Every altcoin comes to say they are the new bitcoin, but after all those years Bitcoin is still the number 1 and I think it will be number 1 for a very long times. Bitcoin is still in Beta and could just be better and better.

BTC > etc
Ethereum has a long way to go before it threatens btc. At the current rate of development it could be years and years. The only thing making eth popular right now is day-trading and bagholders.

Agreed, ethereum still has to prove itself. Bitcoin is considered by most as just starting even with 6 years of use behind it

I fail to feel the hype here.  Only thing Ethereum has is some illegal gambling dapp and I don't see it as good enough competition to Bitcoin's gambling or even internet gambling.

Internet gambling would never go into crypto as that is already $40+ billion industry and many sites will give out free money to lure people in.  Nobody has money to give, not on the same scale, in crypto.  Crypto also adds in a lot of unnecessary complication.  Heck the Ethereum wallet is a lot of unnecessary complication - you couldn't even launch with a GUI!

Ethereum is also open source so if a big corporation adopted Ethereum then they wouldn't buy Ether but would make a clone for a low cost.

This is why the whole "platform thesis" in the 2.0 coins is a bunch of crap.  I would be focusing on making good currency.

FYI - Ethers are as different from bitcoins as oil is from gold.  Ethereum platform is as different from the bitcoin platform as banking is from law.   OP is stupid.

But.  If bitcoin doesn't get it's political & scaling shit together it will eventually be overtaken.

"Bitcoin is supreme because it's been around for six years.  Your shitcoin will never replace it - bitcoin is better."

"Why is it better?"

"Because it will always be the leader since it's always been the leader."

Bitcoin maximalists as a general rule give arguements that're as sound as the OP.

Yup agreed, i even might consider Ethereum to be the second Bitcoin however, but iam not sure Etherum will going to change bitcoin,
beacause basically bitcoin is a leader and etherum still cute baby born, they are totally different

ETH will be cloned soon. They have no more funds. How could ethereum ever succeed? Ethereum doesn't have that same decentralized open source project spirit to it that BTC has. It's all on the original developers who will leave soon. Vitalik has already said he is leaving ETH if the price doesn't go up constantly.

What will ETH do if someone runs a new crowd fund to fork ethereum without the original premine? What if they raise $18,000,000 and make an ETH clone that is way better. ETH holders are dead and the new blockchain wins.

can you link us to where Vitalik said he's leaving ETH if it doesnt go up constantly?

Isnt ETH main purpose to pay for only dapps on etherume network, rather than for "regular" internet shopping?

btc crashing over time that means bitcoin is not future ... but during crashing Btc what happened to ethereum price ?

I think , crypto is not future and if it want to be future Btc is a serious Option .

Agreed with you if Btc has no future than crypto world has no more future because none has adoption and acceptance like this. Smiley

Why for many it must be "bitcoin rulez forever" or "bitcoin sukz and will be replaced by xxxcoin!".

Whats wrong with having few coins in the normal use? Bitcoin has some advantages, which make it good for what it does. Other coins, like ETH, SIA or whatever, have different advantages, thus, different use cases.

will believe it when we SEE it.

Everything I see about ETH inspires more confidence than Litecoin/Dogecoin/Ripple.
Perhaps both BTC and ETH can thrive together. I'm counting on it. 50/50

ETH will allow $2T of underground economy to become more structured (and possibly less underground) through DAOs.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/wonkblog/wp/2013/04/23/americas-2-trillion-shadow-economy-is-the-recessions-big-winner/

If it captures 1% of that $2T, it is equivalent to $20B, which would put ETH somewhere around $150. Those who sell for $2 will shit bricks, eat sand and may even commit suicide in the years to come. If it captures 10% of that ETH will be $1500. I know it sounds crazy, but so did the Internet in 1995.

Once it's launched their main focus will be on scalability, which I think is the real reason crypto is not ready for mainstream. Once they can handle 100K TPS (and I'm sure they will), it's game over.

If etherum ever becomes #1 crypto i will probably quit crypto altogether. Etheruem is just as bad as banks in my books.

Why are you being so negative?  Is it because you don't hold any ether?

The XCP "recreates Ethereum" Pump pretty much exposed the creaky Bitcoin ecosystem...
It would be hard to better explain the Order of Magnitude advance ETH is building than this post:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/2m30j6/counterparty_recreates_ethereum_on_bitcoin/cm0o1rf

People who hide their head in the sand have no idea the amount of Dev talent working on ETH...
It's only Devs and traders and there is a cap on usage... but tx have doubled to 4,000/day in 2 weeks.

Bitcoin is still the future.
At the moment, no coin even Ethereum is able to topple Bitcoin spot at the top.
