BFL still doesn't have a confirmed working ASIC device.

They just bought time with all this threads and flames at forum.

If you have requested a refund for a pre-order and have not received a timely response, please consider filing a complaint with the FTC:

I found this letter interesting.  BF Labs registration report to the State of Missouri is past due, and they will lose their ability legally to conduct business in the state if it is not filed by May 4th, 2013.  It's the second document on this page:
https://www.sos.mo.gov/BusinessEntity/soskb/Filings.asp?3402461
BFL has been doing business in Leawood, Kansas for many months now.

...Not that I believe they aren't scamming everyone.

This is a fact. They are in a new remodeled location of which as of to this day a permit was NEVER filed to do all the extensive changes that has been documented on both forums.

I guess we could thank them for fucking their beloved local economy by not paying the fee, but with the money saved they'll be able to honor the $140,000 USD, and climbing since it's pegged to BTC, to charity much easier.

http://buildingcodes.jocogov.org/

Nary a permit! Without a permit, the city has no idea of what's going on in the building. At least they're in the same boat as BFL's customers.

What do you guys make here?

Short of giving you a quarter so that you can buy a clue, we make vaporware that mines virtual currency for our anonymous investors.

Are you incorporated?

Yes. In Wyoming.

Can we speak with the president of the company?

Sure, as soon as he gets back from the 7-11 buying a lott... a lott... a lot of Pepsi, for we're having a party later this afternoon, entertaining a miner from outta state.

What's in all those boxes?

Parts being returned, in fact a swarm of locust will be here any time now to pick them up to bring them to the post office.

What the heck is that?

You never seen a chicken before?

No, next to the chicken?

A box of fans.

What's it used for?

You truly don't have a clue, do you?

What are those big machines over there?

Props.

I'm afraid that I'm goin' have to...

Here's an envelop.

...say that everything looks pretty legit. Have a nice day, Josh.

I don't even care anymore and assume my BTC spent on the SC Single I ordered went the way of pirate@40 and Hashking but that little skit killed me. Thanks for the laugh Grin

I just shipped you a glass of water. You totally have it, but it's still in my house. I haven't actually even filled the water in the glass yet, but I shipped it to you - as of last year in fact.

should a BFL employee taking the pic be considered valid evidence of a hashrate?
I don't see why not. I mean, as far as hashrate is concerned I could have just as easily taken a picture of my own screen.

Luke may i ask what is BFL shipping right now? Also they shipped to them? How can someone ship something they own to them? Logic fail. I will go and ship myself a glass of water now.

I wonder how long the board redesign and remanufacture is going to take after figuring out they need more chips per to meet hashrate guarantees.
If I were them, then from the viewpoint of ("need to meet a hash rate target by any means available") I would choose to ship extra single-chip boards. Re-designing is a burdensome process with no guarantee of timely success.
Unfortunately, that's not the product people purchased and as such they should be then offered a refund instead.
They can get a refund ... they can just ask for it.

A friend of mine spent 2800 BTC on BFL orders. Something tells me they're not going to give him a refund.

yeah sure they wont.. yeah sure...

at least with KickStarter many people get refunds when things go south..  but BFL would of been rejected by kickstarter last summer and probably still couldn't convince them now to allow one with the crap proof they have shown

People have received refunds ... sometimes fast sometimes slow.

Some people may have received refunds. I did not receive a refund from BFL and I did not receive a refund from bASIC. I clearly do not belong to the group of people getting refunds!

In the bASIC case, I received the promise that I will receive a refund, at least. In the BFL case there was no answer at all. In both cases I expect the money to be lost.

It says enough when all you have is ad hominem and no logical arguments.
here is a logical argument:   who took the picture that is accepted as the "hashrate" for this device?
Josh did, nobody's trying to hide or deny that.

should a BFL employee taking a pic [in KC] be considered valid evidence of a [shipped] hashrate?
I don't see why not.

I had absolutely no problems getting a refund.  Though I was only in the queue for 2 weeks.  Paid with BTC... refunded in USD via paypal.  I was completely fine with that arrangement (though 1 BTC ~= $42 at the time).

Anyway... I found them quick and courteous and the email response wasn't a canned response but a personal email.  Frankly I found the refunding process very professional (unlike the ordering process --- no email confirmation... no way of easily checking status).

I put in the refund request on a Saturday I think.  The following monday or tuesday I had been refunded.

PayPal is sending you your refund. Thank you for understanding the difference in the value of bitcoins. We look forward to doing business with you again in the future.

I negotiated with my wife to order 2 Avalon's if I got a refund from BFL... so ... the choice was pretty easy (though I am pretty much tapped out as far as BTC savings goes).

The whole deal with bitcoin is that you shouldn't invest more than you feel comfortable losing.  If you feel like gambling that BFL will produce... let it ride.... if not... getting USD back is pretty darned painless.

you should be able to sell your order on ebay x2 what you paid for it also "The whole deal with bitcoin is that you shouldn't invest more than you feel comfortable losing"  all mining -- gold - bitcoin is risky --- can be high rewards -- and high losses
