Heerenveen - PSV Eindhoven
And the match ended with PSV's big win 8-0. On the other hand, Feyenoord also managed to beat Go Ahead Eagles. PSV will almost certainly lock the title. As you said, the next match against Sparta Rotterdam will determine the title lock. PSV will definitely win the Eredivise title this season. But of course it would be very nice if we could confirm the title earlier. Sparta Rotterdam is not a strong team. They are one level above Heerenveen. I think the people of Eindhoven can celebrate PSV's title next week. Grin

PSV is having a good campaign this season, even last season they did very well and finished in second place and this season they are very close to becoming champions and in these last games PSV has been a team with a very aggressive attack coming scoring lots of goals. For example, PSV's performance in the last 3 games has a scenario in which they scored a lot of goals:

Heerenveen 0 - 8 PSV Eindhoven

It was simply a very humiliating result for Heerenveen who conceded 8 goals and failed to score a single goal. It even looked like PSV were playing against a team from the relegation zone or the second division

PSV 6 - 0 Vitesse

in this game and psv scored 6 goals and didn't concede any goals and they were playing against the worst team in the league, we could think that this result was due to the fact that psv was playing against the worst team in the league, but we saw that psv can do better than that even playing against teams that are far from the relegation zone

PSV 5 - 1 AZ

Even playing against a team that is in position 4, PSV's attack was still unstoppable, reaching the point of scoring 5 goals against a top 4 team.

The next game will be against an opponent who lost in just 1 game in the last 5 games:

A victory in the PSV game becomes champion. I wonder:

how many goals will PSV score?  Grin

Ajax 2 - 2 Excelsior
~

Ajax with another draw and a rather contemplative performance, now they have to be careful not to slip down to sixth place.

The first three places have already been decided and there will be no more changes, and it looks like Ajax won't be able to catch up on fourth place either.

unfortunately Ajax will have to accept the fact that they are left out of the top 4. I hope that next season they improve, because the last 2 seasons were a huge disaster

I want to make some conclussions about Ajax season but is a nonsense, the only good thing for them right now is when the season over, and close this bad episode of his history and start to look ahead and write new pages in a new book.

Because nothing can be saved from this season , all was bad.

The only good thing for them right now is the last 3 games are against 3 weak teams so they can seal this 5 position without so much issues.

Ajax lost the chance to catch up with AZ Alkmaar in the remaining weeks. In this match, Bergwijn's red card, which left his team 10 men in the early minutes, prevented Ajax from getting a possible win here. With Akpom's goal in the last minutes, Ajax at least managed to draw at home and increased their points to 49.It is important for Excelsior to get points in such matches to stay in the league. There is a 1 point difference between them and their rival and the team in 16th place will play out.

Just 1 point and Alkmaar will lock fourth place. I think Ajax has no chance of playing in the European league next season. It would be impossible if you said Alkmaar would lose all their games going forward and Ajax would miraculously win all of them. I think Ajax has tried to do its best. They had a lot of bad results at the start of the season but in the middle of the season they managed to improve their performance and were able to catch up to 5th place in the standings. If they continue to be consistent after the middle of the season I think it is not impossible for Ajax to qualify for the Champions League.
With 3 games left, of course it is difficult for Ajax to be able to eliminate Alkmaar from the position of the Europa League zone next season, currently the two teams are 9 points apart so Alkmaar only needs one game with a draw to make Ajax's chances of playing in the Europa League next season buried, Ajax's performance this season is of course quite bad after last season they could compete in the Europa League zone,  The number of players who left last season made Ajax currently really unable to compete and even quite surprising if this season actually had to get out of the top 4 rankings.

Ajax this season is late for hot so they did find it difficult to improve their position when the season is almost over and I think Ajax's habit of continuing to sell their mainstay players so far is the cause of their slump, I think it is very difficult to see Alkmaar will slip up in their remaining three games of the season let alone we can see if only FC Twente is their most difficult opponent later,  while Fc Ultrecht and Go Ahead Eagles may not be difficult opponents for Alkmaar to get 3 points or at least 1 point in that the match.

Ajax 2 - 2 Excelsior

I confess that I expected Ajax to be able to come out of this game with a victory, because their opponent is Excelsior. In the last 5 games they didn't do well, they had a sequence of 3 defeats, but then they had a victory, but despite having a victory, I wasn't convinced that they could beat Ajax who in the last 5 games had an acceptable performance. When Ajax scored a goal, I immediately thought I was sure that Ajax would win the game. I didn't watch the game, I was just following the results, but I was surprised to see the red card for the Ajax player, as I wasn't watching the game so it was difficult to understand the reasons that led the Ajax player to commit such a serious foul that led the referee to give a red card.

but now I could see the highlights of the game:

What the Ajax player did was very unnecessary, he could very well have limited himself to running after the ball and let another Ajax player along with the Ajax goalkeeper go and stop the Excelsio player, at least that way he wouldn't have had the penalty that really hurt Ajax who were unable to come out of this game with victory, now the risk of Ajax not playing in any European competition next season is very high, because there are only 3 games left until the end of the league in the case of Ajax

Heerenveen - PSV Eindhoven

This is a game in which if PSV wins and Feyenoord loses in the game they will play against Go Ahead Eagles, then PSV will become champions. but if both top teams win then if PSV wins in the next game they will become champions, regardless of the result of Feyenoord's next game. It has been a good campaign that PSV has been having in recent years, they were in position 2 in 3 consecutive seasons if memory serves me correctly, and this season today or in the next game they could become champions. For this game, they will be playing against an opponent who in the last 5 games only beat in 1 game. they had 2 draws and 2 defeats, which is why in my opinion PSV would win that game

I remember there were some users who said Ajax would return to their best and would overtake AZ Alkmaar or Twente for a place in the international league. But with 4 games left and 7 points difference from Alkmaar I think Ajax will only play in the domestic league next season. I applaud their struggle to get through the relegation zone and be able to climb into the top five at the end of the season. This is something to be appreciated but I don't think they can create a fairytale story by breaking into second or third at the end of the season. I think Ajax is like Lyon in Ligue 1 this season.

Their decline in performance raises many questions, I mean how can a team as big as Ajax have such a sharp decline. Compare this with Barcelona or Borussia Dortmund, which experienced a decline in performance in the last few seasons, they're not as bad as Ajax. Ajax current condition is the same as Chelsea, they have experienced a decline in performance for 2 seasons and are no longer a team to be feared in the PL.

IMO, it's not Ajax that should be appreciated, but rather AZ Alkmaar & Twente who give a new color to the Eredivisie, BTW aren't you surprised to see Vitesse at the bottom of the Eredivisie standings?

And here we go, another poor game made by Ajax rescuing a point in the lasts minutes and only because Excelsior is a little team who plays defensive because they have fear. And again and coming back to my last post, they allowed 2 goals! incredible, i dont know how they can defend so bad. They need to rebuild a whole new team for next season.

I was checking some statistics about Ajax, basic ones, like the goals scored/allowed, they have in this moment a +7, but the super bad number comes from the allowed goals.

They allowed 56 GOALS!!! So nearby to two goals per game, and if you compared this number with other teams of the league ALMERE City has less goals alowed than Ajax, or even Waaljik who is fighting for relegation.
They conceded too much when away, 37 goals from 15 away games.
And only Excelsior 40 goals and Vitesse 42 goals can beat that record hehe, even Waalwijk only conceded 28 goals.
Ajax will have to replace all its players for next season, there is no hope with the current players.

After having the worst start of the season as they have done comeback there were huge expectations we will have strong comeback from them, but sadly they fail to keep things on good level, and we have huge decline into their performance which bring another setback and now chances are not good for them to have spot into top four which is going to be disappointing for the clubs like Ajax which is having elite history and record in Eredivisie and UEFA as well.

But, now as they are giving performance there are doubts about their comeback into next season are also not clear because things are not as they needed, and we have huge difference of quality between top two and them but surely now if they are going to have some good changes at the end of the season we can hope for them to have good challenging competition between them and Twente and AZ Alkmaar which are also having same level of quality in this league.

Probably most of you already know that Dutch football federation took away 18 points from Vitesse:
https://nltimes.nl/2024/04/19/dutch-football-strips-vitesse-18-points-slowing-russia-sanctions-investigation
They had collected only 17 points during whole season, so, now they have -1 and already confirmed relegation from Eredivisie after 36 years. Not arguing about decision, but I hate when such decisions is made in the heat of season. Same like in EPL when pointsis taken away from clubs constantly and then returned. IMO, such decisions should be made before the season because now it's just doesn't makes sense - you play whole season and don't know where you will end because of sanctions.
No Eredivisie this weekend as it's dedicated for KNVB cup final between Feyenoord and NEC.

The saddest part of these punishments is that they are hardly punishments that affect the top teams, and even when there are rare cases that affect the top teams, the points that are deducted are very few and the top teams take the case to court and with that they gain more time because the courts take time to decide. So in my opinion these punishments only affect weak teams and not top teams. When there are serious cases involving top teams, it always takes time to punish the top teams and the punishment is always light taking into account the seriousness of the infraction that the big team commits.

congratulations to feyenoord

Even though they played with 10 players since the 72nd minute, Feyenoord still managed to win the game, this shows how Feyenoord's difference in quality is much higher than that of NEC. If PSV wins in the next 2 league games, then they will be champions, but at least Feyenoord managed to win something this season. They may not be able to win the league, but they won the KNVB cup

Sorry but it seems looking at the current points and remaining games I don't think there will be any changes to the leaderboard until the end of the season. With 4 matches remaining I think it is almost impossible to change the standings, except for AZ Alkmaar and AJax. PSV and Feyenoord have secured tickets to the UCL next season because their points are no longer possible for other teams to catch up with. Twente is 5 points ahead of AZ Alkmaar. They will face AZ Alkmaar in May. Their other three matches will be against relatively weak teams. AZ Alkmaar is 7 points ahead of Ajax. This means that if Ajax is able to win all the remaining matches then they will collect 60 points. AZ Alkmaar only needs 2 wins to secure their position from Ajax. But they have tough games left as they have to play against NEC, Twente, Go Ahead Eagles and Fc Utrecht. And Ajax have an easier match than Alkmaar. I hope that at least Ajax can qualify for the UEL next season.
Well football they say isn’t always over till probably after the final whistle. This is one of the fun facts about football that keeps us glued to our screen each time we watch a game of football. In the match in the Eredivisie League, we saw some beautiful comebacks between Ajax and Twente.

Twente took the lead quite early and the lead lasted a while and you’ll think that the game’s pretty over but surprisingly Ajax were able to turn things around and get maximum points. This competition makes a league get interesting and get fans want to know what’s happening in the league. The league is rounding up and we’re having about 5 matches to go and every team trying to make sure they secure their qualification spot.

PSV are league winners already while Feynoord runners up and as such those 2 will be representing the league in the UCL. The likes of Twente will still need to be consistent to battle it out with AZ Alkmaar especially in the game between themselves and as such this gives Ajax and advantage that if they remain consistent then they can probably sneaky into  an European qualification spot.

Yeah unexpected recovery seen yesterday in the Ajax Twente game, i was not expecting that at all, more after Twente take the lead of the match. Anyways is good not only for Ajax but also for Eredivisie to still has some fun fight to watch in the leaderboard plus the netherlands needs strong teams of them to represent the country in the europen competitions.

No doubt win against Twente is positive for them and Eredivisie, but now it's time for them to think about their future because they need to be done some good presence in Europa Conference League which will give good booster to Eredivisie and them as well with I am not having any positive point about AZ Alkmaar and Twente with their strength and quality which is not near big teams so we have again only three teams which can compete and bring better results.

Hopefully now they will do some better work and having better strategy which will bring improved quality and performance for the Eredivisie and Conference league as well because we have few big teams which already won this cup and jump into better for next season.

PSV and Ajax have normally always scored the big points in the Eredivisie's five-year ranking in recent years, but Feyenoord has been added as a third candidate and Twente and AZ are now also good for small surprises at European level.

The Eredivisie will be in fifth place for two more years, after which a very good season with 19200 points will be dropped, by which time at least all three teams will have to be in the final eight to four.

Ajax won against Twente, but they must now endeavour to maintain 5th place otherwise international participation could be in danger. Ajax are just lucky this season that they are currently safely in 6th place in the 5-year ranking and a rather weak year < 10,000 points falls out of their favour. But the Eredivisie should not afford another weak international season.
