to see how much you can earn from the airdrops so getting too much reliant in these airdrops in general is a mistake.
i'd say, take airdrops only for side hustle that didn't guarantee any outcome. because most of the time you'll get nothing.
And that is the problems with airdrops, even if the amount was small as long as people could get that amount in a reliable way then their efforts as bounty hunters will not be wasted, but since many of those airdrops are scams or the never pay their bounty hunters then looking for airdrops has become a complete waste of time, which explains why over the years the interest on bounty hunting seems to have dropped considerably.
If the airdrops are surely paying then, there is no problem with it. It's only up to the person that does the airdrops because sometimes there are airdrop hunters who are not really grateful on the reward that they get but they did not realize that the workload that they apply in doing the task is only minimal. Airdrops are different from the bounties.

I think there are ways to know if the bounty is paying or not compared to an airdrop because bounties have what we called a campaign manager. We can just apply to a bounty with a reputable campaign manager and it will be better if the funds are already at their hands or it was escrowed.

I'm still looking for aidrops even though most of them are scams. And even though some pay back to the hunters, they cannot be exchanged, and that is our risk because the current crypto trend is not as good as it was a few years ago.

Yeah, I see where you're coming from. Surely those people that fell for it would learn it anyway but if they did not that's where it is safe to call them the "s" word. I've been a victim of such scams before, and even got my private key almost stolen from airdrop emailed to me, but I learned it the hard way though it was complete stop for me on pursuing these types of airdrops anymore.

Some other users mentioned in here a better way of hunting airdrops, but I'll pass on that.

indeed now we have to be careful playing airdrop because when you connect your personal wallet you can get a virus or get phishing in your wallet you have to look deeper

Almost all airdrop videos on YouTube are all scams, do not try hunting for airdrops using YouTube videos, those airdrops links in Youtube videos are all fake links and once you connect your wallet your tokens will be wiped out.

Find the project team or the o projects official telegram group and ask them if they are doing any airdrops or giveaways, this is the perfect way to expose or know the truth about any airdrop campaign.

Let's be careful what we connect our crypto wallets to.

    -    At that point you are right there, I recently watched new airdrops on a youtube channel, I just don't remember the name of the channel, because it is still new and the subscribers are not yet 100, I watched the video and platform which was in the video he was showing, then when I checked the website platform of what he was saying, I saw that they didn't have launchpad airdrops, instead, it was done.

I doubted it because the wallet needs to be connected, then to receive airdrops you need to pay a gas fee of bep20, I'm allergic to that style of airdrops so I just commented in the comment section on his channel that he's a scammer.

There was a time when I worked on a lot of airdrops.  The time was 2017.  Back then almost every project was a success due to which almost every Airdrops got some kind of payment.  Scam rates were low back then. But nowadays most Airdrops are scams.  Payment is very low.  So currently working on Airdrop is worthless.

It won't help much either.  Because now most of the projects are scams so even if they distribute tokens, those tokens do not have any value in the market or are not listed on the exchange. So instead of wasting time doing Airdrops, valuable time should be put to good use

Still participants in many kinds of airdrop and based on my experienced still worth by joining airdrop project, but not the same with last five years ago where filled the form and coins directly sending to our wallet and available selling on etherdelta exchange market with values more than $50.

Right now need joining many kinds airdrop more than ten until sixteen if want earn profitable, not all coins from airdrop worth or have values because many kinds of airdrop distributed with few cent reward only and not enough converted fees sending. I don't try stop in join with many airdrop kinds because in weekly or monthly always have coins received from airdrop project although with not huge amount.

Airdrop hunting is no longer lucrative and I'll consider it as a waste of time and effort. Secondly, there's a risk of loosing your information to the wrong person's as those information could serve as a tool for hacking or luring you to be hacked. I'll prefer to stay away from airdrops as they no longer worth the time, effort, and risk.
Season of earning massive profits via airdrop is gone and I don't think such an opportunity would unveil itself again, then most of the new projects distribute their tokens reaned via airdrops apart from tokens earned from bounty hunting once those  tokens got listed in exchange definitely there are reasonable and valuable rewards for the holders, but now 99% of airdrops is worthless and waste of time as matter of fact some developers require some ETH in exchange for airdrop token, personally I had diverted my attention to other ventures.
It was never found reasonable to join airdrops at this time. I'd see huge changes happen compared to 5 years ago when most of us are getting crazy participating in them but for now, they are rejected knowing the fact that they are scams. Might some airdrops be true to their promise, yes they give tokens to the participants but too unfortunately still can sell them as they are not yet listed on any exchanges. Still useless and indeed a waste of time.

You are both right. It's been very difficult to benefit from the airdrop right now, and it probably won't return. But I feel it will be replaced by another trend that will give crypto users quick money because it seems like a repeating cycle in the crypto world. And now, when airdrops are not profitable anymore, people have to try to find other ways and I see they are still hunting for airdrops that are still there in the hope of being as profitable as before. I think now is the time to invest instead of hunting for airdrops because it may soon be time for the market to reverse course and have another altcoin season and a bull run.

For me nowadays  I don't want to participate in airdrops it because nowadays there are many scam air drops there during the event of airdrops. Not all but some nowadays I DONT KNOW why there are many scam sites promising good airdrops but when there project got loss then that will leave you in the air. But there are few project that good and successful so some people still receive good tokens.

Well it's true that we need to avoid airdrops that needed to connect to our wallet but not every airdrop needs to connect to our wallet. I never do airdrops anymore since most of them are not like airdrops but more like a task that we need to complete and then give them the benefit but the token is not guaranteed will be worth something.

Right, late 2017 if I remember it correctly and then first quarter of 2018, but after that airdrops are that worth anymore. Projects decided to just gave small amounts as compare to before and then there are a lot of bounty cheaters that force project to be really on the look out for this kind of indivuals.

And then there are projects that blatantly scams too, saying that they will give this amount of bounties and then chance it in the last minute.

Also projects that ask for private keys or some form of money just to give their airdrops, Lol, that is scam by itself.

We cannot compare Airdrops from the past and how it is now so best to remind yourself if this is still worth it or not? because the way airdrops being advertise now it is given that they are only luring stupid people to let them becomg popular and earn while airdroppers will be losers.
I forget about this since years ago because of constant scam accusations  i have been reading , lucky that i never become one since day one.
The word "stupid" is a harsh description for those people that are still trying to do those though. Let's just call it "inexperienced" instead. There are some recent replies pointing out that there are somehow still legitimate airdrops going on, but I ain't going to try to attempt them regardless since I do not have the time to do another airdrop hunts again like I usually do before.

It's just not worth it in my own time. Others might enjoy it though so good for them.
but sometimes mate we need to impose what we wanna try to say and by that realization will come to those who are still helping scam project to succeed , actually most of them can be called "Willing Victims" and that is a sad part why those airdrops succeed in their intention .
those who has plenty of time to spend may take this as funny and enjoyable thing  but for us who has limited time and more focus in life? i'm afraid that we will be partaking one of those airdrops anymore.

I never hunted for airdrops. I’ve found that the best ones usually thrust themselves upon you for owning BTC. Drops (or more accurately forks) like BCH were extremely nice for Bitcoin holders. Then their were the airdrops you actually had to take part in like HEX which also turned out to be a nice free gift… Nowadays I think airdrops you hunt for are mostly scams that try to lure you into their ecosystem.

I am quite experienced in airdrops and I already have my own strategy in dealing with this, I don't use the main wallet to enter as an airdrop participant because the danger that might get is a dusting attack which, like you said, loses the coins in the wallet, actually we don't know which is a real airdrop trap on YouTube, Telegram, Facebook and others from a project and the possibility of winning is small, so it's important for us to have a spare wallet to do that so that valuable coins can be safely stored in the main wallet.

The era of airdrops that could bring us huge profits has long been over. Currently, most airdrops will turn out to be scams. Although some airdrops can be profitable, it may not be worth it because they have to wait for the token to find a place on exchanges. And from day to day, token holders must keep waiting for further information from the project when they can sell their tokens.

Maybe they can still look for the airdrops, but it's better not to force them to participate, especially if the airdrop program requires complete KYC because we don't know how strong they can protect our data.

Not all but I have to admit that the majority are just a waste of time and effort.
I have been participating in airdrops before and I would say that they will pay you good amounts and really profitable. But unfortunately, the trend has changed and it is just about to happen that scam/fake airdrops have been growing fast. As we can see, airdrops are flooded in the market but people are rejecting them because they are useless and they might compromise your personal information especially if they are asking for your KYC.
But indeed for now the comparison is one in a hundred and maybe even a thousand because indeed for Airdrop at this time most of it is just other than shitcoin, namely fraud, nothing more than that.
The condition is actually the same regardless of anything even though it was really good at first in the end it will also end up being wasted without anything else.

Even though I don't forbid or suggest it, on the other hand we also have to be aware of how much time is wasted and how much profit is generated, we have to be able to compare things when it's answered then you know what steps to take.
