I've already placed a bet on Leclerc to win the Singapore Grand Prix @5.00.  Grin

I know that it seems very difficult in these conditions but the odd is really attracting at the same time. This is F1 in the end and it is full of surprises. Maybe Verstappen will have a bad weekend unexpectedly and Leclerc will find a big opportunity to benefit from. I just want to see different winners in the rest of the races. Because it started to be pretty boring after Verstappen started winning like every single race. He has been winning for 5 races I mean. Even if Leclerc doesn't make a miraculous comeback in the championship he can at least win some races in the rest of the season hopefully.

I also wanna see my boy Leclerc get that W on Singapore, though I think it is too far-fetched at this moment given how Verstappen drives and how well he is performing lately. It would be a great upset if all of a sudden Charles managed to win every single remaining race and snatch the championship from Verstappen. Everything can happen, and sometimes all we need is luck for the gears to turn Cheesy

I've nothing to lose by betting on him for every single race left. I mean I'd only lose some money but not too much.   Grin

At least you got to enjoy the races and have some extra thrill alongside watching it Wink

IDK if a risky bet IMHO.

Sainz released an interview today or yesterday saying "I'm scared of the coming back of purposing at Singapore".

If Ferrari will really has if then they will have no chance of winning since they will need to increase the height of the car. (and slowing it)

He can stay in a partial capacity for many years if he so chooses, I'd guess he is a test driver more then a main driver if he has already announced he will retire from serious competition.  Personally F1 is such an exciting sport who wouldn't want to stay around to be part of every future iteration and development by teams.   The sports commentator route is the most obvious for a retired driver but not everyone will or can go that way.

It looks like Vettel isn't going to be in Alpine's test but he is still rumoured to be in talks with Alpine for the seat. However maybe the media might really be exaggerating the current situation. Maybe Nyck de Vries might have a chance for the seat after his first Formula 1 experience. Or he might find a chance at Williams. I'm pretty sure that any driver to replace Latifi would be much better than him.  Cheesy

I'm curious about Ricciardo's future more. Because he was shown as one of the most skilled drivers on the grid in the past. But now his performance is far away from that definition. Actually McLaren have a better car now. Norris has collected 88 points so far but Ricciardo has only 19. Maybe Ricciardo doesn't feel like he belongs with McLaren. He was much better at Red Bull and Renault. Maybe changing his team will help him perform better than this. But the biggest team that he can go to is Alpine now as it seems.

Vettel coming back ? Are these rumors ? Having any truth behind it ? or simply speculations?
From what I heard Vettel may indeed "come back", but not as driver. He may come in charge of the rules / changes needed in F1 for making it (much) more climate friendly.

There are far too many young drivers who want seats in F1, and Seb is the "keep his word" type of person, so I think that (unfortunately!) expecting him to come back as a driver is too much and has no basis.
I agree, Vettel said he is going to retire and he is going to retire for sure. There isn't any "unless...." situation, there will be no reason for him to comeback.

If the situation was about money or team, he would say that he is going to keep on racing if a decent team offered him something but he will no longer race for Aston Martin, that way he could have found himself a spot in one of the middle pact teams, would be hard but could happen. He just wanted to retire for good, not team change, and f1 climate thing could be great for him, he wanted it badly and maybe he could put a lot more emphasis on the ERS and make the teams turn into e-formula a bit more, can't be fully that, but could definitely help increase the value of it.

Are you sure?

The retirement news from him is already making some mess for other drivers' contracts, It's just a buzzword from Media. Same with some youtube media who always share using "Bombshell" word.

Don't trust any media, they only use a buzzword.

Speaking of driver rumours, me hearing Mick's run out of favour...

Hm.. and what's going to happen with the Sauber team (currently Alfa Romeo) in 2024 and 2025 until Audi takes it over?!

No idea, the news item I read didn't mention anything about that. As I said, I actually don't even know if any of those things really impact the sport itself. Branding seems almost irrelevant these days in terms of results.

I think that's more than power units there, it may be full brand, like Alpine/Renault is, handling both chassis and power unit.
What I find very interesting is the double branding / competition between sister companies: around 2026 also Porsche will come into F1 (taking over RBR?), but... both Porsche and Audi are sisters under Volkswagen Group Cheesy

It doesn't help people like me understand the politics or the effects either. Seems to my untrained eye that in the end it will just be a few giants in the end, like it isn't already. It'll be like a Poker tournament where ll the players are just sponsored by a few companies, or a few big names backing many hands at the same table.

Vettel coming back ? Are these rumors ? Having any truth behind it ? or simply speculations?  I don't see Vettel making his mind as he is the type of guy who once he told something , he will fulfill it but I think Mick has the biggest chance right now as Nick will most likely take Hamilton seat when he retires and until then he will drive that Williams next year as well as I don't see Latifi hanging on that seat for next year but Alpine have a big issue to solve as I'm sure is not great to compete in a 4 way tie for a driving seat...

Vettel coming back is going to be huge news for F1 fans. Personally, I would really be excited If Vettel makes a return to F1. But also I also agree with the fact that you said he is one of those guys who finish or achieves what he says. You are right that Nick is going to be Hamilton's successor, but also Mick has a really good chance of doing good in the position he is in right now. I just want clarification on whether Vettel will be making a return or not.

I also think that the media is trying to cause a sensation, that's all. Because there is no meaning in stating your retirement clearly first and deciding to do the opposite in a short time. I wonder what Alpine could offer him to convince him. Being the main driver of the team? Or maybe a big improvement in the power level of their car? Alpine are targeting to become one of the most powerful teams in time for sure. But it is very difficult for them to do this next season that's for sure.

As a result Vettel would be likely to retire anyway. I wonder who will be Ocon's new partner in the team after Alonso's shocking departure. They were planning to keep Piastri and promote him to be one of the drivers. But McLaren's move caused a change of plans. I guess Ocon won't be their main driver next season. Maybe we could see even Ricciardo there as his future team is still unknown.

WHAT, i repeat WHAT???. Vettel coming back?
It's just a buzzword from Media.

100% sure he was retired from F1, Imagine announcing yourself retiring but deciding to continue to F1 again ~LOL. There still has some chance he is following the same step as Kimi, still racing but not on F1.

Nick Devries make a really good step forward with that last race.
Rumor replace our Goatifi on Wiliam ~LOL.

WHAT, i repeat WHAT???. Vettel coming back?, i dont know Alpine doesnt seems to have a car to fight any, they said all the time, yes the next year we are going to have a car who can compete, but year by year its the same midfield car, a little better but not a top car. So why Vettel wants to race again in a shit car.?

Nick Devries make a really good step forward with that last race.

According to the source below, Alpine are planning a test in Hungaroring for four drivers to determine the drivers of next season.

https://racingnews365.com/alpine-to-test-four-contenders-for-2023-drive-ahead-of-singapore-grand-prix

These drivers are Nyck de Vries, Jack Doohan, Colton Herta, and Mick Schumacher. In addition to these drivers, Vettel might also be a part of this test which means that he might not be retiring. He seemed so determined about his decision to retire so I wonder what's changed now. Nyck de Vries raced in F1 for the first time and even collected some points. He is a promising driver but he has really tough opponents in this test. Mick Schumacher couldn't meet the expectations at Haas unfortunately. So he will need to make a bigger effort to impress Alpine somehow. If Vettel joins this group then he will start 1-0 ahead.  Grin

Sorry if this is old news but I just came across it, and not really an F1 follower, so not even sure if it's such a big news at all but...

Alfa Romeo leaving next season, and Audi coming in in 2026 (as a power unit supplier, what? haha).

Have to admit am lost about how teams are branded now, or if it even doesn't matter anymore with teams and drivers seemingly switching to and fro and guys like Hamilton not even knowing the full name of his employer haha

A points lead of 335/219 between Verstappen and Leclerc and three other drivers over 200 certainly makes the other 6 races of the 2022 season not very interesting.  By the way, the gap between the teams in terms of red bull and Ferrari points is not so huge and is 545/406.  But this is also a lot.
So the result of the 2022 season is almost already known in advance.

Too bad, the beginning of the season was much more interesting. Sad

Have to agree. I did think Verstappen would win this one, but I definitely did not foresee how Ferrari would spectacularly shoot themselves in the foot -- repeatedly!

I think the cars are almost the same.

Nothing different at all, the different only "Russel" can maximize the car's performance comparing Hamilton. However, don't really say Hamilton on bad performance because the gap points with Russel is not really big.

Mercedes is not focusing in this season, since they all already speak up about this season. Redbull is taking this year season, so they are gonna to focus chasing 2nd Place on Constructor + focus in the next years
I agree with this, it looks like we are going to end up with something much more boring with the rest of the season, Max will just be on a pure domination and win the season and Red Bull will win it too, a second for Max, and finally Red Bull back at the top again after so many years of break since 2014, still good though many teams haven't won at all.

In the end, we should be considering this season gone because Ferrari tried but they failed with their staff not because of the car or the drivers, and Mercedes didn't had the car, so it is all on next season. It is still racing though, I will still watch it no matter who wins because I like to see those little things that happen during the races. Plus we can still watch what happens with other teams.
