Anyone else remember the A1 Dragon Miner from Innosilicon???
It looks more and more like 2013-14 all over again! I know Notwarmfuzzy remembers them!!!!
Didn't BITMINE also contract Innosilicon for the development of the A1 CoinCraft chip? That project did not end well for BITMINE...
Aye matey, that I remember all too well. Thing is, the 28nm A1 chip (still debate as to whom the design belongs to, Inno or Bitmine.ch - very convoluted and disputed agreements between them) was not bad for it's time.
Ja the chip had 2 respins before it came close to original design spec and was supposed to be released early Nov 2013 as I recall. The chip was released by Inno Dec. 23, 2013 along with a 2-chip dev board for it. By late Feb 2014 the 1st Dragons and the clones of it were being sold
AND WERE NOT MONTHS-AHEAD PRE-ORDERS. It was Bitmine.ch and their North America distributor AMT that from day-1 did pre-orders starting around October 2013 - before ANY usable A1 chips were in the hands of devs. While the Dragon makers did things right and created their own PCB's using the dev boards just as a performance reference, Bitmine did not. They basically took the dev board and replicated it 8x on each hashboard... Speaking of that train wreck seems the
A1 CoinCraft thread is still alive and kicking with folks looking for their money...
Anywho, at least they were showing pics as the designs evolved.
My problem with Halong was they wanted a leap of faith with ZERO tangible evidence of their chips existence much less a usable miner. Like I've said before, Halong followed
every single step in the Scamming for Dummies Guidebook so wtf did they expect from veterans of the 2013-2014 scam wars? High praise and roses? If Halong had not prematurely put up their website and done pre-orders this whole thread would not be here.
With MyRig stepping in, ok, cool. FINALLY a company that folks here know and trust. The bit about Hotmine.io being interested would fit with the claim of making chips available to 3rd parties and again, they are a known company here. Now all that remains to be seen is if the miner can be reliably mass-produced.
edit: Kudos for the mods stripping out the warnings from my posts! After reading the MyRig announcement I was going to do it myself and was very surprised the mods had done it for me
