To be exact, Bitcoin and altcoins are actually crypto, and their nature is no different. The only difference is that Bitcoin is the world's first crypto, so Bitcoin has formed a strong consensus. Consensus maintains the price of Bitcoin will not collapse.

Yes and no at the same time. If Bitcoin dies, then cryptomania will die. BUT! This is most likely not going to happen. On the contrary, Bitcoin will be developed and implemented in other areas. As for assertion, it will disappear over time. It simply will not make sense when Bitcoin is used everywhere.

Assuming worst and BTC reaches 0, alts will be literally dead... for a while but after that they will probably start recovery. People will find something else to replace it, show must go on.

I still think that all altcoins are very dependent on what position bitcoin will occupy. It is still the leader among all coins, and its fall or complete disappearance will have a negative impact on all existing cryptocurrencies.

If the bitcoin curshes more all the cryptocurrencies take big hit and would die.. There is no connections with the bitcoin and altcoins market, those are seperated but actually it is in the just one market. So when the bitcoin price falls the altcoin markets falls too. And i don't know why 2 markets instead of one. I have millions of unanswered questions and every new day i am loosing my beliefs to the bitcoin and the cryptocurrency..

Bitcoin is a digital platform on which the economy of the future will be built! Bitcoin is all ahead.

From the RFI, DARPA is also seeking deeper insight into the idea that participants in permissionless distributed protocols behave with their economic interests at heart. In this regard, the DoD agency is interested in “methods that leverage rigorous economic notions to advance theories of security for distributed, permissionless computation protocols.”

Additionally, DARPA is also seeking the means by which the unintended or intended centralization of a distributed consensus protocol can be analyzed and/or addressed. This is in recognition of the fact that permissionless distributed protocols may have certain aspects which are centralized and this may impact the security of the protocol, regardless of the theoretical guarantees.

It's different, bitcoin and crypto. They are different. Crypto is bigger than bitcoin, bitcoin is part of crypto. It's clear to be understood right? So, if only someday bitcoin die, it doesn't mean crypto will also die. Crypto has more form, unless all the type die to. But, bitcoin will never die, it will have its bright day soon, even though the situation now seems uncertain for that, but I believe the worst day and the best one will take turn.

This is not true, altcoin technology is not only "mee too coins" and "reintention of wheel". It can also work as a more powerful pipe than bitcoin has. Realize how slow and crappy bitcoin network is.

Altcoins have their own technology, even if Bitcoin is worthless. Altcoin technology will not go anywhere.

It can surely affect a lot, more coins will lose its value, If ever Bitcoin become dead (which is not possible now) I think a new coin will become a base coin and when that new king of the market reach very good results people will surely come back to the original prime coin which is Bitcoin.

Bitcoin has the platform that most of the people in crypto hub are already familiar with, I don't think they will leave the platform just like that.
Bitcoin has been the benchmark of almost all other cryptocurrencies, as the most influential and popular cryptocurrency from across the world, I think its death can definitely affect the death or downfall of cryptomania. At some point, I believe that if its going to happen, a new evolution of cryptocurrency is set to take place. However, I don't think Bitcoin's game is over, it has come so far and it will certainly sustain its dominance. Let's all strongly support and promote not only for its increasing demand but in spreading awareness on how truly beneficial Bitcoin is.

Bitcoin is responsible for the cryptos boom and without it the crypto market is useless. The only way the crypto market to take off from bitcoin is if there would arise in the future some other altcoin that would face the the power of bitcoin.

I think if Bitcoin were to die out then this would not be the end of cryptomania since I think that its lead role would be taken my another coin and crypto will survive its fall.

In essence, the creation of Bitcoin was the beginning of the crypto world. And all those "high-tech currencies" and all developers and all traders are obliged to the creators of Bitcoin and Bitcoin itself. Don't forget about this invaluable contribution of Bitcoin. I am sure that many smart people do that. That belief in Bitcoin will not allow it to disappear. There is not a single real reason why Bitcoin can wait for the end now.
But the high-tech nature of other crypto currencies still doesn't make them even equal to Bitcoin. Therefore, now to discuss the issue of the future "superaltcoin", which will take the place of Bitcoin irrelevant.

Does the death of Bitcoin also mean the death of cryptomania??

What you say can be true especially coins that come from mining, except centralized coins created by banks such as Ripple for example.
If we pay close attention, every new coin that appears, always seems to drop the coins of its predecessor, with the pretext that the innovation it carries can work better than its predecessor. For example, coin A will kill coin B, coin B will kill coin C and so on like that, indeed this thing can be said to be reasonable, because their nature is decentralized meaning that all conditions will return to their users, because only they who can determine the good and bad performance of cryptocurrency. I think it's time for us to abandon such assumptions, now we have to think more mature and don't let the coins we're proud of continue to decline in price.

If it happens that bircoin will be dead it can not kill the cryptomania world , because it is not only bitcoin that composes the cryptoworld but there are many altcoins that are surviving and might replace the throne of bitcoin, but the death of bitcoin are just mere speculations of people ,I think bitcoin and cryptocurrency has a longer way to go especially if the world really accepts and adopt this crypto technology.

Bitcoin will not die. I also think like as the specialists say "Bitcoin has been overpriced throughout the year"

At the beginning of 2017 the price of Bitcoin was $ 972,95 and then we witnessed the great climb on December 16, $ 19.535,70

We need to learn and understand what is happening. Bitcoin was born to give opportunities for a new economy. On our part, we can build it.

It is worth reading the following article and draws your own conclusions.

If Bitcoin were to completely bottom out, what would happen to the altcoins?

Follow the crypto superstar to a fiery death?  or  Skyrocket passed their predecessor?

I believe that Satoshi had a vision where blockchain technology and cryptocurrency would be the foundation of the world. But as we all know Rome wasn't built in a day(unlike bitcoins run to 20k). What if in this vision Bitcoin wasn't meant to be the gold of the internet but rather a mold of what should be created. When comparing bitcoin to its rivals, it is usually at a disadvantage in the technology department yet, it is still the most valued crypto. While Lightning network has been less than impressive, other crypto tech has been stealing the spotlight. Ripple is currently holding the fastest transaction time of roughly 3 seconds(avg. transaction time for bitcoin~60min). EOS while navigating a rough mainnet launch is dropping EON which looks to fundamentally solve problems within EOS. Investors are already talking about EON being crypto-gold in the near future.

Don't give up hope if Bitcoin does take a turn for the worst. Trust the Tech, better days are on their way.

I love the "Trust the tech" thing you said. It's really what drives us up to this point about the crypot in general and not in overall the financial gains it can lead us. The financial potential has been done with the hype from last year as it can only give us the a realistic one just like what Vitalik said.

if bitcoin is really dead then everything related to crypto will also die because I see the majority of all altcoins following bitcoin in all things, even the price also follows the price of bitcoin. even I think blockchain will also die.
I think that is clear. indeed the existence of all crypto depends on bitcoin. because here bitcoin has played an important role in development. so anything that happens to bitcoin will definitely happen to other coins.

I'm not sure if bitcoin is easy to turn off, bitcoin is a strong coin and they can always rise even though there are many problems that hit Bitcoin. Bitcoin can only die if the internet network and an investor do not exist in this world.
