The thing I think will have already called the attention of the authorities and so if it was a scam could not get away with it
What authorities? It's still full of well known fake website out there and nobody gives a shit...

Hopefully tomorrow or in the next few days the leaders of Halong give us the definitive proof that the device exists, it would be great to be able to believe that we are all honest. (also the Italians).

Hello everyone, a few days I follow this thread, I think it's time to say something, are by nature a sucker and the first news of the imminent launch of the "Dragonmint 16", I immediately bite the bait, that is, I wanted to do it but I have not made the pre-order because in addition to my doubts, the paranoid and conspiracy theorists have also felt that they managed to ruin my purchase project in a group of five units, but the situation is so paradoxical that even an Italian said I was a scammer.

My intention is to ask that people stop instilling sentences, better wait for the truth to surface.

The thing I think will have already called the attention of the authorities and so if it was a scam could not get away with it, would not go far, so for me all the stories about the sticker Photoshop or clones bitmain S9 etc. are just crap.

The company may be wrong in its marketing because it will have to work twice as long to make a new image in the market, but it is also true that they explained that the photo and video was a simple prototype, moreover they are working in absolute secrecy.

In short, stop poisoning the air and give them the time they have requested, unfortunately, even the paranoid behavior of the community and the speculative brokers bring down prices and put at risk many wonderful projects.

Hopefully tomorrow or in the next few days the leaders of Halong give us the definitive proof that the device exists, it would be great to be able to believe that we are all honest. (also the Italians).

I was looking at this page https://halongmining.com/shop/dragonmint-16t-miner/ for the first time and I enlarged the pictures: the first thing I noticed as soon as I enlarged pictures #1 and #2 is that they have a lot of digital noise, which reduces a lot the definition and the quality of the pictures, and this noise is everywhere in the pictures but in the DragonMint logo, which looks pretty much perfect, and this is not normal, because it should be quite noticeable. And the first thing I'd think is that the logo has been added in Photoshop after the pictures have been taken. Am I the only one who noticed this weird thing?

Yep, that has been added to the picture later, for sure!
Not a very good job either, the anti-aliasing on the edges of the dragon logo are blatantly obvious. That just could not possibly have come from a picture.
LOL!

So you are invited for that demo? or who is?!

Nope, not me. Someone else needs to report first hand.

Well it seems like Scott has gone dark.

He is probably swamped at the conference so that by itself should not be troubling.

They need to show something soon and something good. They know what they have to do but they just don't do it.

Saturday is D day. Demonstration Day for Halong and could be Doomsday for them if they do not open up right now.

Ugggh. I don't want to be a conspiracy theorist, but doesn't the MyRig twitter cover photo look really fucking suspicious? I'm assuming it to be some kind of "conference" or "event" where they were "present" but the logo on the wall on the left looks photoshopped in. Someone please tell me I'm looking to closely at this or am a dummy.

Well it seems like Scott has gone dark.

Occam's razor being what it is, this has the hallmarks of a scam and if it is, they made off with quite a bit of money.  Even applying hanlon's razor doesn't do much to assuage the doubts.

I am just disappointed that Adam Back seems to have been duped.

My only solace is that I went in on this adventure with a couple of friends so I am not out for the full amount on the order.
I still hope its legit but the recent announcement of the sia miner being so much more capable than the A3 does raise HUGE red flags.

You can't change physics no matter how hard you try.

At the risk of going off on a bit of a tangent, looking at the "current" offering of blake miners

a3 180 chips for 815 GH (4.5GH per chip)
halong unit - 135 chips for 3500 GH (25GH per chip)
obelisk - no idea how many chips are in the thing but they are claiming around the same performance as the bitmain units but at about half the power reqs (500w vs bitmains 1200)

Now, assuming that the obelisk is really getting 800GH for 500W even if the Halong unit has double the chips of the obelisk (to get to that 1000w mark) its still over twice the hash to watt rate as the obelisk.

The hash to watt difference between bitmain and obelisk could realistically be the difference between full custom and semi-custom chips as there is some precedence that shows full custom asics can outperform semi-custom ones.  The margins however are typically not this large.  Maybe if you are going from 28nm semi-custom vs 16nm full-custom you could get double the performance which would explain the difference between the obelisk and the A3, but to see a more than 2x performance increase again between the Obelisk and the Halong unit is pushing it.

Either its a typo on halongs part or they are doubling down on the scam.

It pains me to see the laziness of people and then again I see now why scams can persist. People simply don't do their research.

I already posted that it was supposed to be at " the James L Knight center, the same as the forum ". And the head of the forum just said that Halong isn't associated with it. It is all smoke and mirrors.

This is why I don't answer each one of your posts individually I went through an extensive process and put my information out, if you are too lazy to read it or direct message then I can't save you.

Can you please change your message settings to accept messages from newbies?  Thanks!

Scott, sales representative of halong and active in this forum offered to show the dragonminer during thr conference, which does not mean IN the conference, so it might be more a ‚private invite‘. However, nor Scott or Yoshi are responding so far

Does anybody know where in Miami  the demo event will be? I wrote to the organizers of the North American Bitcoin Conference in Miami and they said that Halong mining will not be there. I am really doubting that they are for real if they can not be at an established event, even as an exhibitor.  I doubt they will show up anywhere for a demo day.
Here is the email from the event organizers.

I tried to pm bt898, but site wouldn't let me since I'm a "newbie".  Any alternative for this info?

I'm a newbie who would like to PM bt898 too.  A friend of mine was trying to pressure me into ordering some of the miners after the most recent demos and I'm curious and alarmed about what I might learn!   Huh

The meeting we had was indeed for the James L Knight center, the same as the forum. Albeit the day after the event. Once again I don't doubt they show up with a box that shows some numbers that looks real, Scott will simply ferry the one from Wisconsin down to Miami.

I do have more information but I do not want to draw attention from some of the players in this game and become a target, that is how convoluted this whole thing is.

You can pm me like I said, if anyone wants my spot I will give you a contact for Halong and the time for my meeting and you can show up and hope there is someone there(doubt there will).

I have had one person pm me so far and I answered him. I've been very transparent and my original large post should be enough to illuminate the situation at hand.
