Sorry to necro, but I have this offer (100$ credits) but it's expiring this month (i.e. in 8 days). Can anyone give me advice on what's the best way I can maximize profit using this? Thanks.

so, the  rumours of AWS cracking down on those who setup multiple accounts were just rumours then?

It worked for me back on the 14 or 15th. But it looks like they stopped doing it now.

Does anyone have any clue on how to CPU mine on these? I've followed all kinds of instructions and nothing seems to work. I followed these instructions but for some reason it wouldn't launch cgminer. Also, I tried with Windows Server 2012 and it wouldn't recognize the cpu or gpu
for the GPU to work on the Windows instances you need to install the latest Nvidia drivers for the Grid K520 GPUs (the ones from this URL work fine: http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/64595/en-us), and then access your VM via VNC instead of remote desktop (tightvnc works great and it's free).
You will also need to install the 64-bits Visual C++ 2010 redistributable for cudaminer to work (you can grab these from here: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=14632).

CPU miners should just work right away, I had no issues with any of the instances I launched, either Linux or Windows.

I setup my spot instances, and it racked up my costs at $2.40 per instance, and amazon was only willing to acknowledge ONE of those were  a spot instance. After that they stopped responding to my support requests and charged the credit card that i removed from my account during the dispute (im guessing they store it in their DB). So all in all - ignored me for 2 weeks and charged my anyway lol.

Now there is always the potential i screwed up and made normal instances... but with the two factors of them admitting one wrong doing, and ignoring my support requests i would lean towards i did it right... and even if i did it wrong why ignore me. I was quite polite in my first few replys.... except for the last one i got a bit angry as they are ignoring me lol.

Is it still possible to CPU mine with the EC2 free tier, since they've removed the promo?

I really really don't get this. I got jhprotominer running easily on the crappy free micro instance, but when I begin to launch the spot instances it says the current price is something like 0.80$. When I try to launch one instance at 0.8 or even 1.5€ it just says "price too low, minimum price is 15$".

A few days ago the minimum price was 1.5$ when the spot instance setup page said current prices were also under a dollar. At the time capacity was oversubscribed so I couldn't launch them at that time either.

I wonder where the system is pulling that 15$ minimum price.
