Yes I see what you are saying there @stompix
McLaren can't let it slip so badly in losing the final three races of the season.

Saw a bit of news in the F1 yesterday while we wait for the next race in Vegas.
Monaco has agreed to an extension of a 6-year deal with F1 to continue racing until 2031.

Don't know how much Ferrari can gain, if we look at the raw stats they made 39 points in the last 3 races, they need 36 more so that would be doable on paper.
But what are the chances of McLaren really losing as bad for another 3 races as they have in their worst period this season?

Maybe I'm biased since I avoided a h2h bet between McLaren and Ferrari so now I don't want to see it happening but there must be a lot of starts aligning for Ferrari to gain that many points, McLaren to lose them, and who is going to win them? Alpine again?  Grin My bet is on Las Vegas sealing the fate of this championship for both  driver and teams, kind of interesting since it will happen in Sin city. One more week to go!

As the others have already mentioned he has basically solidified his win of the championship title with showing his pure dominance as an F1 driver.
I just looked at the bets, Max is 1.02 for the win, at this point it makes no sense to bet on any of the final results, no matter how disappointing McLaren was I don't see how RB could get back in the race for the title, not while they have only one pilot truly competing.

But what this race has proven is that we might need to change the schedule to have at least two races on wet, just as we have sprints we might need to have an artificial rain race, to see who can handle the conditions not the usual carousel around the track, if it's one thing that this race reminded me of it is how Schumacher was putting daylight between him and the rest whenever there was rainy weather on the tracks, so why not have some artificial weather also if people want entertainment this much?
There is still the Constructor championship so McLaren is still leading that according to the latest points leaderboard:
McLaren - 593 pts
Ferrari - 557 pts
Red Bull - 544 pts

But Ferrari can spoil the party as their drivers have been both putting in podium wins in the past few races and with three left to go can surpass a sleeping McLaren team.

No race this weekend so there is this void for us F1 fans to try and fill with some other sports going on.
But atleast Verstappen can rest a bit from that amazing comeback from nearly bottom of the grid to win the Grand Prix in Brazil.
As the others have already mentioned he has basically solidified his win of the championship title with showing his pure dominance as an F1 driver.
Norris interview just showed his frustration at the end of it and he knows he has no chance now at regaining anyway ahead of Max now.

@stompix You had it right from the very start of this race: It was a mess!

I was expecting a mess but I wasn't expecting this kind of, my take was on Lando pushing its car to the limits and going out a few times and Max recouping a lot of the difference so the points earned would again be way to low to count, not even in my dreams I would have expected a result that would bring the difference now to 62 points, Max is champion that's clear.
The problem I had with the result is the Ferraris, this complicated a bit my H2H bet, now there is only 13 points advantage for Ferrari vs RB, but to be honest, I think the RB victory was more of a fluke, and Max earning 13 more points than the Sainz and Leclerc is still not doable but I might just cash-out after next track if indeed worrying signs appear on the horizon.

Amazing that Verstappen made it from where he started to win this race which had to restart many times due to the weather and false starts

It must be clear that a series of factors came into play... in the very style of a script for Max to practically secure the title...

Apropos of this, the 4th title, 3.5 for those who see mathematical probabilities... BTW in another thread, there are already doubts about Max being the champion, I do not doubt the mathematical fact, and/or premise simple as "Yogi-isms": "It ain't over 'til it's over." , are very valid here... but this result determines the title with the name Max... the rest GP is only processed for the last name

@stompix You had it right from the very start of this race: It was a mess! Actually this entire weekend was with most drivers to hit the barriers due to the very wet conditions.
Was watching some of the race and seen Hamilton, Colapinto, Albion, Stroll, Hulkenburg and Sainz all DNF in this one.
That is alot of drivers not finishing a race due to wreaking their cars into the wall.

Amazing that Verstappen made it from where he started to win this race which had to restart many times due to the weather and false starts.

A mess of a session, all bookies have their bets closed right now, you can't even bet on the titles let alone the race and a disaster for RB, for the first time you have Max and Perez one after the other but it's 12 and 13 place.
But for entertainment purposes, Colapinto crashes, Sainz crashes, then Stroll, Alonso, and Albon the track is dry in some sections but rain is expected again, so this will be purely tactical, probably also a messy race where keeping your car on the track and a good tactic with the stops will be more important than the car itself. Either way from the looks of it McLaren will get the lead so let's see how they will manage to screw this up!

"When it rains, it pours"

Qualifying for the SP has been moved to Sunday morning:
https://www.formula1.com/en/latest/article/qualifying-for-sao-paulo-grand-prix-postponed-until-sunday-due-to-weather.C2RqUGIY8A87xNYtOSxeg

So it will get pretty tricky, qualifying in the morning and racing in the evening, it will take a bit of a toll on the pilots and their nerves. I don't remember when was the last time this happened, but as I quit watching F1 a few years ago I might not be the best guy to keep track of events. The interesting thing I what happens if the rain keeps going, will they schedule it for Monday or next week as clearly abandoning the circuit is not an option?
Due to the movement of the qualifying race today which is in around five and a half hours from now, they decided to have the race only an hour and a half right after. This will be hard on the drivers.
https://racingnews365.com/official-new-start-time-for-f1-brazilian-gp-qualifying

They were eluding to begin having these sprint races on the following Monday from what I was watching during last week's race. Which I don't see the point of doing this. Drivers want to only be there during the weekend and that is it.
This was the fifth race weekend to have this sprint format and there were six scheduled for this race calendar year.

People are calling for championship points penalty on verstappen due to his reckless defensive tactivs.

People aka one guy!  Wink

Meanwhile, McLaren is really embarrassing itself as a team, they first deny Norris the victory because points don't matter and it's more about the team and now they panic and do the opposite ordering the pilots to swap for what, 1 measly point? And I would have laughed till the end of the championship if they had messed the switch and allowed Max to pass Piastri too. Probably their best hope to erase more from the advantage is again in the inquiry, if there is one, at least that's what the commentators said.

One hour into qualifying, I feel tempted to take the two Ferraris for the top 3 finishing with each one serving as insurance for the other but lately, I've seen them working more like position engines, good/fail/good/fail, so probably again sitting this!

Time penalty is certainly not enough if he continues such tactics.  Undecided

The Argentinian is a really good driver from the limited season he was thrust into and track time allotted to him so to get use to the car. But now with such news given by darxiaomi who knows which team he will be racing for next season now as he has made himself into a hot commodity towards those looking for young talent like he has shown so far.

As for the race we have this weekend it is looking like the wets might have to be put on the cars for the new asphalt.

New info coming.....

Seems like we have a deal between RB and Williams, Colapinto to race on RB VISA CASHAPP in 2025. Perez out is gonna be announced in interlagos.

Rumours but.... is from very reliable source.

And then what? Is Yuki or Liam going to RBR? Yuki is still reckless and I don't think they'll have him and for Liam it may be too early.
Or there will be a more complicate move-around and RBR will borrow Sainz for some time? He does deserve a better car than Williams can offer now, but he's not the only one.

It was not the best outcome I hoped for, but still not a threatening result for my scheme.
Max lost 10 points on Norris, he needed to keep it under 12, a no loss right now would have sealed the championship title, on the other side my bet of RB losing to Ferrari itself, there is no way it could be lost, I'm rather a bit angry with myself I didn't put one on Ferrari against McLaren two months ago since only from cashing out I would have doubled the $.

As I said, nothing to be disappointed about, after all, Max gained points last time because of a penalty, lost a couple of now because one, I think he tried to pull the same maneuver as in Austin and it all went south.
Bottom line I think that still McLaren is the best car, Ferrari is slowly catching up and RB is just a complete outsider.

Also, Perez, I was so sure he was going to make a mess of this on his home ground but I wasn't expecting a last place!

Ferrari might be kicking themselves after sending him to Williams. Sainz came in second last race weekend and now with pole position for tomorrow.

I also think Sainz is showing a great performance this season. But I don't think Ferrari regrets the decision of sending Sainz from the team. People have been looking forward to watching Hamilton racing for Ferrari for a year. The money and ad income Ferrari gets from this signing would be much more valuable than Sainz's successful driving.

Looks like Sainz will win at Mexico as we are in Lap 40/71 and his Ferrari is looking the fastest car on track by far.

Curious to see how many points can Max recover after suffering a huge 20 seconds penalty because right now with current standings , Ferrari is just 5 points behind McLaren and already in front of RedBull in Constructor Championship.  Grin
