Mercedes did surprise many at the Brazil track getting a one two podium win. I really thought Hamilton was the one who was going to win and he could of but decided to let Russell finish on how he started, ahead of the pack.
Ferrari to me are really doing poorly and I doubt they will finish in the top 10 this coming race in Abu Dhabi.

I will be putting my bets on a Red bull or Mercedes finish this weekend to round off the season.

I think there is going to be hell of a race in Abu Dhabi.  Grin

Because just look at the heated race for the second position in the driver standings:

Even Russell has a chance to take the second position now. Maybe it is really difficult as he needs Leclerc - Perez duo to have zero point in this race. Russell needs to win by having the fastest lap just as he did in Brazil at the same time as well. Maybe it can be another great week for Mercedes drivers but I don't think that Russell would be that lucky to make all this happen.  Grin

I still can't believe in Leclerc much to retain the position truthfully. Because Ferrari are a big disappointment still. The recent race weekend was a proof for that. Perez has fired up a lot now. Because he is really frustrated about Verstappen's attitude now. He didn't let Perez overtake himself while the points were important for Perez. Verstappen said that he had his own reasons. I assume I know that reason.  Grin  It must be about Perez's crash in the Monaco GP. Anyway I expect Perez to be very ambitious in this race and I think he can finish the season as the 2nd.

This shows how bad was the Ferrari season.... going from high to low. A shit season, how can be, one driver with a car who cant win races until the last of the season (Russel) still have chance to win against you.
And what can i say about the constructor championship.... If Mercedes finally surparse they.. i think Binotto itself has to gone away.

In the other side, Mercedes its the real one team, with a 1 second slow car in most of the season they still fight.

Looks like I missed one hell of a weekend, some 500/1 guy winning pole, and then Russell reminding everyone that he's actually still racing haha.

I'm in 8th place now with one final race to go. Anyone want to do me a favour and not put in picks for the next weekend? Wink MoSala and CLS63: early congratulations to the both of you. I know

@boltz all in on Hammie next then yeah?

I do hope Rdbase , I hope! I want to see Hamilton having a blast at least once this year and Brasil seems to be the right place ? Because he is well loved there and people will cheer for him if this happens. Also , Brasil loves him even more , because Senna family have Hamilton the respect he deserved and got him that Senna helmet. Then , if we go back to reality a little , we can notice that no car can stop RedBull and Max  Grin Grin Grin.

Until race , let's hope rain won't stop us from watching the Sprint Race today. Cool

One of the best tracks in the season, or maybe the best.

I totally forgot we have a sprint race here. Nice to see when we dont have so much for fight in this end of the season.

I see in social media so much drivers going on vacation in nearby countries, Bottas per example was in Argentina and Vettel in Chile.

This is my second favorite track with first being Spa but there is always something unique when you race in Brasil ...the home of GOAT Senna.

Remember sprint race from last year ? where we saw Hamilton having a blast and almost winning the race ? he started that sprint race from last place if I remember correctly and managed to climb until 6 or 7th place and next day in race , he won it and it was one of the most massive comebacks from last place on the grid to win it on Sunday.

Yea , I saw some pictures with Bottas on his bike but Vettel on Chile ? This guy is really a humble person in all aspects.  Smiley
I completely agree with you there @darxiaomi, it is a good track which is not overly complex and overtaking will play a factor.
Vettel and Bottas do need a vacation for some r'n'r for both drivers are aging and I guess the joints are requiring the time off with some fun in the sun at those locals.

@boltz I do remember and actually causing me to change my selections in the pool for both fastest time and pole with him to win it.
I initially had Verstappen as the obvious choice in all categories but not being pressured in the slighted and just to have fun out there knowing he has captured the season already.
Maybe even let Hamilton bask in some of that sunlight to glory on the podium.

After the failure of Ferrari in the last races due to engine problems due to the height of the track, which by the way is at an altitude of about 2000 meters above sea level, the next track in Brazil is only 700 meters high.
In general, I am very surprised at the decisions of Ferrari engineers to turn off the engine power and this was clearly wrong, or rather, they probably took care of the engines too much and as a result lost too much in speed.  It seems like experienced specialists in the team, but in general they were very screwed up.

This is quite a boring season for Drive to Survive series that's for certain.

With Seb leaving? With the Alonso drama? With Ricci leaving? With the uncertainty over Mick?
With all the issues about the car's floor? With Ferraris having such a good start and such a bad continuation?
With Russell being overall more constant and arguably better than Lewis?
With Checo telling at some point that he is aiming for the championship?

I think that there will be enough ammo for a bit of drama and a good enough season, really.

More on-topic: I see that the Brazilian GP will bring again a sprint race. I was missing those, actually. It will be a fun week-end.

Only two more races to go and then Max can finally chill out with his trophy for the holidays.
Next track is in almost two weeks away on the nice backdrop of Brazil.

Then the final one is Abu Dhabi where there was controversy between Verstappen and Hamilton of who actually won the race.
Good there will be no drama giving anymore material for netflix this year. As the title has been settled.

Just maybe Ricciardo trying to show he still has that drive that made him a great driver.
Did you see how many places he went up from that roll up by Tsunoda on his car? He was on fire in the last 10 laps of the race.

Yeah there is no drama in the last race for the championship this time.  Grin  This is quite a boring season for Drive to Survive series that's for certain. However they can still focus on Ferrari's fall after a solid start to the season. At least it would be worth watching. Because their fall was really quick. I was thinking about them to be the favourite team for the championship. I even thought like this could have been Leclerc's season to make it to the title.

About Ricciardo, his effort in the last race was impressive indeed. He was voted for the driver of the day as well. Maybe his ambition is starting to be back I don't know. But it looks like he will wait for Hamilton to retire to take his place at Mercedes. This means that we won't see him racing actively in a season until then unfortunately.

I know this has nothing to do with F1 but Title Decider today in MOTO GP between Bagnaia vs Quartararo , Ducatti vs Yamaha guys. I'm usually not hyped up when I hear about Mogo GP but a title decider in last race ? I'm down for that.

Will anyone from our community going to watch this race ? if so , will you place any bets ? I'll go with Bagnaia to win the title just because he has a good chunk of points in front.

I forgot to say one thing i had noticed in the last race, How bad the Ferrari engine sounds. When i heard that engine i feel like a minipimmer its in use.

I don't remember that at the beginning of the season it sounded so bad. Anyone more noticed this?

Coming back to the next tracks, yes for luck we have Interlagos a very fun circuit in the next round.

One question Ferrari have 40 margin against Mercedes, do you think Mercedes can overpass them?
I noticed one of the Ferrari's engine did sound strange when they had the view from inside the car. Sounded like a loud lawn mower and did not sound like it should have.
Was high pitched when it was shifting up out of a turn.
Hope the engineers can have that problem fixed by the time the next race begins. Which is quite a way's away.
I can see Mercedes over taking them because Russell seems to be getting use to Hamilton and as you have seen they were between second and fourth for most of the race it seemed.

Max's next victory is generally not surprising.

I actually get the impression that the teams that performed worse than they could due to the wrong choice of rubber for the race, in general, did it intentionally.  Of course, I am far from the idea that contractual races are also practiced in F1, but all the same, such decisions certainly raise questions.  To which there are no logical answers. Huh
And of course the speed of Red Bull cars is impressive.
I think it is very comfortable for Verstappen to compete in such a car.
It's a pity for Leclerc - at the end of the season, he somehow upsets the fans. Sad

Checo I expect to make it to the podium for atleast one Red Bull car will make it up there.

Checo's car had electrical and DRS issues.
This can be meaning anything, from recovery and ending in top 3 to even abandoning. I hope for a home win from him, he would deserve that (but as I said, his chances are far from great).

We had an electrical issue throughout quali, and with DRS we were struggling and so on. It was important to make sure we got everything right, but I was pretty much blind through quali – I had no reference lap time, I had no information on my brake balance or times, so it was just a mess
Yeah I was wondering why he couldn't advance any further in the last couple of laps until they mentioned it.
I had him to get the fastest lap and had it almost all race long, until Russell decided to change tires and take it in the final lap.
Could of made up some spots in the pool but alas was not ment to be.

Congratulations to Max Verstappen for breaking the record for the most races won in a season at 14.
Passing Vettel and Michael Schumacher.

Max can break another record today right ? He is currently chasing Vettel and Schumi record for most wins in 1 season of F1. If he somehow wins today , which I found it hard to believe , he will enter in history at such a young age but then again , Ferrari and Mercedes won't let this happen so easily.

Odds are also with Max but appeal odds on Mercedes as well. Shocked

Verstappen has 13 wins now just as Vettel and Schumacher's records. He needs only one more win to have the record by himself. He can still even get 16 wins as there are three races left now.

I think that Verstappen will be the winner of the Mexico GP and he will break this record also. He is still the fastest driver on the grid now. In the qualifying session, Mercedes drivers were really impressive though. Russell could have even got the pole position if he didn't make a simple mistakes while finishing his last lap attempt. However it is doubtful if any of Mercedes drivers can compete with Verstappen during the race. Red Bull have the most durable and fastest car and Verstappen is still very ambitious.
