Yeah, I watch this match and imagine that you lose everything of your career with this seasonal tournament that doesn’t pay you the same fees when he is on the normal league.
I think there’s still a chance for him if he can find a donor but I doubt that he can still play the same with this kind of injury sustain internally.
That's shocking, especially considering that accident looked innocent and probably most of athletes had such moments many times in their career. I just correct you a bit - players in national teams don't get paid at all.

This is just shocking. Boriša Simanić is just 25 years old and losing a kidney means an end to his career. He won't be able to train hard with just one remaining kidney and therefore maybe forced to retire from active sports.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RcABOBsuzbQFor me it looks very intentional and the South Sudan player (Nuni Omot) seems to be targeting Simanić with his elbow. And even after all this, FIBA hasn't taken any action against Omot. Or better, Omot can be asked to donate one of his kidney's to Simanić.
Ouch! That's just too much. He was not ready for the hit and maybe that is why it ended up so bad.
Obviously intentional, there's no way the offense is just making space for himself. You push a bit, not use force to get some space. He could donate, that's true but that will still depend if his kidney is compatible.
I got curious. What did the referee call after that hit? Was he thrown out of the game afterward? I think this is the first time I've heard of such bad injury during FIBA or even at the Olympics. Most of the time they are just minor ones.
