Another thing that I didn't mention in my last post which I only noticed a few days after it had concluded.
Was this Daniel Ricciardo last race as an F1 driver?
He did take the fastest lap from Norris after pitting to put on new tyres.
https://www.the-race.com/formula-1/emotional-daniel-ricciardo-f1-career-brink-of-ending

They already have Lawson ready to take his seat if I am not mistaken from the post interviews done after the Singapore GP.

Yes, Liam Lawson takes Ricciardo's seat for the remainder of the season.  Wink

I wasn't expecting Ricciardo to leave this early. I mean I thought he would stay until the end of the season. But seeing him get emotional after the Singapore GP described the situation.

He doesn't want to be the 3rd driver for any team. He just wants a seat to race regularly. Otherwise we won't see him in F1 anymore.

Honestly F1 and crypto has been connected a lot in the recent years, so I am not shocked that we are seeing couple of drivers talking about it too. We have seen crypto.com ads everywhere, we have seen ads on cars, like kraken and such, and now we have Kick, which is a streaming platform I know, but it is also owned by the same company that owns Stake, one of the oldest crypto casinos in the world, they were one of the first to ever do it under the name primedice and they do promote it with kick name, but stake has been all over the cars before this as well.

And there are many others, from tokens to coins to companies in the crypto world, so crypto world has been very intertwined with f1 world for a long time and these are young guys who has been watching crypto for a while.

It seems that it was his last race in F1, we're only missing officiall announcement from him and team. I don't really know why they don't let him to finish season.
I will miss Ricciardo. He was one of my favourite drivers and when he was in Red Bull it looked that he have potential to become Champion. But some bad decisions and wasted potential turned him into mediacore driver.

What a surprise to not see the safety car doing some laps in this circuit, the tyres were usefull to make some long stints so the race turning to be very boring at the end.

Lando Norris was super lucky to not crash and destroy his own race. You cant kiss the walls so many times, and in a few laps without any reason, he had a very good gap to Max, no need to push so hard.

Well, Albon's car started overheating and got retired, I think that KMag got a puncture, but managed to get to pit and Lando was incredibly close to wreck his car... basically twice. So it could easily have been different.
Nothing was enough to interrupt the race thus causing it to be flagged. Those were incidents atone to running their vehicles on the track just as you would going down your own driveway with a nail on the end to cause you a puncture or going down the highway and your engine light going on so you need to get it to the garage.
So you know what I mean in being a relatively clean race - not enough for them to have the drivers so down.

I remember Lando almost going into the barriers and was mentioned right in the link I posted above your post:
https://www.racefans.net/2024/09/22/norris-beats-verstappen-to-singapore-win-despite-touching-barrier-twice

But we have only six more races left and a long respite til the next one on October 18th.

Can't see Ferrari doing anything in this race as both Leclerc and Sainz had performed poorly in qualifying with one going into the wall.

Well, they didn't and as I said before, I keep on pumping them up for the win against RB in the final standings, if I got this right RB increased their advantage by 9 points, so I expect at least 20 points better odds by late evening on this, I know how some bookies overreact on these as money flows.

Leclerc also seems to have - in many races - hard times passing anybody relevant during the race. This is a problem...
For now, as long as both Ferraris get home some points, the gap has better chances to go smaller and smaller, although this time it grew a little.
Luckily for Ferrari, McLaren car is incredibly fast and well balanced, denying Max quite some points. And Checo is disappointing in most of the cases, sadly.

Did I miss something apart from those two of Lando walls scares?

The start was interesting, with Colapinto gaining some 4 places in the first corner.
I also liked how Piastri overtook both Mercs in the same place (different laps though).
I disliked the fact Checo was unable to pass even Colapinto's Williams and Leclerc was forced to stay behind Alonso for more than 10 laps (luckily at some point Alonso went to pit to change tyres).

So a very clean race when you don't have any accidents nor mishaps.

It was like a walk in the park for Norris. A very easy win. I didn't expect a different result than that either. I saw it like the only driver that might stop him was Leclerc but he messed up in qualifying.

Verstappen must be very happy with his performance this weekend. Because Red Bull wasn't looking good at all. But this was a really extra performance. Mercedes couldn't keep up with Verstappen.

Now driver standings is like below. Verstappen is still 52 points ahead. There are 6 races left. To tell the truth, I'm not expecting Norris to become the champion unless Verstappen get really bad results in those races.

It was an easy win for Norris as he almost had 21 seconds ahead of Verstappen yet again in a race. This is the second race where he was ahead by such a wide margin of beating Max I think the other one was clear by more than 17 seconds. Which is a pure domination when it comes to F1 races.

What surprised me to hear at the end of the race this was the first race of the season that had no safety cars or yellow flags.
So a very clean race when you don't have any accidents nor mishaps.

On the other hand, Max is down 7 points, almost following the limit on what he can lose but I still don't see it happening. And to be honest, at this point is like an insurance bet, RB won't be able to hold Ferrari unless Max gets more points and if Max gets more points then he will defend his title also...unless some forbidden math comes in. As I said didn't watch the qualifying, didn't watch the race just the 5 mins resume, and judging by the SkySports cuts it was pretty uneventful? Did I miss something apart from those two of Lando walls scares?

Oh, and what a surprise, suspended odds for the constructor season win. Smiley

Can't see Ferrari doing anything in this race as both Leclerc and Sainz had performed poorly in qualifying with one going into the wall.
Max on the other hand has a chance for retribution as he recovered nicely when he nearly too went into the wall.
But Lando taking those turns at the Marina Bay Street Circuit with the sparks flying and having a jack knife effect skidding, is simply breathtaking.
So with that being said and Verstappen @5.00x to win today at the Singapore GP I will just go with Red Bull this day to come away with the win.
Even though both Piastri and Norris are statistically sposse to win today with the way their cars are performing on this track.

Piastri, Verstappen and Leclerc were the top three drivers before the last part of qualifying was just getting underway.

Too early to call a change while at least beating the Ferrari it's a positive sign for Max.
I'm all glued to the festival at Newbury right now and won't be watching this one or place anything on it but...it might sound like I have a fetish for this guy, but Perez...common man! I open the feed to see what's going on , keywords Perez exit suffers, I don't even need to click to read what's going on because I already know!

I've topped up another 50 on the Ferrari beating RB overall and if b some miracle Max manages to get more points that both Sainz and Leclerc I'm doubling down after the race, call it DCA or going long but this is the hill I'm willing to die on.

Looks like Carlos Sainz just went into the wall during Q3 so the remainder of the session under a red flag.
There were a double yellow before this red flag so those times who didn't make it to a certain point on the track got their times for it deleted and will need to start over again.

Yes, unfortunately...  Sad  Verstappen must be really angry with this situation. Because he had a better lap time than Piastri but it was deleted. Norris was also coming with the fastest lap among them.

Sainz lost the control of his car very easily. Even while preparing for his flying lap. It is a big accident I think. The mechanics will need to work hard to fix the rear.

Verstappen looks promising for top places this time. But pole? Nah, I don't think so.  Tongue  He will probably be slower than Norris and Leclerc both at best.

Qualifying has ended. Norris on the pole. Verstappen surprises and Ferrari fails...

So around 15 minutes until the first practice session gets underway to finally kick-off this race weekend for the Singapore Grand Prix.

Don't know if anybody else had noticed but there is a cryptocurrency convention going on right now there as they are running this GP.
Token 2049 is happening and look who is at the convention!

None other than Max&Lando to represent the F1 and show the sports love that is all cryptocurrency.

I really love this overlap between the two industries and with the time that they put there. It's sad I wasn't able to go this year but I will be going next year. Hopefully there would be a convention again for crypto. Thanks for sharing

I didn't see that to tell the truth, cool!  Smiley  This is a really good marketing strategy to draw people's attention. After visiting the website, I see there are a ton of more prominent speakers to attend there. I'm interested already.  Grin

FP2 has also finished.

It looks like the names on podium didn't change except their places. Just as my expectation, McLaren and Ferrari are fighting for top places. Maybe Red Bull won't even get any win in the remaining races at all who knows.

Here on this another street track, I expect Perez to be competitive again. I hope he doesn't crash with anyone this time.  Tongue  Both of qualifying and race are likely to be exposed to rain. Let's see the rain masters!  Grin

Practice 1 done.

https://www.formula1.com/en/results/2024/races/1246/singapore/practice/1

Max Verstappen at 4th place, ergh. Carlos Sainz is in 3rd place and said he was complaining about his break balance after finishing the race. Yuki Tsunoda was in 5th place and was also displeased with his team giving him late instructions. Oscar Piastri still finished 6th place despite having some delayed time due to a component issue.
Leclerc on the other hand had a smooth sail finishing the 1st place although Lando Norris was just behind him by +0.076s.

After checking these odds for the race was thrown back abit after seeing Verstappen sitting at massive 10.00x on the markets.
Even if it is prior to the Practice & Qualification sessions before the Singapore GP Final Race.

Here are those markets of both the qualification and race before this week's festivities begin on the street circuit:

The Stewards checked the driving line of the drivers on pervious laps. Sainz was on or close to his normal racing line, which forms a slight angle away from the right hand wall. From the exit to the point of contact he move approximately one car width further away from the wall. Perez moved approximately half a car width further away from the same wall, being more parallel to the right hand wall. It was thus apparent that while ahead, and having the right to drive his line, Sainz did move slightly towards a car that he had limited vision of. At the same time, there was nothing unusual about Perez’ line, but he could have done more to avoid the car that he had better view of.

In conclusion, the Stewards deem this to be a racing incident with neither driver being predominantly at fault, and take no further action.

Not surprised. They generally prefer to give no penalty in situations which there are more than one driver at guilt. But actually I believe both of them deserved a penalty there. Anyway, everyone has their own opinion on it.  Smiley

I agree with the marshalls, i dont see a clear fault of anyone, so.... its ok for me to not give a penalty, plus if you give a penalty only to one is gonna be a scandal why to X and no to the other driver, so they prefer to make a salomonic decission.

Plus no one change so much his direction so for me racing incident.
