Liverpool is at the verge of crashing out of the EFL cup. Solanke had a beautiful goal and it was discounted for off side and it didn't take long that Solanke assisted Bergvall to reclaim the goal.
Liverpool is practically struggling to equalize the match while time is ticking so so fast. I saw the time at 85mins and within 1 min, it is now 90mins Grin
They will if they don't show strength, zeal, tenacity and hunger to win in their fortress during the second leg to turn over the tie in their favour. Tottenham on the other hand will be willing to fight for a spot in the finals, but i don't trust that Tottenham team because they are filled with inconsistency, where you will think Tottenham will perform, they will just disappoint you, i don't know if the players and its board doesn't need a trophy!

It's make sense for Liverpool to lose, both of them have created big chance, but both of them also lost the chance too.

But, Tottenham playing in their home and they're just more lucky in this match.

Liverpool should able to win with big margin in the second leg, while Arsenal is really questionable because Newcastle is one of strong team unlike Tottenham. Tottenham weren't win in the last four match.

Yeah it wasn't actually a boring game in terms of performances. The only disappointing part was to see only 1 goal in such a game.  Sad  There were 9 goals scored in their previous game against each other.

Liverpool found really critical goal opportunities but couldn't score any of them. That wasn't a good day for them. However it isn't a big score as it ended 1-0 therefore Liverpool can still make a comeback.

Bergvall is only 18 years old by the way. He became the hero of the game by scoring the winning goal in the last minutes.  Smiley  He must be feeling great about it.

Definitely, if Arsenal should repeat the performance of yesterday in the second leg without scoring a goal at least first to mount pressure on Newcastle in order for them to come out and play because i know they would like to their lead by all means possible. But if Newcastle should catch Arsenal on the break, boom, its gonna be a mountain for Arsenal to climb if the score turns to 3-0. Arsenal needs to play at their 200% best if they want to turn the tie around on their favour.

Arsenal will continue to have problems like these till they fix the issue they have. They don't have a a balanced team, but somehow they think they do. The amount of good players you have in your team doesn't matter if every position in the team is not balanced.
For reasons only known to Arteta, he's only focused on strengthening his defence. His midfield and attack is not balanced. The left side of the attack doesn't function well and the right is dead without Saka, but he doesn't care about that.
Theres no creativity in the midfield aside from Odergaard but Arteta isn't bordered about that.
I understand that defence is good, but no matter how good the defence is, they can win you trophies if your midfield cant keep balls and your attack isn't lethal.
They don't have a prolific goals scorer and now there interested in Araujo of Barcelona, Another central defender. I don't see the plan here. Getting quality defenders is good, but defence isn't the only part of the field that needs reinforcing.
More reason to show that Arteta is an average coach handling a team like Arsenal, i thought that by now he must have past the stage of building and the enter the stage of showing result for the club he has built. Its been more than 4 years now and his still building, what exactly is he building? I feel if he doesn't come out with any trophy this season, he might be sacked.

I know that this competition isn't that important for many clubs but wasting an opportunity to grab a title is quite sad.
Liverpool played with many top players, yet they missed to score and Tottenham Hotspur missed also some opportunities but they were able to win the game by only one goal and passed to the final game against Newcastle United which will be complicated and hard to guess the winner

Tottenham and Newcastle did not qualify for the final, both teams won their first legs before reaching the final. The trophy isn't important for Liverpool, but they played with their top players, and the Carabao Cup was the only trophy they won last season, so I'm sure it means a lot to them. Tottenham and Newcastle, on the other hand, will play a second leg to determine whether they will go to the final. Tottenham performance has been unstable, but if they play well defensively, they may go to the final.

Furthermore, it was a surprise when Tottenham, who had not won in their previous four games, ended Liverpool's 24-game undefeated streak across all competitions. I'm not sure how Tottenham managed to win the game without some of its important players; if Madison had been available, I think they would have scored more than one goal. Liverpool's performance has dropped, and I'm not sure how they'll defend the Premier League championship this season, however, they will host the second leg of the Carabao Cup at Anfield, and maybe they could still make it into the final.

Tottenham on the other hand got a big win last night, at least they got an advantage into the second leg, they are now 90min away from a cup final. Honestly Liverpool deserves the win, they played much better, created more chances. Tottenham first goal from Dominic solanke got ruled out to an offside but just few minutes after that he set up a good goal. Tottenham have a very big task ahead of them whey they travel to Anfield, it not going to be easy there. Let see if spurs can hold the Anfield wave and end their 17years without a trophy drought.

Since Liverpool draw with Manchester United, things haven't been the same again. That game was supposed to be an easy run for Liverpool but it already their culture to start the season with high tension and fumble towards the end of the season. The only good thing here is that there's another leg for them to make things right but it's always better to get things rightly in the first leg rather than relying on the second leg to make things right.

Are you being serious right now cause I don't understand why you think Liverpool match against Manchester United was supposed to be an easy game for Liverpool when you clearly know the rivalry between the two teams. Mind you the game against Manchester United I can proudly say that Liverpool was lucky to have gotten a draw because I had already stood up in celebration only to realize that Harry Maguire missed our last opportunity to make the scoreline 2:3.

Liverpool losing against Tottenham should not be seen as though they underestimated Tottenham for crying out loud they performed well but the goal didn't just come but now that they lost I believe they will concentrate on the English Premier League which I believe they have the opportunity to win if they keep increasing more points, I also think they have a very big chance in the champions league competition cause they are one of the best performing teams there.

Actually, this match is a chance for Tottenham to create many goals at their home, but they let go of the opportunity with a lot of wasted balls. I am sure on 2nd leg Liverpool wouldn't give them the opportunity to Tottenham hold the winning, they will revenge with many score at least 2 different goals. I don't know why Liverpool is look hard to hold the defense, Maybe because Jarell Quansah got injured that make defense becomes lame. Liverpool is look neglected when the match is coming to an end, maybe when Jarell Quansah is still on center back, Solanke won't be able to move freely to assist a ball to Bergvall.
I even felt like for some reason Liverpool was just not in their lucky day yesterday as they lost many chances,  they had some brilliant attempts that didn't end up as a goal, maybe they weren't in their best form or playing away was a challenge for them, at some point it felt to me like they didn't prioritise this game and so the weren't playing like they wanted to win but in their second leg I believe  the spurs will not be having it funny.

Liverpool will make sure not to loose or even draw at Anfield so spurs should be grateful for this win, I was hoping they were going to draw but luckily for them they won at home.

Every team is strong at home, but how can Liverpool team perform so badly being the top local team this season. Most gamblers bet on Liverpool team, where Liverpool fans are very scared of losing their gambling bets due to this impossible result.
But how can I believe that Liverpool team did not take this match as a competition because they made a total of 14 attacks in the whole match, the opposite team Tottenham team made 9 attacks. But here I see Liverpool team scared, they could not perform well in a different field.

The two big clubs that we expected to win their matches, both messed up and the opposite was the case. Liverpool had good chances of finding the back of the net but they misused them. However, Tottenham didn't had as many chances of scoring as Liverpool, but they were able to score one goal to make the difference. The second leg might not be easy as we think.

Our particular loss was just because of horrible luck, we conceded while Tsimikas was getting treated so there were effectively 10 players on the pitch.

I still expect the Hotspurs to be obliterated when they travel to Anfield next month

I even think Arsenal can turn their game around - I mean it's not unheard of them scoring 5, 6 goals in a match this season.

I knew Tottenham will have a better chance of winning if they get a better keeper since Vicario is still injured, the second leg at Anfield will be a really tough one but I hope they can fight to the end to get a win or at least a draw in order to move to the final and possibly win their first trophy after many years. I hope they won't try playing defensive football in the second because I don't expect them to be able to hold Liverpool for an entire 90 minutes in their home especially since their win tonight was just with a goal.

Sometimes in a cup match like this we can't expect more I mean there is a possibility of more surprises at the end of the match, overall Liverpool played well with some attacks and dominance it's just that luck is not on their side, yeah they still have a chance in the second leg which will be played on 7 February. I know Liverpool are eyeing several trophies this season and that will be a good record when having a new coach in the first season. I am lucky not to place a bet in this match, if I bet maybe I lost and in the second leg is the right time to place it.
The second leg at Anfield will be fierce and I hope Tottenham will not allow this win get to their head and rather focus on pressing for goals while not ignoring the needs for a solid defence against Liverpool who will be aiming to get the finals rather.

This is also similar with the second leg match meeting of Newcastle United vs Arsenal. The gunners will not make it easy for the Newcastle team to make it to the final, they have to seriously defend their 2 goals lead already, while also trying to score because Arsenal often scores a lot of goals when their attacks clicks rather than missing chances.

However, the blame should be on Slot for underestimating Tottenham ability to win. He should be aware this is competition and no team should be underestimated. No Trophy is useless and even if their priority is on winning the league or champions league, adding this to their cabinet is an achievement for the coach and the team in general.

Tottenham best team tonight and could've easily won it 3-0. Ggs.
You don’t find big teams being at their best in this sort of competition, that you know. However, being too elite teams, you would have expected more but, Liverpool is reserving that for the EPL maybe. Still, they had some good chances in this game and took some loosed shots from a distance. Like Gakpo did, I wonder what he was thinking. Been a while I saw Diaz being threatening, he had some clear chance at goal and like he usually is, missed them.

They got lucky with the Solanke close offside goal.

But Liverpool have been quite good in this Carabao tournament even though Arne slot have most be fielding most of the players that doesn't start in the first eleven usually gets a chance. If I remember correctly, I overheard one the commentators saying yesterday's game vs Tottenham was Salah and Alisson's first Carabao start this season and also VVD. So it was a strong line up overall so strong performance was expected.

Liverpool started poorly like they did against Man Utd on Sunday. Slow starts like that gives opponents more confidence. Lucky with that Solanke offside. I thought they learned until that Bergvall's goal.

What was that with the referee announcing his decision over the speakers. What do you guys think about that? Is it really cool or it’s over done and we don’t need that in football.

It was weird. I thought to myself that it was the first time I've heard in referee announcing a decision in a football game via the speakers.

Idk about others but I liked it. Weird but a welcomed development in my opinion.

Once again Arsenal had to disappoint their fans they suffered a defeat in the first leg at home against Newcastle I think Arsenal has no hope in the second leg because they will be visiting Newcastle's house the home club certainly will not let their guests beat them and of course Newcastle has a greater chance of qualifying for the semifinals by adding another 1/2 goal.

It was quite surprising to see Liverpool lose to Tottenham in the first leg even though as we know Liverpool are very strong this season and I think they will win in the 1st and 2nd legs but my prediction was wrong, even so Liverpool still have a chance to turn things around in the second leg later when playing at Anfield.
For those who know how good Newcastle have been in recent weeks I don’t think you would expect Arsenal to win, since the beginning of December Newcastle have been the best team in England. They have won even match in December, not even a draw, all wins. Well I would say I don’t expect arsenal to lose at least not 0-2 I was expecting a draw then Newcastle would beat them at St.james park. Arsenal loosing saka is a very big blow and I feel they will still lose more matches before saka is back from injury and fully fit.

Tottenham on the other hand got a big win last night, at least they got an advantage into the second leg, they are now 90min away from a cup final. For Arsenal i highly doubt they can able to bounce back on the second leg this because Newcastle in their best form and it's hard to beat them especially at their home ground so for second leg match my prediction is Newcastle will be able to win the match again and eleminate Arsenal

For other semifinal match between Tottenham vs Liverpool indeed this is a shocking result because Liverpool is the favourite but in fact Tottenham is much better than them and can win with the final score 1-0 and all Tottenham have to do in the second leg is try to get a draw at Anfield

1-0 is not safe score for Tottenham so there is still a possibility for Liverpool to win the match with a margin of more than 1 goal for second leg later and i am quite confident Liverpool will be able to do that

I don't even know what is wrong with the big teams when they are playing in the Carabao Cup, big teams don't usually take the trophy seriously like other leagues, last season Manchester City had a good performance in both the Champions League and Premier League but in Carabao Cup they find it difficult to defeat Manchester United, On Tuesday Arsenal was defeated by Newcastle at home with two goals without scoring a single goal and yesterday Liverpool was defeated by Tottenham with one goal.

The semi-final has a second leg but it will be good if a team wins a first-leg match to have the confidence to play the second leg, Liverpool still has the opportunity to defeat Tottenham in the second leg because Tottenham is just leading with one goal and goal can not make a team believe that they have won a match, Liverpool performance yesterday is so bad and if they play like this against Nottingham Forest in Premier league match they will are going to drop points.

Finally, Liverpool had to swallow a bitter pill at Tottenham home in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semifinals after going 24 matches unbeaten. This defeat leaves Liverpool facing a big challenge in the second leg, they must win by a two goal margin to qualify for the final, while Tottenham only need a draw.
Liverpool chances are greater than Arsenal, apart from the difference in goal difference, Liverpool will also act as hosts in the second leg. I really hope Liverpool and Arsenal make it to the final, it's a more exciting match than Tottenham vs Newcastle, but it all depends on the result in the second leg.
The Carabao Cup is indeed a minor trophy that might not be too important for most of the big teams that are in the race for the league championship, but for teams like arsenal, tottenham and also newcastle which this season has a very small chance of winning a more prestigious trophy, obviously the carabao trophy is has their main target as alternative trophies, besides that with the line-up of players, the majority of which are the main players played by slot against tottenham, Of course, I think if slot and liverpool also consider the carabao trophy as an important trophy for them to get this season.

The 1-0 victory over liverpool is a positive thing although it still cannot guarantee their qualification considering the second leg will be played at anfield later, I think arsenal and liverpool have a chance to turn things around in the second leg later, so we can say that no team can be confirmed to have qualified for the carabao final at this time although newcastle and tottenham won in the first leg.

I really hope Liverpool and Arsenal make it to the final, it's a more exciting match than Tottenham vs Newcastle, but it all depends on the result in the second leg.
Finally, Liverpool lost their first EFL match against Tottenham after 24 consecutive matches. Since they had to lose in the first leg of the semi-final match, the second league match will be even more challenging for Liverpool. Of course, Liverpool will have to score at least two goals against Tottenham to qualify for the final, but they will qualify for the final. However, Tottenham is much ahead here. They will win the match even if they only win one or draw and will be able to qualify for the final.
Liverpool is more likely to go than Arsenal because the next match is going to be held at Liverpool's home ground, so they are strong. However, since the next match will be a more exciting match between Liverpool and Tottenham, but here Liverpool will have their home advantage, so they have a lot of hope of winning. Moreover, there is still a big difference between Arsenal and Newcastle, and this match will be even more exciting because Arsenal lost at their home ground. Accordingly, I think Newcastle and Liverpool can qualify for the final of the EFL Cup.

No body expected Tottenham to win today against Liverpool. Tottenham always has ups and downs this season but they finally made a big win but i doubt they will able to through even with an advantage. I dont think they can pull two good matches against Liverpool. Really good game with lots of chances on both sides and a really small result. Tottenham is never closer to winning a title.
Actually, this match is a chance for Tottenham to create many goals at their home, but they let go of the opportunity with a lot of wasted balls.
