The way activity is calculated:
The activity number is determined in this way:
time = number of two-week periods in which you've posted since your registration
activity = min(time * 14, posts)
time = number of two-week periods in which you've posted since your registration
activity = min(time * 14, posts)
Probably a dumb question, however:
what is "min"
and is it Min * ((time*14)*posts)?

No, should be min(time * 14, posts) as correctly written above in the post you quoted. Min stands for minimum function. It takes two values and returns the lesser of them. For example, min(3, 5) returns 3 (since 3 < 5)

I think it's slightly more than a month seeing as you only get 14 activity per two weeks, but it doesn't really matter anyway.
I don't think respect is derived from activity. There are other signature deals that require no activity: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/overview-of-signature-ad-campaigns-333916
This system is kind of like foreskin because you can live without it.
It doesn't really keep out the bad stuff like syphilis, it just helps keep sand from getting in the tip.

Suggestion: rename "Bitcoin-Qt core developer" to "Bitcoin Core developer". It's not just the GUI, it's also bitcoind, and as of 0.9, it's being rebranded Bitcoin Core.
