PSV had a terrible start in the European Champions League by losing to Juventus who are not the current Italian league champions, this shows how the difference between leagues is still very big. PSV are the Eredivisie champions and are currently defending their title well in the Eredivisie, but in European competitions they are weak. which means that the Eredivisie needs to be more competitive. Today I read this news

Official, confirmed. Ivan Perisić joins PSV Eindhoven as free agent.

source: https://x.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1836385152701755415

It's a good move by PSV, they are already strong in the Eredivisie and want to get stronger, that's a good thing. But they also need to be strong in European competitions, at least to get far, it doesn't have to be in the final, the Eredivisie teams haven't been able to get far in the European Champions League. Ajax was a team that created big headaches for big teams in the European Champions League, but currently Ajax is going through bad times.
Despite holding the status as champions in the Eredivisie, PSV could not do much when facing Juventus, an elite team in Serie A. Indeed, the competitive level of their respective domestic leagues made the gap very visible, and indeed it cannot be denied. We know that Juventus is actually not in its best form, but PSV failed to take advantage of this, even to hold Juventus to a draw. In terms of ball possession, PSV did look more dominant, but Thiago Motta squad played more effectively and aggressively in attack.

The signing of Ivan Perisic is quite good to add depth to the PSV squad, his experience playing with Bayern Munchen, Inter Milan and Tottenham can certainly help PSV in the future. However, Perisic can only play in domestic competitions, because player registration in the Champions League is currently closed. Meanwhile, PSV actually has a chance to qualify for the last 16, because the opponents they face are mostly of equal strength, except for PSG and Liverpool.

there is no new thread for Eredivisie. I haven't paid enough attention to this league this season, so, it's difficult to share deep insights about Feyenoord. But fact that they won just once in 4 games isn't acceptable. They conceded goals in all games that they played.
Maybe Arne Slot leaving club can be one of reasons. It's difficult to replace such manager. Something similar what happened to Ajax not so long time ago when Ten Haag left club.

Ok thanks man! good to know is not other Eredivisie thread and i was talking alone here  Grin

Yes seems like Feyenoord doesnt find the same way with this new manager and they are strugling to make the idea of this manager work in the pitch.

About Arne when i see the Liverpool of Arne i dont see any similar to his Feyenoord.
In this season, we are having Eredivisie relatively quite silent due to poor start of few top teams with things are still not getting good start like Feyenoord is having just 6 points from 4 games and Ajax is also having only 3 points from 2 games tonight they are going to play their third game against Sittard in case of win they could be jumped at the 8th spot.

PSV single-handedly leading the league table with AZ Alkmaar and Utrecht are at the second and third spots, but quality difference is widening which is the biggest problem and things are also not as par requirement for challenging top teams.

Van Persie new head coach of the Heerenveen having frustrating time with just 4 points from the 5 games, and they concede 13 goals which is also frustrating hopefully things will be taken good change for team and coach in coming games.

Ey guys why is this thread so quiet? Or is any new thread about the Eredivisie for this season?

PS: Please change the subject of the thread to season 24/25.

Well seems like we have to add other team to the disaster starters, and yes im talking about the Feyenoord, after a inexplicable draw against Groningen in the last phases of the game having a super comforable 2-0 advantage.

Now they have 3 draw in 4 games, no words.

Well yes, for sure i dont expect to see Ajax another whole season like shit like the past one, but this start is ridiculous again for a team like them. Im 100% they are gonna turn the tide and climb positions very fast, but you know if PSV or Feyenoord are like the past seasons..... you are in big trouble because every point counts and they are not gonna drop so much points alongside the tournament.

Maybe we can use some high odds in favour of Ajax  Wink

Ajax look like they are improving slowly. I watched them against Jagiellonia and they were spectacular.  Smiley  Ajax were like back with their usual effectiveness in the attacking area. Scoring many goals and dominating.

Yes but take care about that, because i remember the last year they play way better in the europa league and in the weekend for the eredivisie they went again to his normal state of being a complete disaster without north.

I dont know if they keep on that track in this year because i dont see them playing the full game but its just an advice.

It will be a game in which we will see if Ajax is really weak or not. Because Ajax will not have international games, so they will focus on playing seriously in this game. In my opinion Ajax can win

I completely missed the start of the Eredivisie this year, shame on me. Ajax should be a bit better and more stable this year than last year after the European Cup results, but they lost once against the promoted team, no words. In any case, PSV are the big favourites for me this year.

In my opinion, what is happening is that the Ajax coach has been experimenting with the players and their positions. He does not have a fixed starting eleven or has made these changes to the starting eleven by looking at the Europa League games. When Ajax played against NAC, the coach rested players because he would have a Europa League game afterwards. Note that Ajax won both Europa League games with relative ease. I dare say that if Ajax had played seriously against NAC, they could have won. Now, Ajax has only played 2 games, while PSV has already played 4 games. So, Ajax's next games will be against Utrecht, who have already played 4 games and have not lost. I see this game:

PSV is gradually replicating rhw kind of dominance we find in some other leagues back here in the eredivise, especially the ligue 1, bundesliga where PSG and Bayern Munich dominated a whole long while, currently, PSV has put up such dominance this long and for me I appreciate the fact that they are really consistent and true to the records, so far they are at the top of the season and it's looking like they are going to set a record this season where they are going to stay unbeaten and are also going to win rhw league title like Leverkusen in rhw german bundesliga last season. As for Ajax all I can say about them is they are weak and need to fix their problem of instability that is causing them the weakness.

Ajax has not found the rhythm of the game, its performance is not stable but we do not have to conclude that they will not be able to develop because they lost in the second match. The season is still young, there is still enough time to restore its best performance, especially Ajax has only played two matches and has a difference of two matches from other competing clubs including the current leader of the standings. that can be utilized. let's just enjoy the progress and see in the future, maybe Ajax will surprise.
I don't know exactly what Ajax is aiming at this season because so far their performance is just looking like they are going to possibly settle within average. They aren't at all looking like a team that is making personal efforts to go beyond the results they have gotten before now and probably aim at achieving a better height this season than last season, they have always. Been the favorite for many persons but it turns out their decline is beginning to make people not trust in their abilities again.

I want this spirit more often. I don't even what the reason behind their playing much worse has been. Have they had that bad managers meanwhile for real?  Huh  It is like the first time I see them doing nice since Erik ten Hag times.

By the way PSV are just moving on the same. They are too strong for this league.  Grin  18 goals scored and only 3 conceded? I can already feel that back-to-back title. This performance deserves it.

It is a thing of concern to see Ajax that was dominating the Netherlands Eredivisie to be so backwards for about a season or two now and it still looks like they haven't finally healed from their backwardness. Anyway seems they are being more concerned in the Europa league since they have a better performance there. PSV is gradually taking over from Ajax because their performance last season was superb and they have also started the season in same nature they did last season as they have now played 4 games and got all 12 points but as for Ajax we can't really judge them too quickly as they have only played 2 matches where they won a match and lost the other so they still have the time to prove if they have gotten back to form or not.
Utrecht is an average team in the Netherlands Eredivisie and looking at their performance currently they are really in good form but they have played 4 games, won 3 and draw in one of the games whereas Ajax just played 2 matches so Ajax will be more serious in winning Utrecht so I share same sentiment that Ajax can probably win.

Hahaha this is getting very strange, how is the huge and mighty Ajax touching this bottom? We all thing the nightmare ended the last season, but seems like they dont find the end of the hole.

Poor Ajax hardcore fans, when was the last time they were this bad?

Ajax's form has been poor for the last two seasons. Ajax finished fifth in the table last season. And in the 2022-23 season, the team was placed third in the table. And it is very unlikely that Ajax will be in the top 2 of the table this season as well.

Ajax started the season with a win but lost their second match. Ajax lost their second game against a team I was very surprised to see. Ajax lost against a team like NAC. We don't usually see this team in the eredivisie league. And this team last qualified for eredivisie probably in 2018-19 season. Ajax lost 2-1 against such a small and weak team. It's sad.

Ajax's biggest weakness last season was their defence. And I don't know if Ajax management tried to strengthen the defense this season. But I don't see any improvement in the defense. Ajax conceded 61 goals in 34 matches last season. If Ajax's defense continues to be weak this season, I don't expect this team to improve.

Yes but the main thing about this is Ajax is having very good teams with top players as always so i dont know how they are doing this bad, they canged the manager a few times and still no clue about a new begining.

Is super strange to see a huge team like this in a weak league like the Eredivisie strugle for this long.

Not in the last decade at least. They used to finish first or second until two seasons ago when they finished third and the previous disastrous season when they ended it fifth luckily..
When we look in the standings, we will see Ajax ranked 12th but in reality they still lacks two more games, one of them against Fortuna Sittard that will be played in two weeks. It was delayed because Ajax were playing in UEFA Europa League play-offs and they won and passed to the main competition. Well the game vs Fortuna will not be easy but Ajax used to win against it or at least gets a draw.
Winning the two lacking games will keep Ajax 3 points behind PSV Eindhoven which looks serious this season too.

In the first week of the Dutch league, there were no surprises. Last season's champions PSV started the league in a good way by defeating their rival Waalwijk with 5 goals in their first league match.
Another team that managed to get a different win was Groningen. It was also a good week for Groningen, who won 4-1 at home against NAC Breda.
There may not be much surprises in terms of the better teams winning their matches but by my pattern of playing this league, I was so disappointed at the outcome of some of the key matches. Normally, PSV is a high scoring side and being at home against a weak side Go Ahead Eagles, I expected them to produce at least 4 goals. Unfortunately, they were only able to produce 3 goals and that was how I lost this weekend. They won their first match with 5 goals just like you stated and I was thinking that trend would continue but they failed to deliver my expectations even though they did not concede any goal. Straight home win was not a great option for me because the odd was too small.
