A 24-4 run by the Philippines, with Jordan Clarkson delivering a remarkable performance featuring four consecutive three-pointers! The Philippines is now leading by 20 points, and it certainly looks like they are on track to win this game. Clarkson's exceptional performance has played a significant role in this lead, and it's an exciting turn of events for the team and its fans.

edit, it's 5 consecutive now.
A first win that we will forever cherish and I’d hope that this is not our last as many are already looking for the next FIBA for team Philippines. I’m sure this win will boost our standing in the World Ranking. Also heard the news about the coach of Philippines leaving the team as he received hated from the Filipinos. Anyway, other teams are already heading to the Philippines for the quarter finals, its good to see more great teams playing their hearts out, I’m betting to see Canada and USA in the finals.

Crazy game! This is what the Philippines have wanted, but it only happened in their last game when it wasn't that necessary. JC is on fire, and it was a bad decision by China not to double-team him. We know that JC is a streaky shooter, and now he will be unstoppable. I don't think China will be able to mount a big comeback in the 4th quarter.
Finally, a win from the Philippines and I think JC can really put this show on their previous games unfortunately, he was guarded extremely during those games. Having this lead against China can be big boost especially that the Asian game will also take place this Month in China, I’d hope to see these player again to have a better chemistry.

This World Cup is extremely exciting and enjoyable in my opinion. I can't wait for tomorrow's games. I actually lost my bet on Canada, but it was an amazing surprise. Groups I and L are amazing to watch especially. Possibly the biggest surprise is Latvia but as they defeated my country horribly in the World Cup Qualifiers, I knew their potential. Even without Porzingis, they are amazing. Kudos to them. For tomorrow, I see a very interesting odds. Spain 2.96. I don't think it will be a that much of an easy game for Canada. I will bet on Spain.

Well, that's a nice win and yes deserved win. It's what we're waiting for and at least a host country that has won at least 1 game. While the nation is celebrating for this win. The fact is that they're no longer qualified to 2024 Paris Olympics. And what's a good news not for us but for South Sudan, they're going to the 2024 Paris Olympics. A young country, and just a few years that became member of FIBA is now qualified for the Olympics. Good job to them.

Congratulations to the Philippines, finally some excitement and a well deserved win.
After the 3rd quarter I bet my small stake weekly bonus on them -19,5 points and 15 seconds before the end this looked bad with the Philippines only leading by 17 points.

Then a 2 point dunk with 10sec to go, steal with 5sec to go, a missed 3 with 1sec to go and a tip in with the buzzer made my bet win, what a final stretch for this instead of dribbling the clock out. Guess politics have had an influence on this, Philippines wanted to make it a 20 point statement win.  Grin

Congratulations to your win. We do take seriously fight against China because sports is the only place we can win against them.  Cheesy

Kidding aside. China roster seems very week compared before when they a lot of sharp shooters and 7 footers. What quarter do you bet for your that -19.5 and what odds you manage to scoop with that win?

Thanks buddy.
At the end of the 3rd, on break. They were up 22 so just don't lose the last quarter by 2 and it wins. So it wasn't that risky, especially looking at how they performed in the 3rd quarter. Odds were basically normal handicap odds of 1,9 .

Anyway, kind of a miracle final seconds for this one. Scoring twice in 10 seconds, even though you could run out the clock, is quite unusual. I wonder why that happened . But happy it did so I won't question it, haha.

Exited for tomorrows big games now, Germany vs Slovenia, USA vs Lithuania, Spain vs Canada. Are resl treat for all basketball lovers!

That was a risky bet, my friend. However, as fortunate as JC was, I believe luck was on your side too, as the final sequence favored the Philippines. The last-second shot that saved you came just one second before the buzzer sounded. It's undoubtedly a significant victory for the Philippines, given their previous struggles in games. This one serves as a testament that they are a strong team capable of winning when they play cohesively. JC had his best game in the FIBA so far, so I'm sure he'll be thrilled as he return to Utah to continue training with his NBA team.

China did what they had to do; they had the height advantage, but JC was just lucky that his 3-point shots sank in. Just imagine, five consecutive 3-pointers; he was unstoppable at that point and had already demoralized China in the 4th quarter. It's difficult to come back from such a huge deficit with only 10 minutes remaining, especially against a home team with strong support from the crowd.

I also noticed that their coach had already announced that he will step down from his coaching job after the game. It's great that he had a win in his last game as a coach. Anyway, congratulations to the winners! The Philippines finally had a very convincing win.

It has been an entertaining game so far, and both teams seem to have a good understanding of each other's strategies. The first half has concluded with China holding a one-point lead. In this tournament, the Philippines tends to struggle in the second half, but they can't afford that now if they want to secure a win in this competition. The Philippines' persistent issue with three-point shooting seems to persist, but fortunately, China is also struggling in this regard. However, it's worth noting that China's free throw performance is significantly better than the Philippines', so the home team needs to address this aspect as well.
Gilas have the advantage over China unfortunately, they are not using it well and we are down.
The fans should energized the team so they can go all out, this is their last game and I'd hope that they can finally get the win or else Filipinos will surely bashed the whole coaching staff again. Looking forward for the quarter finals with the top teams here in our country, can't wait to see other teams too.

A good start for the Philippines, currently leading by 7 points and keeping China scoreless. This could be the night they secure their first win as they are currently 0-3. I hope the Philippines can finally achieve victory tonight; it's much needed to reduce criticism, especially as the host country, and being winless so far.

Best of luck to the Philippines in securing this final win!

Yes, they should be fighting here, at least get one win and that's it and bury this as a learning experience for the team. Slight lead for them at the half. And it should boost their confidence here.

The Filipino fans are still supporting Gilas no matter what, even if they boo their own coach which is very weird. I guess someone has to be blame though, and usually it is the coach.

Latvia! Wow! Imagine that, defeating the EuroBasket champions Spain. It's amazing and I bet they are celebrating today but they cannot relax just yet because their next stop is Brazil which defeated Canada.
Really a wow scene that they've made on this World Cup. But that's what it is, champions are unbeatable but they have proven themselves once. It is that Latvia was stronger on them on that match and won against them.

Good luck on their next match, Canada is also strong but they've beaten a strong opponent so anything is possible.

No NBA players and yet they made an upset. Probably one of the biggest upsets.
This World Cup has been full of upsets and unexpected wins or maybe we're just belittling and expecting a lot from the known and unknown teams.

It's unbeleavable that nobody isn't talking about today's games... Fun things started and we have some upsets. I already said that Latvia and Slovenia looks understimated too much, so, their wins didn't surprised me that much. But what Brazil did against Canada is huge upset.
So happy not just about Lithuania win, but also how confident we played against elite team Greece, it was difficult to predict that we will win by 25 points. We're in 1/4 final already, don't want to get hyped too much, but I think we are capable to beat USA, after I saw how Montenegro played against them. Monenegro forced USA to play serious until very end. And Montengro managed to do it with 22 turnovers.
Italy made another upset by beating Serbia. At one moment it already looked that Serbia will run away, they already had 16 points lead. But Italy made comeback with amazing Fontechio performance (30 points). There was some chaos in the end, but ot's typical thing for Pozzecco team
Latvia - win against current World Champions is serious statement. And they done it without injured Bertans!
Puerto Rico win against Dominican Republic probably can be counted as upset too. Seems that both teams forgot about defense, scored 199 points combined. This time 39 points of KAT wasn't enough for a win.
Brazil win against Canada probably is biggest upset in tournament so far. And Brazil did it basically without 3-pointers. So, Canada is vulnerable too. Now situation in this group before last round looks crazy interesting with all 4 teams having 3 wins.

Congrats to your LTU team, it was as easy as expected but you always have to win it first, even though it looks easy on paper.
Brazil surely was the upset of the tournament. Betting on them would have paid you at least 14:1 on a good site, that's a decent payday I guess.
Anyway, now the group situation is insane. Spain or Canada play for 1 spot, just as Brazil and Latvia, who would have thought. So Spain or Canada is out, big surprise.

For me this is very interesting to see as well as this group brings the next opponent of team Germany in the quarterfinals. Don't know who I want them to face actually, first it was between Spain and Canada, which we can beat both, but now it's basically all 4 teams possible. If we beat Slovenia, Spain wins we play Latvia or Brazil, if Canada wins and Brazil wins we play Canada, if Canada wins and Latvia wins we get Spain.

And more scenarios if we lose, so many things to look at, hahahah.
If you managed to get Brazil at those odds then congratulations, those are expected for taking down the heavy favorites to win and possibly be in the finals with so many NBA players  being in their roster.
Didn't know Wemby was playing in this tournament until checking out the last few posts on this thread.
With Gobert not doing so good France needs somebody with his stature to take his place in their line-up if they want to advance out of these group stage games.
Watching the Finland vs Venezuela match and they were hanging around during the third quarter but it looks like Finland are finally pulling away from the heavy underdogs now. Same with South Sudan, but the difference is they were always ontop of their game against Angola as it is now half time in their match being up 15pts.

I got so sleepy last night with medicines.  Cry Thank you for the updates though.

2 bets won for me.
Yes, that is true. The odds are underestimating the Slovenians too far. Luka Doncic is the rising star of the NBA and he cannot be underestimated too. I think they weighed it with how many NBA players are there in one team which is wrong. Slovenians are damn strong. With the help of Mike Tobey dominating the rebounds, Luka found his help and of course their other roleplayers.

Lithuania won too. Yes! Just like I thought, Greece isn't really strong. It's just that their group consists of two weaker teams that's why they are in the 2nd round. Man, I should've maximized it to -7.5 and take a higher profit. But it's okay a win is still a win.

I wonder what France look like if Wembanyama played. The Spurs decided to excuse him from the national team for further development. But he and Gobert will have their chance to team up and get back their glory in the 2024 Paris Olympics. That will be the biggest basketball event and at the same time, their nation is the host. Should be fun to watch.
Maybe a lot has changed as they got more big man on this one and more likely have taken some wins. But we don't know, even Spain the number one team has been beaten by Latvia. This means that this FIBA is really full of surprises and a lot of teams that have come to be expected perform at their best are not guarantee of a win. It's just sad that our national team hasn't taken any win and if they lose to China this Saturday, our team is gonna be part of history. Yeah, but very bad history of being a team of not having any win as a host country.
