I don't think Red Bull will have a big difficulty in solving this issue. I assume they have the best engineers now to figure out a solution. This didn't happen in the first 2 races so it was a bit surpising to see this kind of a brake issue. Ferrari really had a good opportunity after this incident and they took it very nicely.

But if Red Bull have a run without much problem in the rest of the season I don't feel like Ferrari will be able to keep up with them.  Sad  Verstappen is already unstoppable under normal conditions and Perez has also made a really good start to the season. Even Verstappen was able to collect enough amount of points for Red Bull's championship last season you know.

So many bad spots for Redbull in the last 2 weeks right ? They have internal problems ( bigger and bigger ) , they have a bit of drivers problems ( Perez seems to be forgotten in that team in 2024 season ) and now they seems to have small car issues that might transition from a race weekend to another. Also , I'm very mad on McLaren and hopefully Piastri will keep this in his mind for the next races and whenever he will get that full green light , no one will be able to stand and face Piastri on track. This kid is the next gem in F1 and I pray Max will still have a championship car where Piastri will have his.

It is inevitable when a sudden problem occurs even the engineer of the car can not do a thing or doesn't have any explanation on what may have caused the problem, in that issue with what happened to RedBull, many were really surprised at what happened I was really surprised as Max Verstappen is pretty much well known in this kind of sports and losing, the last time Verstappen gotten a DNF was at the Australian Grand Prix in 2022 and this time it occurred again at Australia.

Oscar Piastri on the other hand is getting there even Lando Norris may become something big in the future even though those names are well known in this sports after max Verstappen have said something about his early retirement I think those new faces will become something big in the future or if they could attain a Red Bull machine.

They had just replaced the power unit on Verstappen's car so this could of caused the problems in that turn when Sainz overtook him causing the problems like a domino effect.
Just look at what his rear tire looked like when he pulled into the pits on the lap where he had to retire:

Way too much damage to the entire wheel well. The brakes caught on fire and of course the tire melting causing the cloud of black smoke while driving into the pit lane.

Just finished seeing the crash at the end of Russell and surprised they didn't red flag it either. Cars were still coming in and had to avoid the Mercedes turned on it's side.
Instead the race ended under a safety car for the last lap where Leclerc was only a second and half behind Sainz.

We will be having another two weeks off before the next race.
Enough time for Red Bull to figure out the issues and get Verstappen back on course.

The cause of that fire can be determined by the engineers but could they apply a solution in time as next is the Japanese GP Suzuka Circuit where Max Verstappen has done a perfect job and dominated the Practice runs, qualifying runs and the main race but if his car would not be ready by that time this will end up in a bad way for the Red Bull as Sergio Perez also was causing problem aswell.

He must of recovered quickly enough so that he took this race and on home ground, so well done to Sainz because from what I remember an announcer saying earlier it had been only two weeks since he was cut open to have his appendix removed.
https://abcnews.go.com/Sports/sainz-wins-melbourne-weeks-appendicitis/story?id=108441778

It was really an unbelievable race. Verstappen lost his brakes and was out of the race very early. This was where the fun was starting.  Grin

After his recovery Sainz made a huge comeback. He even won the Grand Prix which was top work by him. I wonder whether there was any team order for their drivers to maintain their places. If there wasn't then Sainz was really much faster than Leclerc during the whole race.

It was a nightmare for Mercedes on the other hand. Engine failure for Hamilton and Russell's terrifying crash in last lap... The interesting thing is there wasn't any red flag after. Just imagine Russell being hit in his car in the middle of the track.  Sad

You were spot on with your predictions for a Ferrari collection of points from Melbourne.

Yes, but I didn't expect this many points though.  Tongue

Australia, back in the day first race too, is quite tough at the first turn and that's the place where all the "fun" could happen if anything happens. I do not see how that would change any other way, if the first turn of the first lap, like right into the race, nothing big happens then the rest of the race nothing will follow. Because, we already know Red Bull is good, and nobody wants to risk making a pass there, they will just pass at the straight and not really put any danger anywhere else.

I think the race also has pretty good and less risky places to pass all over, so if nothing bad happens at the start then rest of the race will be boring to watch. At this point the only thing we care about will be who will be the second and third team, and Ferrari may actually do better here.
Think it was in the first lap which all the problems started happening to RB & Mercs.
Hadn't watched the race as it was freaking 1 am in the morning and nobody has got time for that nonsense after a fun Saturday night out.
They will re-televise the race in it's entirety so will be able to witness what occurred then.

Don't think they have released who would be racing for Ferrari yet.
As with what happened to him, it wasn't released until the day of qualifying. I remember that cause there was a blank spot on the markets without Sainz name there ahead of the Q1 race for a couple of hours.

I would suspect they will have the rookie continue on until Carlos fully recovers. Why put stress on him since with the sitting in the car and the vibrations of the track while in the cockpit of the F1 car could cause those stiches to reopen.

There is an update on Carlos Sainz's condition.

Source: Formula 1 official website

It looks like he is set to be back in his seat for this race week. He made a statement about his current condition and it was positive. This is pretty good news for Ferrari. I really admired Bearman's performance in his first experience but it is much more important for the team to have one of their main drivers back.

We can see Ferrari collecting many more points this week if things don't go south. Because you know how often Ferrari has had problems in the recent years.

It seems that I missed the Bahrain and Saudi Arabia GP and missed out on all practice runs and qualifying for the Australian GP that is going right now but even though I have missed that I still have the main race for this Grand Prix, I was not surprised in the following 1st two events because many really are expecting this to happen and this is the result for people that missed the 1st two races

BAHRAIN GRAND PRIX 2024

As expected Max Verstappen was still in the lead in this 1st race and dominating the race in Bahrain, with his co-teammate Sergio Perez I really thought that Sergio Perez would never recover back again, but just like last season he also was dominating at the start of the season with Ferrari in this case Carlos Sainz was in the 3rd position for this race.

SAUDI ARABIAN GRAND PRIX 2024

Another event was Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez leading the race with Verstappen in the lead and 2nd was Sergio Perez while the 3rd place was still for Ferrari but this time it was Charles Leclerc in the Podium.

AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX 2024

Now in the Australian Grand Prix, most practice runs were not for the Red Bull team because Ferrari was forcing their way in those practice races but in the qualifying Max Verstappen managed to get his way in the starting position when he managed to snatch the 1st position in the qualifying next Carlos Sainz, Lando Norris, and Charles Leclerc in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th position while Sergio Perez was on the 6th position for this Australian GP.

Wish for a different driver to get pole position this week and if it is anybody then it is Leclerc.
Looking for somebody to step up so Verstappen odds for the next race gets lower than 1.50x again.
So I can bet on him. But not for this one since 1.18x is still to low of an odd to place any amount on.

Yes, we are finally back with another F1 action this week!  Grin

The odds for qualifying winner:

The odds for race winner:

The current odds for the 'biggest favourites' are like this. However there is actually an overwhelming favourite like Verstappen.  Smiley  I would really like to see a different winner this week. Apart from that, I think that it might be nice to try out Leclerc's taking pole position @3.50. Ferrari has a car which is more powerful in single lap times.

By the way it is still not completely clear whether Sainz will be ready to race. However he was seen in the paddock so this could be a positive sign for him to race. I see Bearman's name in the odds for now though whatever gambling website I check.

There is a higher chance of having rain. The previous two were 7% while there is a 24% chance according to some gp blogs for this one. So we might have a soggy one for this Australian GP.

Well then that aligns well with everything mentioned by F1 media with them seeking a new driver or drivers.
The team needs a serious overhaul before next season as they are one of the worse teams from what the first two races of the season has shown. Them and Alpine which I think they are slightly worse.
~snip~
We have seen Haas drivers in places near the middle of the grid in the races we have left behind. However this is still not like a big success.  Haas would really make use of a good improvement to not lose these places in future races at least. Of course they need a lot of money for that and I can't say Haas is one of the rich teams currently.

I have heard that Haas also wants to make this improvement as strong as possible to not give a seat to a rookie in a problematic car. As for Alpine, this start is just terrible. If they can't keep up with other teams the number of points they collect would be likely to much less than the previous season - it was 120 points in total in 2023.
They are in sixth place in the constructor's championship so far. They are doing something.
But agreed with you if they want to welcome a rookie driver to their team they need to improve their cars.
So to not continue the trend on to him. Since he would be like a clean slate and not want to tarnish any aspirations they would want to bestow upon him in a problematic machine.
Maybe the recent firings from Haas will change things up for the better as the season progresses.

Alpine is having a problem and I am sure that it is not a good thing for a team like that to have a problem this big but at the end of the day they weren't really all that big team, not like they are doing something big before so it is understandable. Secondly, they could always have an improvement like Mclaren last year style, not saying that they will, but it is possible that it can be done so they are considering the situation to be like that and trying to make some big jumps.

Plus, not many cars get "that" good over a season, so that means we are not going to see them have trouble since they will figure out a way to do better eventually, just revert back whatever caused the trouble and that should not be issue.

Bearman was impressive during the race. He attracted Haas team principal Ayao Komatsu's attention quite much by this performance as well. For now he is competing in F2 maybe but he is getting more likely to join F1 next season day by day. There have already been news on the internet like Haas is planning to sign him.

Both of Magnussen and Hulkenberg's contracts are going to end by the end of this season. If one of the replacements is Bearman then I wonder who the other one will be. Bearman is only 18 years old as well. I believe he is the future of Ferrari too if he continues to perform ambitiously.

I believe they mentioned Bearman finished first in the  F2 race the day prior to them calling him to replace Sainz.

No race this weekend as their next stop is to the Melbourne Grand Prix Circuit in Australia,

You were correct!
Bearman did very decent work at his first F1 GP because he was plucked out of F2 to fill in for the Ferrari team.
He did such a smashing job that Haas were eyeing him as a prospect for next season, according to some reports.

Since there wasn't much else to talk about for the outcome of this race because Verstappen made it another notch in the winning streak from last season, we have Oliver to take all F1 fans attention.
He did impress Lewis Hamilton and being the first British driver since forever to drive a scuderia he took that away from the Brit for next season:

Verstappen's pole position was no surprise surely.  Grin  Even Perez couldn't match Verstappen's best lap time despite having one of the fastest cars on the track.

While there are only a few hours left for the race what is your thinking about the rivalry between Leclerc and Perez in the race? Who would finish ahead? I think Perez will do this once again even if Leclerc has a smooth race. In addition Sainz won't be able to race because of undergoing an appendicitis surgery. Oliver Bearman is starting in 11th place to the race in Sainz's seat. I think he has done a quite decent work so far.  Smiley

Odds for Saudi Arabian Grand Prix is even lower.
After qualification and Verstappen getting pole position the odds were 1.16x
Now they have lowered all the way down to 1.12x

It really doesn't make sense to bet on Verstappen in the circumstances. Maybe he wins nearly every single race but sometimes we see a different winner too. It wouldn't be nice to run into such race.  Grin
