RonPaulCoin (RPC) Is…
  • scrypt-based (off the latest 0.8.6.1 litecoin source code) and ASIC-resistant.

That is just stupid. Instead of improving diff adjustment calculation so that it reacts fast on possible massive hashrate added
or removed from network and instead of targeting the largest hardware mining base which is SHA256 ASICs, you "developers"
are lazy and fall for "ASICs are bad" craps, inevitably making your altcoin target small and already saturated hardware mining
base which is CPUs or GPUs. You are making your new altcoin "secured" by what, 100 GPUs? A thousand? How many miners
is that, few dozens at best? On the other hand, there are possibly millions of miners who are using easy-to-setup SHA256
ASICs ranging from single USB device to big farms. Targeting that particular miner base insures better spread of the coins,
compatibility with the latest and quickly envolving tech and opens the possibility to secure the network to extreme through
merge-mining with Bitcoin.

Get serious.

Thanks but 9026 isn't working for me. I tried 8332 and that seems to be working. I'm detecting blocks but haven't accepted any yet.

9026 is the default.

$ ./ronpaulcoind --help | grep port=
-port=           Listen for connections on (default: 9027 or testnet: 19027)
-rpcport=        Listen for JSON-RPC connections on (default: 9026 or testnet: 19026)

OP, when are you going to release windows client for this coin?

It's in the OP.

Can anyone recommend an rpcport?

tip for anyone else building from source, the leveldb/Makefile seems to be missing from git repo.  I had to copy it over from Litecoin.

Also on linux, you may need to run chmod +x leveldb/build_detect_platform

ooohhhh premining sounds fun!! I have the wallet-qt downloaded, how do I proceed?
Run it on two PC's, let's say they have 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.0.2.
Then on first PC open debug windows and type addnode 192.168.0.2 onetry.
Now you can (pre)mine this coin! If your chain will be the longest when network start, you'll be the winner.

Well, this coin is formally launched. Now anyone can set up two daemons and premine it as hell.
