I get an unusually high hit rate with Virus Total for the v2.0 client - 4 detects.

One or two is not unusual but four?

Just so you know, someone coughed up a large donation to the bounty for the RPC Android Wallet! The bounty has gone from 9 RPC to 29 RPC!

I couldn't push RPC any harder on cryptsy than I already do ..
10 hours a day at least im trading and in the chat of course always pushing RPC ...
i have been a part of all 3 major pumps since the fix ...
and I will be in the chat n trading on the next 20 pushes upward ...
the growing support is getting bigger everyday.
there is a lot of love for RPC on cryptsy atm.

a push onto mintpal would be a huge help ...
why not start a thread ...

Mintpal appears to be a more reliable exchange. It would be good if they added RPC there. Let's vote to make it happen.

Some websites have a built-in Java app that does client-side hashes while visitors are on the page.

As someone who gets far too many e-mails every day, I'd love to see the hashcash concept that spawned bitcoin come full circle.  Want to push something into my inbox (basically, an involuntary to-do list)?  That'll cost you 0.1 RPC worth of hashing.  Back in the day, if you wanted a piece of someone's time, you had to go find them.  That expenditure of effort alone weeded out a number of requests.  Instead of sneaker-netting over to someone's office/cubicle, why not a little batch of hashes as the stamp on the digital letter.  Priority?  0.5 RPC gets you the priority inbox.

Just an idea.

Good luck with the future Colin. Thanks for starting and maintaining RPC for as long as you did. Hopefully you'll be back soon.

Hope this coin can be forked to another algo. Maybe X11, Groestl or another more gpu friend mining algo.

Definitely, family first!  I too have had my share of go-arounds with the wife about online community vs. family time.  Go do the right thing, and come back to us in whatever capacity you're able.  Only a jackalope would begrudge you that decision.

Many thanks to ColinIsTheMan for bootstrapping this concept and making it work.  I hope what we are seeing here at last is the true launch of the coin now that we have overcome the plunder-and-dumpers.  Having been online since modem & BBS days, the glory of the internet comes from people contributing their genius to the community, and Colin is worthy of our thanks.

Why don't we give him a send-off gift?  A little coin in his pocket to assuage the missus in recognition of the sacrifices he made to get this coin working?  Here's his wallets:

Give ColinIsTheMan a Thank-You!
RonPaulCoin: RVoNR4t7oA1cC5AnhU1M1LybEiHqeguazm
Bitcoin: 1AkA8YSPPc85rwVwkCDWGo4gGa86DzCnh7

Can we get him 200 RPC as a thank-you gift?  I'm sending 25 to start the ball rolling.

I know a bunch of us are here because we appreciate the principles of Ron Paul.  We do need lead developers -- folks who can official speak on behalf of the coin.  But subsidiarity is also vital.  Not all leadership can come from the head.  Are people interesting in stepping up and taking charge of various aspects of promoting the coin?

As a university prof, my time is spoken-for until June (it's gonna get crazy with finals soon), but I would be interested in exploring a link to a precious metals vendor.

I'm happy to chip in to some media-savvy efforts at promoting the coin, but I don't have great skills at video making or graphic design.  With the fork done, and values up, and new exchanges listing us (6th most valuable coin on Cryptsy right now...), it would be a great time to rep the coin.

What do you all think?

Jski

Family First.
Totally understandable Colin (had quite a few dust-ups with my missus over pc use, among other endeavors  Tongue )

You'll still be posting here and on the forums when you get time tho? Right?
You're stepping aside as dev but your opinion is still obviously needed.

I'm glad RonPaulCoin is doing better finally, at least price-wise and volume-wise it appears to be. I hope it stays that way and isn't overly molested by "whale mining multipools".

RonPaulCoin may not be perfect, but I think the latest fork was at least an improvement from what we had previously (as others have also mentioned). I guess no coin is totally perfect but our goal is to do our best to make them so.

I unfortunately must withdraw my role as the lead "developer" of the coin (I simply modified some source code to begin with so I don't know if that classifies me as a full-on developer. Tranz is far more deserving of that title than I am). I wanted to be upfront and let everyone know this.

Thank you for your support this entire time. I really appreciate it and it's been a lot of fun.

Because a reason will probably help explain the reason for this: Basically my overly extensive time on the computer has caused me some marital issues and I have to make some changes in my life or I am going to lose my marriage. I hope you can understand.

Fortunately, I feel this is a stable point to leave off from and I'm glad I didn't leave when RPC was in a ditch (like after the previous fork's attempted but failed fix).

The RonPaulCoin source code is up at www.github.com/ronpaulcoin/ronpaulcoin and can be forked if future circumstances require a modification and the group agrees it is best. I'm sure majority can agree upon the changes for a new version if one is needed, and adopt a new leader as well.

My personal pick for successor and recommendation would be Tranz for several reasons. Also I might note that he may very well not want this appointment and that is his choice completely, and must be respected. But Tranz has been with RPC from the beginning, has helped code the last 2 forks, and knows the intimate workings of the RPC code better than anyone I know, including myself. He is also a good-natured guy and has the best intentions on his mind from what I have seen. He takes a high level of care to fully test things and doesn't do anything sloppy. Anyway, that is why he is my recommendation. Over to you guys.

However, I would personally suggest leaving RonPaulCoin as it is for a minimum of 3-6 months and just let it settle out and see how it does. RPC has already undergone too many changes in the 5 months that it has been in existence in my opinion. Minimal change is an important quality too and one that I have always tried to maintain.

ctenc001 has the website ftp login and he can update www.ronpaulcoin.com if he wishes.
onaboat has twitter access he can update the twitter page if he wishes.

Thank you. My sincerest thank you to you all.

Hence the problem with averages. Would changing the 270 block weighted average to 10 deal with this.

I was looking around for solutions and saw this at Hotcoin.

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.6519831

Queue mining. Translating chinese english to english, no miner can get more than 1 block for every 60 block.

I don't know if any other coins tried this but i will keep an eye on this and see if it works. It could be a solution to multipool mining and could be an end to pool mining.

Need to assess the cons and pros. At this moment in time it is curiously interesting.
