What do you mean, did RPC fork?

Isn't anyone mining it right now?  What's the status?

To my knowledge there is not a fork. There is only 1 official client (ronpaulcoin.com). Any other client is a scam, fake client and/or a fork attempt. Never heard of a "Cheetah" wallet version. Un-official.

You can see the Network Hashrate graph and Difficulty graphs here (scroll down):

http://www.coinwarz.com/cryptocurrency/coins/ronpaulcoin

The RonPaulCoin Network has been alive since day 1. The network has been active this entire time.

I was able to connect to the RPC network using Doug's list of nodes above. Thanks, Doug.

Here is the short list of nodes:

91.121.143.174:9027
162.243.118.225:9027
54.201.183.106:9027
46.4.205.161:9027
67.210.249.29:9027
85.25.194.85:9027
148.100.32.54:9027
188.226.239.21:9027

Go to console and type:

addnode [one ip address from above] add

do this for each ip address and you will connect.

Thanks for posting that, though I'm still not having any luck so far. I just built a new system and here's what I've done so far...

Downloaded the RPC from the website (version 0.8.6.2) and extracted the files into a "RonPaulCoin" folder inside the app data/roaming folder.
Inside that folder I also made a text file called "ronpaulcoin.conf" that looks like this:

rpcuser=rpcuser
rpcpassword=123
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
rpcport=9026
port=9027
daemon=1
server=1
listen=1
gen=0
addnode=108.61.83.36:9027
addnode=84.28.132.1011
addnode=71.94.45.245:56112
addnode=93.185.192.72:61404
addnode=84.28.132.101:50649
addnode=84.28.132.101:56580
addnode=84.28.132.101:58050
addnode=93.185.192.72:1099
addnode=93.185.192.72:26125
addnode=24.7.226.120:49259
addnode=68.84.252.138:58386
addnode=24.7.226.120:57973

Yet, still no luck. I might as well try Cheetah's version and see if that works. Any idea? Did I goof somewhere making the .conf file?
Thanks again

Well, your config file looks fine. I've never tried running a wallet from inside a folder within the coins data folder. You mean like:

C:\Users\YourUser\AppData\Roaming\RonPaulCoin\Wallet\

Could be an issue - but I don't see why it would.

Edit - just tried installing to my laptop (in the way I usually do my installs), and it doesn't sync... will have to check on this, and see if I can figure it out... arrghh.

Please post your .conf text/file so that I and others can get our wallets working, instead of ignoring this post : )

Colin is right, insulting anyone won't help.

I might be interested in trying out for this head dev position 'after' I can my wallet working (again) so that I'm able to pay out bounties for various things.

My wallet is syncing - here are the nodes I have:

Code:

What a volatile coin.  I bought a little RPC around 5,000 sats [which I thought was an absolute steal] and a week later the price is up 4 fold near 20,000 sats.

The most amazing thing is that it popped that hard on no new demand.  This thing can go up 100+ fold on just a demand sneeze.

It would be nice if the dev came back and manned up - after-all, you did use Ron Paul's name and now you're making him look like shit with this penny coin, having dropped over 99%.

Please read my last posts before you insult me.

Anybody?  Isn't this an active community?

Someone must know what's going on and if there's still an active dev.

Much appreciated!

I'm guessing from a few posts ago, there is no active Dev. Another alt descending into obscurity.

Why has the price collapsed for RonPaulCoin?

Is the dev still active or what's going on?

Thanks!

Hey guys,

As stated in my last message on this forum thread, I didn't have the time to maintain this coin any longer. Due to personal issues I had to make life choices between where I choose to spend my time as my marriage was at stake. Luckily it has stabilized somewhat now, but I cannot get back into RonPaulCoin full swing. Thank you for your original and continued understanding in this.

That all being said, I want to see RonPaulCoin thrive in another developer's hands.

I want to pass this coin onto someone who is willing to take the necessary steps to make the necessary changes to see it surviving into the future. If that requires a proof of work algorithm change, then so be it.

Kindly contact me if this interests you.

Sincerely,
me

P.S. The original helper, Tranz, has not offerred to take up that position and I respect his position on it. It was his choice to donate his time and help in the beginning.

Are you looking for a stable RonPaulCoin pool with consistent returns? Look no further than chunkypools! We're proud to be long time supporters of RPC, we hope you'll give us a try. Happy mining!

"This is a form of money, and money becomes valuable by its use as a form of trade in society, it also becomes valuable based on societies ability to hoard the money. When money velocity becomes too high the value of the money reduces and goods and services need more money to buy them. So effectively by me hoarding the coins for the future is making the remaining coins in circulation more valuable."

-This assumes fiat currency with no available alternatives.  If RonPaulCoin rises in price, people will have many alternative currencies to choose from, many of which function better and are more widely accepted by vendors, so those people simply won't buy RonPaulCoins.  Also, price is not the same thing as value.

"The Ron Paul coin has far fewer coins than the Litecoin, there is no reason why the price of the RPC should be less than the Litecoin."

-I can do even better.  I'm going to start my own cryptocurrency on a cardboard ledger, and only release one coin.  I'll hoard the coin for ten years, and then naturally I'll sell it for billions because it is so rare.  Why do people trash this free market thing when it's so easy to get rich?

If you start your own cardboard coin and only have 1 coin, their would be zero circulation hence the coin would naturally fail as you mentioned.

The difference between you issuing a coin and the RPC is that Ron Paul has been an advocate for free market currencies and alternatives to the USD for many decades now, hence a coin named after him represents exactly what a free currency should be. Yes there are other cyptocurrencies on the marketplace to choose from. However alot will collapse due to oversupply and some due to undersupply. The Ron Paul coin has a balance that it has a reasonable supply which is 1/10 of the Bitcoin. It also has a basis of being Named after the champion of free market currencies, hence marketing wise it has an advantage over all the other coins. If only Ron Paul was to back this coin himself this coin would explode in price. The same cant be said of a coin cut out of cardboard as you have mentioned.

These coins require work to come into existence, a combination for computer power and time, its the same reason and function that gives gold a value because it takes work to come into existence. Fiat currencies do not require work to come into existence (They come into existence by debt). So if your coin you have mentioned required some work to be done to come into existence and had a basis of integrity at the core it would have some value, if not you will just hold onto the worthless cardboard ledger.
