Is there anything I should have tried before I gave up?

If you got the x1 to x16, did you short the presence detection pins?

As I said in my post, I bought the PCIe x16 Extender Cables, not the x1 to x16.

Well if anyone is interested ~90% of the items Cableasurus is selling he's most likely purchasing from 9mart.com.

I've make MANY purchase from 9mart, every single thing I've gotten has worked perfectly

all of the items I'm about to post are $9.00 for 2 of each item and include FREE shipping

2 Lots PCI-E PCIe PCI-Express 1X To 16X Riser Card

http://tinyurl.com/3jaxwkn  $9.00 for 2

or $14.95 for 1 from Cablesaurus ??

2 Lots PCI-E PCIe PCI-Express 4x To 16x Riser Card for 1U/2U Chassis

http://tinyurl.com/3gq8lyw

2 Lots PCI-Express Extension Cable 8x To 16x Riser Card For 1U/2U

or $14.95 for 1 from Cablesaurus ??

http://tinyurl.com/3dcsbw8

or $14.95 for 1 from Cablesaurus ??

2 Lots PCI-E PCI-Express 16x Riser Card Extender Cable 1U 2U

http://tinyurl.com/3t9jmwp

or $12.95 for 1 from Cablesaurus ??

These next items go for 4 (qty) for $9.00

4 lots of SATA To 6 Pins Graphics Power cable Adapter

http://tinyurl.com/3zswask

I just don't see the logic in spending $9.95 for 1 SATA -> 6-Pin PCIe Shielded Adapter Cable from the cableausrus dealer, when the items are the exact same things. Also 9mart just recently had to add watermarks over all their items, I wonder why..... Isn't it strange how similar the graphics are.

Now, I do notice that for and Additional $12 you'll solder a Molex for 12V straight to the card. This service is realistically worth $5, it is worth doing if you're running 4 or more cards on a board but absolutely not worth the +$100 Cablesuarus ( assuming you did popular your mobo w/ 4 pcie-x16 riser w/ molex )is charging. So, do you solder the ribbons to the pcb's got any pics of your operation? Yes he also supports the bitcoin economy by accepting BTC's but that's also what exchanges are for.  As far as shipping from hong Kong is concerned, I live on the East coast ( US ) it has always taken 8 to 10 days and that's with free shipping

Another post on this forum regarding the same subject matter

http://tinyurl.com/3wnuccr

IMO get some more realistic prices, in every imaginable case it would in up costing the consumer less to wait the additional time and not mine at all until than item arrive from hong kong.  Anyone can feel free to PM me for price quote for a molex plug to raiser soldering service.

I bought some PCIe x16 Extender Cables, initially just to improve my cooling situation and then later perhaps to add a fourth card to my Intel based ASUS P6X58D-E motherboard. I spent hours building an aluminum frame and finally setup everything. I tried several times to get the system working but it was unstable. It would run for a couple minutes then hang, even before starting any poclbm processes. None of the PCIe cables were touching each other.

I put everything back the way it was (without the cables) and everything was back to normal. I do overclock my cards, but don't overvolt them. I did not try to lower the clock speeds because that would defeat the purpose. I'm writing this not to complain, the cables were top quality as far as I could tell, but to warn others that it's not a "slam dunk". You may run into issues like I did.

I have a second miner with AMD 890FXA-GD70 motherboard where the cards have a comfortable spacing (air gap) already, without the need for cables.

Is there anything I should have tried before I gave up?

Product suggestion, if you can get something like this for cheap,

http://www.amfeltec.com/products/x4pcie-splitter4.php

An x16 to 16 x1 splitter would be amazing! I'm sure you'd sell hundreds...

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll check into these again and see what I can provide.

That sunon fan is listed at 48V, how does that work with a normal ATX power supply, or am I missing something? (not all that familiar with converting voltage etc)

This:

BTW Cablesaurus, those power, reset, and status led extenders are brilliant. Cool

I'd like to announce 2 new products I'm adding to the site today:

* Motherboard Ethernet Jumper Panel Extenders over CAT5.
I'm really excited about these.
These are power/reset switch extenders which allow you connect jumpers to your motherboard and run an ethernet cable from the module to any desired location for the actual switches.
This is a great product for folks who's miners are in inconvenient to reach locations such as basements, local datacenters, server closets, etc. You will now be able to control power/reset from a more convenient location without having to approach the rig.

Are these up yet?

* PSU Dummy Plugs
Dummy Plugs made to safely allow powering on of 2 or more power supplies without the need for splitter. Especially useful if you're using more than 2 PSU's on one rig.

I'm working on getting pictures together today and these will be posted to the site and the eBay store shortly.

I am late getting this in after getting my orders to Australia. Everything arrived fast and in good condition. Be careful of handling the cables I broke 2 of them being to hard on them when I was trying multiple configs of hardware, thats was the only problem and caused by my impatience.

New 3300W capacity domestic and international watt meters are going up today.

I've also added a wide variety of PSU adapter cables shielded and non shielded, both Molex and SATA -> PCIe 6/8p.

350W 48V power supplies have been added for the 48V 4000RPM 200CFM Sunon fans. Each PSU can power 18 of the Sunon case fans. Check out www.cablesaurus.com for the new items.

hello,

i have a few questions about these cables... would i be able to plug the x1 PCIe -> x1 PCIe entender into a x16 port and still have the same OCing capability? or would that decrease my OC... also, you say that the extensions with the molex cable is for dual GPU cards and systems running more than 4 GPUs... without the molex cable on a 5 GPU system would the power be unstable? or what is the point if all the cards require additional power cables as well?

thank you in advance
I use the 1x cables in my rig and have no difference in oc capacity. All my 5830's run at 950mhz regardless of x1 or x16 bandwidth. Also, I have my main rig with 5x 5830, each pulls about 150w, just make sure that your mother board can handle it. I am using a msi-890fxa-gd65 and it has an extra power connector on the board just for the pcie slots. I had 6 cards at one time but I had to sell off my 1500w psu and now have to use dual 700w. Sad
