Now there is a thermal throttle that will kick in if you reach a specified temperature, in a per GPU basis. (Fan set to max, core set to 800).

Mining new currency which still have lots of blockes remained is alsways profitable. ETH is one of it. But Ethereum runs on x-11 scrypt. And basically it needs GPU power. There are really great tools now a days to start mining with cloud or with hardware.

just bought it , once i figure it out it might be awesome but to say it's ready to go out of box is very miss leading if it was there would be some kind of pop up asking me to input my pool info but i figured that,  instead you have edit files find out were they all are so it's not that easy to set up which is fine i will have it down in a hour or so, it's for my 2 card open frame rig soon to be 6 it is better then win 7 or 10, everything is there it is all in one that's true but to say boot up and mine there is a lot more to it then that or it's ready out the box it's not, it takes a little learning which i like.

how do i get my free ssd i did not want to wait so I bought the download and either should get the ssd or some kind discount for buying the download...

got it hashing on DwarfPool seems the work package is needed and not in the image  but it's hashing now .

show miner  showed me just what was going on

Hi,

I have just created a SSD with ethos 1.0.4 on it.
I can boot and change the wallet en pool.
But I can't ssh the system.
"ssh_exchange_identification: read: Connection reset by peer"

How to fix this?

regards,
Enrico
It seems you have a connection problem. Can you ping the miner? Does it mine at all?

Yes it mine!
Yes I can ping it.

Does this OS work out of the box with my old motherboard ASUS P5GC-MX 1333?
It's a sata ssd it should work with any mobo that has sata, I wouldn't be concerned about that.

I don't mean the SSD, but the OS per se, because I would have to pay A LOT with import fees, so I am interested in purchasing just the OS instead. The OS should be cheaper, by the way, because it doesn't make sense to cost the same - for U.S custormers, GpuShack offers free shipping.

I'm also wondering if it's worth buying it, because I only have one R9 280x, although the target market is the farm miners. Why?

It's should be cheaper downing loading it with out the hard ware it's not thu according to the what i saw on the GpuShack site . sense I'll have to pay the same price for the down load with or without hardware which btw made no sense charge less if it's with out the hard ware . i hope they give a down load link when i  buy it with the SSD which i don't need and i live in the US and don't want to wait a week for it to try the OS
but will take the free SSD but greed you know .. US way

Agreed.

Why not run GenEthos? My MB is about 5 years old and it works fine with GenEthos.

I downloaded this OS. I'm now trying it in a virtual machine (Virtual Machine Manager). I wish I didn't need it, because I was quite happy with my OS already (Trisquel Linux), but that's ok.

EDIT: I tried it through virtual machine manager, but it's stuck in a console even after following the commands "sudo ./system-update.sh", with username work and password ethereum. I tried to execute the command "startx", but it's stuck as well.

I don't mean the SSD, but the OS per se, because I would have to pay A LOT with import fees, so I am interested in purchasing just the OS instead. The OS shoulda be cheaper than the very same OS with SSD, obviously - U.S custormers, GpuShack offers free shipping.

I'm also wondering if it's worth buying it, because I only have one R9 280x, although the target market is the farm miners. Why?
Well the OS is built on ubuntu so if you get ubuntu to work you should be fine but before you pay a lot try this out it is very similar and free.

https://ethereum-mining.info/en/

I'm actually using Trisquel Linux, which is Ubuntu-based, so I guess it will work with no problem at all. It's because s/he said earlier that "ethOS is confirmed to work out of the box with any motherboard made 2011 and after (and probably many more motherboards". My MOBO is from 2007. Thanks for the link, btw. Can you assure me there is no malware inside this OS? Now I got one more doubt: what is the point of purchasing ethOS while you can have GenEthOS for free? Don't get me wrong, OP.  It's not a rhetorical question.

I purchased a copy of ethOS and its a 16gb image on my Mac hard drive.

I have a spare 120Gb SSD. I have a spare rig for testing too. So ready to rock and roll.

How do you start getting the image into a bootable OS on the SSD?

Any step by step guide for me? All my rigs are on Win8.1...

thanks!

You just buy another copy with the digital download option.
Instructions; http://ethosdistro.com/kb/

or just copy the SSD image to the other drive?  (unless you believe 1 purchase=1 license)

1 Purchase = 1 License for one rig.

Can you explain why I should replace my existing hard drive for mining, hence rendering my computer useless for normal tasks?

Our large clients do not play league of legends on their warehouse deployed mining rigs Smiley

+1 , ethOS makes many rigs a breeze.

i'm planning on getting a digital copy of the ethOS
i have a quick question though;
once i got the ethOS up and running do i need to download and sync the ~10GB ethereum blockchain or is that included in the 16GB ethOS download?

No, you do not need to do anything with the blockchain on ethOS. It is not required for pool mining.
