At my place, all food prices are still normal except for transportation, because the regulation regarding reducing the number of passengers makes the price go up, well we realize this is a pandemic so when they try to improve their economy by increasing prices according to government recommendations, I think it's only natural as long as the increase is not too high maybe it will be fine as so far there have been no complaints about the price increase in any of the sectors.
that is sad actually, cuz most of the farmers are having a difficult time wth this current pandemic. they can't distribute the comodities properly and no one buys their stuff with the insane amount of price. farmers are angry and destorying all their crops. on most of the 3rd world country, they are suffered of that. it might be continues as long as covid is exist
Due to the wide spread of Corona virus (covid-19) around the world, the economies of all the affected countries crumbled to the ground the rate of unemployments increased massively, companies were letting go of their best workers because they can't pay someone who won't be coming to work, even the food stuff in market doubled, although over here it tripled, e.g you were buying an apple for $1 well right now it costs $3, its really sad, how the cost of living just increased all of a sudden, I only hope that after this everything will go back to normal.
This year is the most exceedingly terrible I actually spend, seriously we lost a bunches of superstars, and now its Coronavirus who sway awful on our general public.
Everything has become costly because of the absence of flexibly and expanding interest. In my nation, the cost of food is twofold than a year ago.
Anyway, I'm hoping it's just temporary, and it'll be normal next year.
And thats we are waiting to be come normal again next year but ill think that was not easily be coming normal because it was needed to be have a vaccine for corona virus and only few country are only have a vaccine and the other country are always suffered against this virus. So all we need as of now is to pray for our god that this pandemic will going to end and believing ourselves to survive even do it was hard for us must better to plant more vegetable if we have a vacant place in our house. When i have time i go to local market to check prices
Vegetable prices doubled
Fruit prices doubled
Meat prices around 30% increase
Grain products around 20% increase
...
And my country is a exporter of food products

We tried to ban exports of grain ,but stupid EU intervened...
When the pandemic comes all food prices are getting higher. Almost of them are are 20% to 30% high. Because the stock of food are are getting low that why the price are getting higher but not double the price. This pandemic cause it that why all food and other products the price are so high. Vegetable prices doubled
Fruit prices doubled
Meat prices around 30% increase
Grain products around 20% increase
...
And my country is a exporter of food products

Many people are complaining that covid-19 has make the price of things go up in the market such like food items increased in the market. But in my country food items remain the same as usual nothing like price double up because our government really put a lot of infrastructure on ground to improve the agricultural sectors in the country before corona virus came up that make the government to pronounce lockdown all over the country to protect people from the spread of the virus.
Where is your country located? Its exaggerated that the price of commodities in your country remains the same even there is a pandemic. Unless you did not know what is happening to the outside world or you are not aware for the previous price of the food. Well, if that so then your country is very lucky because almost all coutries around the globe are suffering from inflation.

I am quite grateful that my country has not experienced an increase in the price of basic necessities, and I have received assistance from the government because of Covit-19, in my opinion, the most important thing to survive this pandemic is the availability of basic foodstuffs. the need and stability of the selling price, due to the decline in people's purchasing power due to work constraints, because some companies or factories do not operate and there have been many dismissals, therefore the government must be ready to provide good solutions for its citizens, because their (government) readiness is the key to survival live in this difficult situation.
We have the same issue in my country. But the reason is different. USD price increased because of some major economical issues. (Not related with the pandemic) And since many food sources are imported from abroad, market prices increased. So pity...
This is alarming during this Pandemic it's hard to earn a living and we must be very careful on what to buy. Here in our country we do support local products and good mostly this Pandemic as help for our countrymen as well it's more cheaper that shipped from other countries product. Their is a need to produced locally now to help the workers and built a system wherein we will be able to help the countrymem who needs it the most, but sometimes locally product we're higher in price but we need to support them and help them during these Pandemic to earn a living. When it comes to food prices, there are big changes not only in the top food industry but also in the small business foods. Because of the economy that been shutdown for many months, the inflation goes up and there are many businesses that been force to close down because of the community quarantine. I do not know on how many years that our economy will become good like before but I am sure that it will really take a long period of time.
I'm speaking from Bangladesh. The situation is the same in my country. Paddy prices are rising by 50%. The price of vegetables is more than double. Fruit price are rising by 40%. Everything is more expensive because of covid-19.
I am not from that area, but I would assume that Bangladesh imports most of the food stuff (since they have a huge population restricted to a small area). And with travel restrictions in place, moving goods from one place to another costs more. On top of that, there is a bigger chance of agricultural produce and foodstuff getting damaged, as a result of delays in transport.

Yes, all these traders are usually taking advantage of the opportunity people are in crisis because of the virus and many are not able to buy food at high prices many poor people are suffering i think the government system is weak. If the government takes the right steps the high prices of food items will not increase traders will not be able to raise prices as much they want to cover their losses.
At least in my country (India) the government took steps to prevent this. There were some traders who did hoarding early on. But the authorities raided those shops and charged the shopkeepers with severe terms. Within a couple of days, the prices came back to the previous level. It has been 6-7 months, and the prices still remain at the pre-COVID level.
Yes, we also have experienced that in our country on double pricing on foods and other stuff needed on daily basis and i believed it's because of the pandemic we are experiencing right now. The demand and supply got into us, so expectation is really high for foods to go high. This global pandemic really caught us and the only way to end this is the vaccine and get back our economy back to where it belongs.
Maybe the price of the food may become double but it depends on the government on how they handle it, it is really hard to make everything in balance right now, because we are in a state of healt calamity because of the pandemic but there are always a way so we need to obey every single announcement from the government or good.

Yes, same here in our country. And I think some merchants are taking advantage with the price and the people really suffered especially the poorest of the poor. I hope now that some borders are slowly opening, the prices of foods and other essentials will be lower down.
That is mostly the case,Merchants are taking advantage of the current situation, their reason is whether their investment with their products was also high or they just increase the price to take back their losses during the lockdown period. This is the main scenario in most country that instead of helping each other during this time, they keep on taking advantage for the sake of making a profit.
Not only in your country experience about the double prices of the foods Ill think any of country are in the same problem in this pandemic situation. Even don in my country the price of the foods are we problem as of now even do in the pandemic situation they still increase the price of foods. But not all market or any store doing that there are few of them also they low the price of foods for helping country to get a low price of foods. And we hope this pandemic well end so that we can go back to our job.
The disparity between CPI and what people actually pay for things they use most makes it difficult to assess the true inflation in the economy. The government considers the CPI to be the "official" inflation number, but I don't think it does a particularly good job measuring the items the middle and lower class buy the most out of necessity.
