Perez of course deserved the win considering his amazing performance during the whole race. However I think the penalty given to him was not right. It should have been more than only a 5-second penalty. FIA's actions are helping Red Bull quite much this season and this is making people uncomfortable as a result. We all know of course that Red Bull still has the fastest car on the grid but they must finish every race without this kind of suspicions.

By the way I've heard some things about Red Bull's punishment for exceeding budget. It is the same for Aston Martin also though. According to some rumours the punishments will be like this:

- €7.5m fine
- Spending less time in wind tunnel

This is like a joke to me honestly. I think that this deserves a bigger punishment because these teams gained more advantage for themselves by spending more money. Now they are just saying that these teams will spend less time for analyzing their new upgrades etc. from now on. This isn't a huge punishment at all.

And this is a joke.

The last time happened was with Vettel in 2010 or 2012 and he got a driver through for a total penalty of 28 seconds.

2 hours to take the not decision because giving to him the minimum amount without letting him lose a single position is like a no-decision.

Well, at least Russell has deserved a penalty too, tbh. And if Leclerc would have been to deserve victory, he should have been overtake Checo. He was close, but was unable to do the step.
So, it could have been different, but Checo did deserve the win.

Finally the decision about Perez's incident is clear and he has been given a 5-second race penalty for the safety car infringement.

Finally the decision about Perez's incident is clear and he has been given a 5-second race penalty for the safety car infringement. Still he held onto his win because he was already ahead by 7.5s. I really don't understand how Leclerc was that much behind in no time. Perez was like feeling his breath on his neck for many laps. But suddenly Leclerc started to be so slow. Perez got a call from his team to push hard to get away from Leclerc though but this was still too much I believe.

https://www.formula1.com/en/latest/article.perez-handed-5-second-post-race-penalty-for-safety-car-infringement-but.2vdA3PWzdwePdNgObHpLr4.html

Perez got a totally deserved win above all else. Congrats to him for being the driver of the day at the same time. Verstappen and Hamilton had a quite bad day. Russell was even worse and I'm still surprised that he still wanted to finish the race despite being out of top 10. They gambled big with changing his tyres to mediums early but the plan failed hard. Somehow he kept the fastest lap at the end though. This was a big opportunity for Leclerc to win but he missed it.

What a great race by Sergio Perez. Probably his best in all of his career, knowing that he led the race from start to finish is amazing. He definitely deserves the driver of the day as well.

Anybody who was stressed as well with everything that has happened on the Singapore GP? Having a lot of DNFS etc? A lot has happened really and a lot of safety cars.

I think this race might end on timing because we are 1 hour and 6 minutes into the race and we are only on lap 28 and if the radar shows well , we might have another round of rain in the by the end of the race.

Sergio Perez had a great start and I don't see him losing this race but it all depends on the strategy he has and also if the rain or another SC shows up.

Alpine...double abandon for them and it was a great weekend for them with a new floor for the car and it seems they extra stressed the car for this race which is already pretty hard to finish for cars with low downforce.

20 minutes to go until official race time but the rain just stopping the engineers are seeing what they can do now.
They just showed a radar on screen of the storm front passing above the race track.
So won't expect the race to actually start for another few hours.

Leclerc on pole for the race tomorrow is basically him taking off his glove and slapping Verstappen in the face with it.
He is not giving up and not making excuses so expect both Ferrari's to come out guns blazing in Singapore early in the morning.
For us anyways. Think I saw it will begin at 5:30am est.

Rofl.  It's nice to see the meme is catching on in these parts.  He's not just the goat, he's Goatifiii.  Cheesy  The Goatifi meme originated at Formula Dank at Reddt.  Those guys are so hilarious and catch anything funny at any point in the race then they go post a meme asap.  Their favorite seems to be Toto Wolff still and Lewis Hamilton.  That guy takes himself so seriously it becomes funny.  Ferrari memes were funny at first but the team has been below average in their decision making, it stops being funny and you start feeling sorry for them...  Mostly Leclerc.

Almost as funny for me as football troll accounts, but yeah, it's weird when you feel sorry for the prancing horse -- almost like I feel sorry for Man United. It's definitely more fun when a team is on the rise and just can't win, but this has become a comedy of sorts.

I feel sorry mostly for Leclerc than the team.  It's not his fault if the team makes bad calls under pressure.  And it's not even Binotto's fault, it's their race strategist, tho Binotto should take responsibility with him as the team principal.

Same with Man United...  At the time when they were in a deep rut, I felt for the players, Pogba, Rash, Greenwood, etc...  It wasn't their fault their manager was tactically inept.  Lol.

Anyway, quali is starting...  I quit watching Arsenal vs Spurs after the red card.  :/

Edit:  Don't forget to head on to Formula Dank for the memes.  Wink

Even after witnessing the dominant runs from Red Bull I still see Mercedes Russell taking it and having pole position for tomorrows main race.

Call me a dreamer but I have a feeling that they want to pull out all the stops and have him as the No.1 driver for the arrows.

I'm always thinking like this, which made me suffer in my picks. Not just for F1. Unfortunately in this sport, pulling out all the stops and guts and passion aren't nearly enough. Verstappen's post practice comments about the times not being representative, they don't sound like excuses, sound actually like factual. Who knows, anyway, my picks are in: Max pole, Sainz fastest, Ham podium, Russel sandwiched...

I can see heat even though it is running at night being an issue for Hamilton.

As always TIFOSI

Don't be happy first while we're dominated on Friday-Saturday because we all know, our team is always elite in Practice & Qualfied but hard podium in Sunday ~XD. Seem like after GP-Singapore we already know the World Championship.

Last 5 race not gonna be excited.

To be honest , it was about time for Lattifi to leave F1 and focus on other aspects of his life because F1 is really not for everyone even if you have a ton of money behind you , at some point , a change will be necessary for the sake of the sport.

Meanwhile , FP1 is on the way and Max and RedBull are looking dominating so far and they are testing the mediums and Ferrari with slicks , cannot get closer to them but yet again , this is only FP1.

The goat is behind his 2 teammates and one of them did only 1 race  Grin.

Maybe that is part of why he be goat? Wink

I would not be surprised if this was the last straw that has convinced everybody (including himself) that he must leave.

To be fair - it looks very much similar to Russel's stats when he was in Williams, doesn't it? I remember that Kubica's 1 point was a "game changer"  Cheesy
We know Williams was a team where you came if you REALLY REALLY WANTED to be F1 driver and you were lucky enough to have someone who pays for that.
Russell is ahead of Hamilton in team points and I have him in the forum pool to grab pole position.
He is not one to sleep on and he does not have the title on his mind as that has been out the window awhile ago now for Mercedes.
He just might be the main driver for the silver arrows instead of Hamilton in the coming seasons.
Let's all face it, Lewis is a complainer and Mercedes needs results and he does not seem to care about those anymore.
Russell is the future face of Mercedes and mark my words he will be soon enough.

This is the one where he will shine the brightest for the arrows.

Don't make a comparison of Goatifi with Mr.Consisten. Even Russel getting 0 points, but he can manage and maximize the cars and can be a reliable driver in some situation we needed. Russel on William is a golden son, he get the opportunity to drive for Mercedes in Bahrain and got a good result (Just because a car problem & make him DNF). We all know "Latifi" power is because money power.

I agree, but remember after 10 or 20 or 50 years, all we have are stats. It is like football games results - you see that in 1970s team A lost to team B and you do not care if it was because of rain or goalkeeper's headache. The same here - Russel was moved to Mercedes and it opened completely new possibilities for him,, but when you look at his results from Williams era, you will see zeros. And in stats there will be zeros, without addnotation that car was a junk or "0 but he fighted". In fact he fighted only with his team partner, that's where Williams were.

Here’s how Verstappen can seal the F1 world title in Singapore:

If Verstappen wins with the fastest lap, Leclerc finishes eighth or lower and Perez finishes fourth or lower
If Verstappen wins without the fastest lap, Leclerc finishes ninth or lower and Perez finishes fourth or lower without the fastest lap
Any alternative results which don’t fit into those two scenarios and the title fight rolls on to the Japanese GP.

Maybe Leclerc still seems to have a chance for the title mathematically we all know that this is impossible.  Grin

Last season Verstappen was way ahead of Hamilton also but Hamilton started to catch up with him before it was too late for everything. I'm afraid Leclerc hasn't been able to do this due to significant problems Ferrari have had. I wouldn't be astonished if Verstappen declares his second championship in his career by this GP. Because I still don't trust Ferrari even a bit as Leclerc might have a serious issue which could cause him to retire or finish at a very low position.

Ricci had a not-too-bad seat at Alpine and the other options are much more problematic cars. Of course, his RBR like days are gone and it's hard to ever get close to that anymore (Checo has proven to be more constant/reliable for RBR than Ricci has been).

Perez has definitely proven himself to Red Bull about that topic. Ricciardo loves the competition with even his teammate. It was what he was doing while he was racing for Red Bull also. I still remember the horrible accident him and Verstappen had. It was a very simple mistake by Ricciardo as he hit Verstappen from the back. He had problems with Verstappen which caused his Red Bull career to end not much time later.

Actually Alpine are in a better condition than McLaren. Because McLaren disappointed people with their performance despite having a lot of money to use for the development of their car. They had a much bigger potential than this. Everything can change next season of course if McLaren work hard to prepare a much more powerful car. They need to use their funds efficiently from now on.

Maybe Ricciardo can still do much better at Alpine compared to his performance in the current season. Because if he doesn't have any problem with Ocon like he has with Norris from time to time, he would race smoother. He is still one of the most skilled drivers on the grid. But it is hard to expect the performance he had at Red Bull from him at this point.

Alpine has now a problem because Alonso has left them abruptly and they didn't manage to do good with Piastri either.
The cars are not bad for 2022, but lately the Mercs start to look better and McLaren has a good chance for a much better start next year.
