I agree. Kissing someone in the lips can't be interpreted as giving appreciation for the good performance. IMO, he just misuses the opportunity for his own benefit. And I am quite surprised with the response from him. Luis Rubiales came out in the open and announced that he has no intention to resign. BTW, now there is another controversy that is coming up. A video recording form the final match has emerged, in which the Spanish coach (Jorge Vilda) is seen grabbing the breast of one of the female non-playing staff. Here are more details on this:

I guess it depends on the culture and the two people involved really.

At the end of the day if he and she are OK with what happened, then nothing should be done really.

I honestly don't see what the big deal is. It's just a kiss while celebrating being the world champions.

Can't believe that the whole championship is being ignored and people are focusing on a one second kiss.

Thankful that what was done by the president of Spanish football is being investigated because this is not an attitude or action that should be done for whatever reason even though their culture considers kissing on the lips normal but should not be done during official events because it would be a scandal.
The Spanish women's football players have also expressed their attitude towards the case and they have also received support from the English national team through the statement of their national team captain Leah Williamson that such actions must be against that attitude.
Luis Rubiales refuses to quit as a gesture of power and considers himself untouchable, and reportedly receiving a big salary from his position will certainly make him reluctant to quit because it means losing both power and income.

It should not be like a leader giving appreciation to players who have made their country proud, if this incident were carried out in my country it would be fatal and could tarnish the good name of a leader, but every country has its own culture. And as a leader, you should think before you act or speak so that it doesn't become a big problem and is considered bad in the eyes of society.

The Spanish president Luis Rabiales have defended himself against critics on social media saying he's wrong for kissing Jenni Hermoso on the lip, live on TV during Spain's Women's World Cup trophy celebrations, according to the news it is said that he's hit back with a defense and also trying to set things right and saying those taking the incident too seriously are idiots.
Most of the viewers where furious and claimed that what he did was inappropriate to put his hand on the 33 years old attacker before kissing her on the lips and his response to Radio Marca was, "The kiss with Jenni? There are idiots everywhere. When two people have an insignificant show of affection, we cannot pay attention to idiocy. We are champions, and with that, I stay."
Well I think a lot of viewers are not going to be pleased about that statem ent and there would be questions in the air over whether there's been a previous secret affair between both involved ìn the act, well left for me i think he got carried away by their victory but calling viewers idiots is not professional.

Actually the kissing is just the way of showing the affection towards others,So the president just showed his way of affection towards the Jenni. The criticism on a president is the very common one,it's not a different to the Spain president. The president had encouraged the players by showing the affection,Since he is the president the incident was get into the Sky.The only mistake done by the president is he should not say the people who take this incident serious as Idiot.Because he was in big position should take care with the words.

If he had done it to all the players, I might even accept that kind of argument.
But why did you only do it with one player?

He might even have done it without any malice. But attitude itself is inadequate. So he just has to own up to the mistake and be humble about leaving. If he had already done so, he would certainly have a lot less trouble.

On the other hand, he also criticized the lady player, because he did not make a direct and objective statement on the subject. He seems to be waiting for others to act, and I don't agree with that either.
Exactly if he had done it to even two or three players it woud had been understandable though i'm not saying he did it intentionally, because i know how emotional people could get and sometimes it makes them react in certain ways and do the unexpectable, but i expected him to show some remorse and apologise for his actions instead he replied to his saying those taking the incident seriously are idiots, which is very unprofessional and would even end up making it a serious case in the end.
I know that might be a way of showing affection to the players but he singled out just one partical player to show his affection to even without the concept of the player, didn't apologise afterwards and not been remorseful instead abused fans for complaining, well according to the news there is a displinary team investigating on the matter and if found guilty he could be penalised for his action.

Totally agree!
Even if they were best friends or lovers, that behavior was not appropriate, given the situation they were in.

Let's see what will happen. For now, the president of the Spanish federation has already informed that he will not resign.

He (Luis Rubiales) can say whatever he want. But the decision has been taken. The Spanish government has made it clear that they will be initiating legal proceedings against him and he will be asked to resign. And here is the big news:

https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/66621772

Jenni Hermoso made it clear that the kiss was made without her permission or consent. A statement signed by all the 23 players from the world cup squad (including Hermoso) says that consent was not given. At the same time, FIFA has also initiated disciplinary action as per Article 13.

This same issue was discussed here some few pages back, most of us saw it as nothing though, but I think I am personally glad that fifa is taking up the matter now, atleast, this will teach the man a lesson and deter others from following in the same footprint.

Well, this kiss thing has escalated recently, as FIFA just opened an investigation about it:

FIFA’s Disciplinary Committee will investigate whether Spanish soccer federation president Luis Rubiales violated its disciplinary code.

Personally, I don't know what the big deal is. People from Spain are known to be a very "touchy" culture, and I don't think Jenni Hermoso in particular felt bad in any way, it's just external people reacting to the Spanish culture.

This is what Jenni said about it:

Quote from: Jenni Hermoso
"The ‘presi’ and I have a great relationship, his behavior with all of us has always been 10 (out of 10) and this was a natural gesture of affection and gratitude," she was quoted as saying.

If the people involved in this are fine with it, there's nothing to be done really. No harm, no foul.

People love to get upset for others, even when the others are fine living their life.

They should focus on the sport, and the fact that Spain is the world champion, not on this silly nonsense. Exactly as she said:

Quote from: Jenni Hermoso
I’m a world champion, and that’s what matters.

Spain are the reigning champions of the FIFA women's world  cup 2023. They deserved it, putting enough energy to make it to the final and winning their opponents. Everyone has their various opinions concerning the kiss saga circulating round. Kissing is a bad signal channel to some religious individuals who were present live and most people dragged him online. We contributes both positive and negative energy towards the incidents that happen. I'm thinking out of joy, he kissed the female player, ofcourse it doesn't attract any penalty, he's the president and do what pleases, it's common in the present age of football.

From the footage, I think the Spanish football president Luis Rabiales didn't intentionally kiss the female player for any unholy reason. Moments like winning the FIFA World Cup is something that so many people had worked very hard for but didn't achieve it at the end so it's always comes with different emotional feelings when one finally achieve that feat making the people involved to publicly do things that might not be pleasing to the general public.
The Spanish football president has publicly apologized for his behavior during that celebration and has also said his intentions were pure. Football is one of the sports that can actually make people emotions get the better of them
I agree with you. It seems to me that if I were in his place, I could do something similar because of my great emotions, sorry for writing this, but it's true. I'm not going to justify it. I also think that if this incident in football happened 30 years ago, no one would even say anything. The protection of women from men today has reached a high level in society and of course such an unpleasant case will be condemned, especially by women. I hope we don't see situations like this again in women's football.

This case was caught on camera, but I think there are a lot of similar cases in big sports around the world that are not caught in video and not widely publicized. Including the victim herself is afraid to talk about it.

It was actually a tight and highly contested finals by two most worthy teams of this tournament. England had a better chance at the beginning of the match to hold it strong but it later turned against them when the Spanish female team took the lead. It was never a dull moment watching the female play and Spain has joined the record of countries lifting the men and female FIFA world like Brazil.

In general, the gap between different teams have narrowed down, both in men's game and in women's game. Even during the 2022 FIFA World Cup, the matches were closely fought. Final was an exception, as Argentina dominated the first 80 minutes of the match and France came back to the game only as a result of goals from Kylian Mbappé. And in this tournament, there were very few one-sided matches. UEFA and CONMEBOL teams used to dominate the world cup, but that is no longer the case now as AFC-CAF teams have closed the gap.

Things have really changed in football and the female side particularly. Like in the past Nigeria didn't have astonishing performance in the world stage beating Australia while england had a narrow win over them. I think what has contributed this positive change that have given fans something to relish on is the soccer tourism if I may call it that because we have some players who are club mate in Europe and America just like it is in the male side unlike when it was dominated by one club side.

It is truly good to see matches like this where there are no matches that are actually one-sided. I mean to be honest there are going to be some matches that will definitely be one-sided. Nothing can be done about that. But if we see the final match of the tournament being one-sided, then it is going to be definitely something that will not be able to hold the interest of people. I definitely liked to see both the final of the men’s game and also the women’s game.

But the thing is after watching and following men’s football for so many years, I actually do not find myself liking women’s football. It is simply not as good. As inside in the men’s final, Argentina was dominating for 80 minutes. And right after that things change to because of the individual brilliance of Mbappé. In women’s football, things change because of stupid and dumb plays.

England Women's defenders were in disarray for a while. But the Spain women's team did a lot of attacking which was successful and the hard working players I saw were Spain's defenders and midfielders. The Spain women's team players did not perform well in the beginning after a long effort and the Spain fans never realized that they could win the world cup. England women's players were favorites from the start but it was their failure to come up short against Spain.

Finally, Spain won the Women's World Cup by defeating England in the final match of the 2023 Women's World Cup. Spain beat England by one goal in a thrilling match. The two teams fought hard and Spain won the match 1-0. When Spain went ahead with Carmona's goal in the 29th minute of the game, England could not repay that goal in any way. England had a chance to take the lead in the first 15 minutes but unfortunately England's shot deflected off the goal post, denying England the opportunity to score. After that, England could not create much opportunity against Spain. Spain's goal difference to England could have been 2-0 as the referee awarded a penalty for handing an England player inside the D box but the England goalkeeper made a brilliant save. No other team was able to score after that, resulting in Spain 2023 World Cup champions.

Well finally we have a winner here after going through a long struggle overall Spain really dominates even though England can follow their play style unfortunately the Spain's defense is strong enough to hold all the attacks. This is the first time Spain champion who was previously not considered to have a chance to win it while England is a finalist in the semi -finals in the previous tournament in 2019 that's why England is a little favored in the final even though in the end they lost.
