Slava Ukraini!
Feeling so hyped before tomorrow's 1/4 final between Lithuania and Serbia. I think there is no favorite and winner will be decided in small details. After big win against USA I hope that our players will stay humble and hungry. We already have painful experience from 2004 Olympics when we won vs USA in meaningless group stage game, but ended without medals.
In other game I don't see Italy making upset against USA, expect that USA will win quite comfortable.

Who took the money line? You are rish now! Cheesy
I took it @8.60, though, it was small bet, just 0.5 mBTC. Too bad that I didn't made bet few days ago when Lithuania win was rated @13.00.

Yeah, I watch this match and imagine that you lose everything of your career with this seasonal tournament that doesn’t pay you the same fees when he is on the normal league.

I think there’s still a chance for him if he can find a donor but I doubt that he can still play the same with this kind of injury sustain internally.
That's shocking, especially considering that accident looked innocent and probably most of athletes had such moments many times in their career. I just correct you a bit - players in national teams don't get paid at all.

Simanic was the unluckiest player during this FIBA. His kidney got removed because of one of their games when he got hit by an elbow. He's in a delicate situation and I just wish him a speedy recovery. This surgery will change his life forever especially to his basketball career.

Serbian men's basketball player Boriša Simanić underwent an emergency surgery Sunday − his second in less than a week − to remove a kidney after he sustained an elbow to the midsection at the FIBA World Cup in Manila.

Lithuania vs. Serbia
Italy vs. USA

Any thoughts?

USA is not going to lose against Italy; they've learned their lesson, so they will play harder this game. I wouldn't touch this game, though, as the spread is very high. Considering their previous loss, they might not cover the spread anymore. Instead, I would just focus my bet on Lithuania vs. Serbia. Since Lithuania has already beaten the USA, there's no question which team I would bet on.

Lithuania definitely has high chance of winning since they are undefeated despite they face many strong teams in their group including USA. One of Serbian player reportedly lose a kidney after taking an elbow fro South Sudan player. I'm not sure how much his contribution is but he surely important player for the Serbs.

So tomorrow, Quarterfinals.

Any favorites guys?

Since the beginning of the tournament I have been thinking that Canada would be able to win the World Championship. My favourites for the quarter finals are like this: USA,GER,SRB,CAN

By the way the news is really sad that the Serbian player Borisa Simanic lost his kidney because of a blow he received at the end of the match. When I watched the replay of the incident it didn't even came to my mind that such thing would happen.

So tomorrow, Quarterfinals.

https://www.fiba.basketball/basketballworldcup/2023/groups

Any favorites guys? Because we all know what country will be the favorite by the gambling sites but I want to see your favorites on the teams left in this quarterfinals.
One of them is already down, and that is Australia. Checking my first posts they are on the top 4 which is @11.00 if they win the whole game. Oh, and the same goes with France which is really surprising.

I'm thinking Germany or Slovenia might win this tournament. Germany as stats analysis for my first pick and Slovenia as an emotional pick, big fan of Luka Doncic.  Cheesy

@Viscore
I am going for Lithuania's money line in the first game. Then, USA -14.5 at the 2nd game. I don't think Italy can handle them.

To be honest, I was surprised that America lost.

I'm not quite surprised of the outcome, i initially thought that US would win but with a slim margin, my gauge was that they struggled against Montenegro. With Lithuania firing from all cylinders in the first half no doubt they will be the champion of this year's FIBA World Cup if they repeat that performance in the Finals (considering they would get a slot). America for me is a young team so betting for them in the quarters is a bit risky that is why i would back their opponents with that high spread if there is an opportunity.

Team US indeed is still young, but the efforts are really something that fans would love to see, despite of that lost chances for team US
still alive, though like what you said, if spread will be high, that possibility that bettors will back the opponent up.

Still early for concluding as there are upset to expect and results that might be unexpected. So far, the tournament shows good competitions
from each participating team, moving to the next round would add more entertainment for both fans and the bettors behind.

Despite their loss, I still admire their effort to come back and make it a close game. Lithuania is a great team, often underrated, with plenty of excellent three-point shooters. I think now that the USA has already lost a game, although not yet eliminated, things are getting more interesting and unpredictable.

If there are still future FIBA odds available, I don't think the USA would be the top favorites anymore.

Anyway, we have two games tomorrow:

Lithuania vs. Serbia
Italy vs. USA

I think this guy Abando should have played more minutes in the FIBA, I mean he is so electrifying that it could affect his team mates and that's what happen here. Clarkson is on fire, Kai Sotto had a good game. I thought it will be close because at the start of the 3rd quarter, Japan took the lead by the Philippines doesn't want to lose this one.

And suddenly Clarkson, he is on fire, hitting those 3 pointers and in matter of minutes he had like 20 points and then the Philippines pulling off a double digit lead. Hopefully this will carry the momentum of Gilas in order for team Philippines to qualify for the Olympics.

Rhenz Abando once played in Korea the air and the gameplay there was so intense that Abando got spring loaded knee he could surely jump high enough I really don't know what kind of training they gave to Abando but surely he is a real-life Sakuragi from Slam Dunk Anime surely every time Renz Abando makes a crucial point the team would instantly gain momentum and they would likely get infected with Renz Abando's positivity when playing,

There are rumors that Renz Abando was seen by some NBA scouts and surely he has shown his presence to all that is watching the game in China, for sure if Rhenz Abando can get more playing time the team will likely become lively like this even though there are no good playing strategy for the coach there are still good strategy and experience for the players,

Since Gilas is already eliminated and they don't have any more games in this tournament and i think people in the Philippines will surely be rooting for the USA to be the champion of this year's FIBA World Cup. They have a game today against Lithuania and i just wanted to ask the opinion of some users here if USA will be able to cover that -14.5 spread as I'm hesitant to put my money on them with that wide spread.

That game with Lithuanian surely was a close one it was a shocking game for sure but the USA prevailed in the last quarter of the game while the Lithuanian had a huge lead that the USA had a hard time catching up from start to finish the Lithuanian didn't let the USA make a lead at all,

[...]
Kidding aside. China roster seems very week compared before when they a lot of sharp shooters and 7 footers.
That's definitely not their best roster but I read that their head coach doesn't speak their language so that may have contributed to the team's poor performance in this WC. I think he's great but language barrier is usually a huge factor and I blame whoever is in charge of their basketball program for hiring Dordevic in the first place.

Additionally, I think that China had an Injury and likely it contributed to the worst performance of China aswell Kyle Anderson surely got great stats in that game but because the Philippines exploded their points and spread the scores for the Philippine team for sure Jordan Clarkson has many buckets made, while the team was heated up in the game while China just don't know what are they going to do with the game for sure,

To be honest, I was surprised that America lost.

In Germany, there was a dispute between Dennis Schröder and the team's coach, but they still managed to win.
I think the coach will get a warning.

Yeah that was kind of funny.
For everybody that wants to see it again, here you go: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/julaKb1mzqQ

Our coach is kind of a joke in my eyes, treating the players without respect. Well, as long as we are winning he does something right I guess.

Public opinion in Germany by the way is the coach shouldn't act like this.

Sadly for Spain, they'll be missing the quarter finals. The number 1 team in terms of points just got knocked out by the rank 15 Canadians. I wonder how Canada fare against Slovenians, especially with Doncic on the other side.

The previous ranking doesn’t matter now since Canada roster is far better upgrade that their previou roster since they already recruited young star players from NBA compared their previous roster. Canada is on par with USA or a bit better when we compared their current gameplay.

Slovenia recently lose to Germany while Canada beat Germany on a tune up match recently.

Canada was dominated by Germany twice and came back to win it by 1 point in overtime in the 2nd game. Germany had a 5 point lead with 30 sec to go in this game. Before they dominated Canada like I said.

This Canadian team is strong, but only individually, not as a team. That's why in the last 2 games they had big problems.

Germany now has it's hardest game of the tournament vs Latvia.
Everybody expects them to win, and these are always the most difficult games. Latvia has no pressure, they already achieved more then most people expected from them.
In my eyes this is gonna be a close one, of course I hope though that Germany will dominate. In a couple of days we will know more. The quarterfinals will be lit!

Big win by Germany against Slovenia; I think they are the real deal in this tournament.

The spread was -4.5 in favor of Germany, making them slight favorites, but it turned out to be a massacre as they routed Slovenia.

The final score was 100-71, with Dennis Schröder still leading the scoring for Germany with 24 points. It's a significant statement win, and if I'm not mistaken, they remain undefeated.

They had a slow start yet it became a good game when both teams are already warm enough until they both get hot, and eventually, Germany handed Slovenia its first loss after having four win streaks. I honesly thought that this will be a tight game but it wasn't the case because Germany dominated Slovenia and ended in a 29 point game.

So now, Schroder and Germany will now proceed to the quarterfinals of this tournament and yes, still an undefeated. Things are getting pretty interested folks and congratulations to all who wagered in favor of the Germany.

Yup, slow start but when Germany starts to fire up we see the outcome, the win over Slovenia will add up confidence moving forward
to the quarterfinals.

It's interesting how the teams are playing and how upset is happening. Anyone's game is for those who got qualified to move up to the next round.

Looking to see both US and Canada to make it to the finals, still far but we really don't know who will take that final spot.

The quarter finals is almost here, and I can't really say which team is obviously better or not. I can't really say USA because they lost to Brazil twice not really that long ago, obviously not the same team as we all know because that was NBA period and all that but still, it happened.

I think USA will do fine as everyone knows and expected but I can't really say that it will be easy for them to get it, someone else might. I hate tournaments like this, there is no clear favorite, some people may claim that there is, but there is really not, not to me at least. I still think that it is anyone game and there are at least 4 teams that I think could end up getting it. Lets see how it happens but I am not going to continue to bet from now on.

This team is not the team that lost to Brazil, wildly different team.  With that being said Lithuania has the team that can beat the US.  With no real big man any team that runs out a large team can use that to theor advantage and they did. This team is small and plays small.  It showed on the rebound advantage.  Will see how they rebound after this.

Well, you won't see player making 5 3-pointers in a row every day, Clarkson was on fire today. It's nice to see hosts ending on a high note and finally taking win. And congrats to Japan and South Sudan for taking spot in 2024 Paris Olympics.
He's really lit and on fire together with the other local players like Abandon. I've just read recently that Philippines is going to play with the Olympic Qualifying tournament. That means that the hope and dream for Olympics isn't dead yet. They have to win the Olympic qualifying tournament for which they're going to participate. I know that it's going to be hard but maybe from there, they can give all their best shots. While Bahamas is already qualified for the Olympics and doesn't have to go through with the Olympic qualifying tournament, their team is where probably Klay Thompson is going to play with. And for Japan's growth in basketball, without even Rui Hachimura but only Yuta and one localized player, they are really a strong team and congrats to them as well.

I think this guy Abando should have played more minutes in the FIBA, I mean he is so electrifying that it could affect his team mates and that's what happen here. He really should have but the coach didn't give him that much playing time on their first matches. If he was just given a lot of playing time, I am sure that the chemistry of him and JC would have been great. He's just the recent MVP of KBL and that's why he's got a title and proved it to the world. Japan? Maybe you mean China, mate.  Grin

Lithuania won against USA and every fan has their own other team to support but don't forget that Gilas is qualified for the Olympic Qualifying tournament.

Spain versus Canada was the most exciting. Spain rallied in the 2nd quarter trying to get away from Canada but damn, SGA and Brooks are in their zone in the last minutes of the 4th quarter where they got their first lead. The last 43 seconds is where the real fight begins and I thought the last shot of Spain was going to sink in, unlucky.
Canada did not cover the spread, lucky are those who just took the money line.

Canada edging Spain is really expected, though I thought the spread would be huge. I tried betting for the money line on Canada but failed to get the funds on time. SGA just gets basket after basket in the third and fourth quarter which helped team Canada close the gap before sealing the deal. 14 out of 16 free throws is something impressive, especially in a game wherein another superstar is expected to carry the game.

Sadly for Spain, they'll be missing the quarter finals. The number 1 team in terms of points just got knocked out by the rank 15 Canadians. I wonder how Canada fare against Slovenians, especially with Doncic on the other side.
