50% Ethereum, 50% Waves I think this is the most logical choice because this two coin are really high quality and will be valued in the future
Both are a very good coin for the long term and both coin concept is also very good I have both the coin in my portfolio and I am holding them for the long term. If you want to divide your portfolio it's better to buy 1.5 ETH worth of Waves and Hold 1.5 ETH like this you will have both of them and you can hold them both for the long term.
When u compare Eth with Waves, ETH is far away better but for investment I think Waves is better choice because of low price Waves is strong coin will go up very soon.
Base on my experience waves can be better compared to ETH because waves has a high network speed with hundreds of transaction and has a small commision compared to ETH.
Both have their own advantages. Hope Waves will close Ethereum's advantages soon ith smart contract and others.

I would prefer Ethereum over waves because majority of the ICOs are smart contract based and it is the 2nd biggest cryptocurrency coin in terms of marketcap. And most of successful ICOs are Ethereum based platform.
For me ethereum because this is the best second coin after bitcoin. I started in trading when ethereum is low price with 250$ then now look ethereum reach 1000$ at the end of 2017. So i will prefer ethereum for my investment pairs to my token.

In my opinion split you ether into two parts. The 1.5 Ether, hold as long you can because the possibility to increase the value of its this first quarter of the month is huge even it is experienced big fluctuation of value. Then the other half of your ether invest into wave because wave now has a big potential in the market cap. Also wave is now is going strong and the chance to earn big profit on it is good.
I always prefer ethereum compared to waves because it's more developed and the userbase is way bigger than waves. Waves is not doing bad either as they keep promoting their platform but it seems like people still like ethereum for now.

It is exactly the truth,ETH is far better than Waves when it comes to user interface and the platform but the best form of investment is to invest in coins which have lower valuation,ETH has grown a lot in terms of price but that is not the case with Waves,it still have the potential to grow bigger and as an investor i would go with a coin with lower valuation with potential.

If I'm not mistaken, you have a lot of money right now? How long did you hold you 3 eth? If you are holding 3eth now then just stop buying waves it is better to buy other coins that would you feel it has a potential to increase the price. I have also account on waves and have a balance from there but I'm not holding a big amount of waves. Unlike ethereum it carries big surprises when the price increases.
I think it is better to hold ethereum than trying to buy some waves. Because ethereum has a bigger community, development support, and there are already a lot of other coins works on ethereum blockchain. So I prefer Ether and hope it will more profitable then waves.

Both has good and solid platform but waves arent that matured like ethereum,ethereum platofrm is one of a kind which smart contracts has started its main purpose is to easily apply blockchain technology thru its platform which gives people freedom to use the technology for free. 
Since July 2017 WAVES fell more than twice (in comparison to BTC). I think that it is a very long time for crypto market, because during this period ETH increased several times and the project began to develop more rapidly. That is why I prefer ETH.
Etherium is at at the moment superior than any other coins. Waves has a potential to be much better than ETH in near future. But Waves has a weak spot is that it doesn't have smart contracts yet. In my opinion, investing in more reliable coins like Etherium will be a safer investment.

My opinion if you like to by something but not sure that is better for holding, buy 50% and 50% for holding.
Eth is the best altcoin for me 
If I had to choose only one option, I would prefer Eth, because its blockchain is the base for almost all the projects that go for ICO every day, and there are plenty of them. But in your current situation I would split the money equally and hold both coins.
there is a long way to classificate waves with eth. I am the believer of waves by the way but in long term investment. Eth shows the power of itselves if i were you %30 waves %70 eth
