without the bitcoin then altcoin will not rise so far. altcoin can continue to soar because it follows the price of their underlying bitcoin who also experienced a price increase is very tremendous.

I don't know about this. Is that even possible? How will I convert my alts into money without converting it to bitcoin? For now, we don't have a way in our country. The only way is alts to btc and then converted into cash. That is why btc is so powerful, in order for alts to be converted into money, they need to be in btc first. IThere should be a way of converting altcoins into money without relying on bitcoin. Otherwise, the topic above will never be possible.

Good question! Nobody can predict the exact future. We are investing in BTC because we are confident that it has potential to grow and maintain good value. Who knows if war takes place and infra structures go broken? We can not imagine what the effect will be like.
Bitcoin is the mother of all crypto currencies. People trust this crypto coin more than any other and found it more potential as compare to all altcoins.

If it will come to an end, definitely, no body is going to trust any other crypto coin. The survival of altcoins depend upon bitcoin somehow because bitcoin is the foundation of digital market. But the point is, bitcoin will never die so there is no use of wasting time over such things.
This is my stance as well, if bitcoin were to fail I will quit cryptocurrencies for good, not only because most of my money is in bitcoin but because if bitcoin cannot succeed then I find very difficult to believe any other coin will be able to get bitcoin place and perform a better job, after all most of the coins are based on bitcoin technology so if something makes bitcoin disappear it is very likely it will make alts disappear as well.
If that would happen mate, I think the other top rising currency in digital currency might be able to withstand against the crypto exchanges. One example of that is ethereum, its now following the path of bitcoin and as I've seen it for the past two years being involved with crypto currency bitcoin and other alts the situations was promising. More eth contracts coins were now exchanging ethereum for good and possible if bitcoin fails this would be the next market of the future of cryptocurrency.
No, bitcoin cannot fail just because, there needs to be a reason and the most likely scenario is some vulnerability or exploit in the code, if this happened to bitcoin it is safe to assume most coins will be susceptible to the same attack and only a few coins will survive, if you think that the crash we saw recently was a blood bath what I describe will be many times worse.

not all altcoins depend on bitcoin, some price depends on the success of the project, but bitcoin falls and grows, but at the bottom it does not remain

It's a fact bitcoin is effecting alt coins heavily and it won't change any time soon. Reason behind this is people use bitcoin as a safe house. What i am trying to say is if bitcoin keeps on falling for a long time which is not very possible , it will stop effecting alt coins after some point.

I guess without bitcoin altcoin will die also, remember that bitcoin is the mother of all currency.Altcoins are dependent on bitcoin and relating to the market they are always affected when it goes down and goes up.

My guess is that altcoins someday won't be called altcoins anymore and can co-exist more or less independently from Bitcoin.
I'm seeing it like today's stock exchange. Of course major events can cause a drop or surge of the whole market.
But most stocks just behave according to what the company does and how the people evaluate their actions and strategy.

Let's take IOTA an an example. If (this is hypothetical just as an example) let's say Volkswagen, Bosch, Daimler and many more decide to use it as their currency in cars and their industry, do you think someone will care about a Bitcoin price drop anymore? Why would someone? It's completely decoupled from Bitcoin now since there must be new possibilities in place to buy and sell Iota for fiat money. You will then use Iota in your everyday life, probably most of the people using it won't even be interested in buying or holding Bitcoin. And you don't need to.

When the market is growing it will also stabilize and lose volatility. I don't even see Bitcoin as the #1 in a few years. Maybe yes, maybe not. There are so many examples in history where market leaders just vanished when they couldn't compete anymore. So it all depends on Bitcoin's development and progress.
Too big to fail? Yeah, sure. Have a look at MySpace, Yahoo, AOL and so many more. The market doesn't give a s**t if you can't compete.

We cant deny that bitcoin is created first and it really contributes a lot of becoming crypto to be known in the community. It could really affect the entire crypto community once it collapsed or stop.  We also think that market price may always depend on bitcoin trend,  when it goes down, absolutely altcoins may down eventually.

Altcoins will have no future without bitcoin. Altcoins being called alt because they are not bitcoin. Every coins are relying on bitcoin prices, every market are only accepting bitcoin for transaction (Majority of them). Bitcoin being the main pillars and foundation of crypto as it stands above every coin. In a community, bitcoin is the leader without the leader community would be in a mess.

Altcoin may not live without bitcoin but still we can't say that yet, since altcoins are now offering good services that bitcoin can't do. Yes the value of bitcoin right now are still unstoppable but many altcoin with good services are starting to make impact in cryptoworld so everything is impossible.

I think many people enter the world of crypts to speculate, but then they realize the real potential they have, and start to see this environment with other eyes,so I think it will be a matter of time before we all rely on the world of the blockchain and the crypts.

Thinking on the higher plane of existence.
February 24, 2018, 03:38:43 AM
I think without Bitcoin alts don't have future. Bitcoin always be the fist and a lot of people associate cryptocurrency with Bitcoin. And if they lost faith in bitcoin all alts will go to the hell
Well if that's your opinion why your still here? Bitcoin proves it worthiness in its existence as a proof a new technology called blockchain. Technology like this have many applications and solve many problems like untrusted transactions because it is transparent. And also it can save us more time if we make transactions across the world since the transactions occurs in just minutes to hours unlike bank-to-bank international transactions.

Hello!

With the recent decrease in value of Bitcoin, the value of almost all the altcoins dropped too.
Now BTC is rising again and so are the altcoins.

I am thinking that if Bitcoin ever crashes, I mean completely drops to a very low value and when doesn't increase anymore.
Then the altcoins are going to drop too and won't have a high value anymore too, which means the cryptocurrency world will die.

Is my statement just nonsense or can it be correct?

I'm curious of what you all think will happen to the altcoins if BTC crashes for real.

My opinion is Anything nothing impossible, wait and see what happen with tommorow, high and low success and collaps can is normaly we much be carefully and do the best and profesional

Yes, bitcoin is currently the strongest penny in the market, I never thought bitcoin wiped out while other coins still exist. What happens if bitcoin is lost, I think the crypto market will no longer exist in the world. Many will lose their jobs. I hope the bitcoin will grow even further. Bitcoin has helped many people escape poverty.

Without Bitcoin it is not possible to survive in the market, altcoin are so popular because if Bitcoin. We have to consider Bitcoin for another 20 years and altcoins will survive in the market.

for present , yes btc is most important coin and base for all other alts .
but in future anything can be possible , blockchain technology is improving day by day and we can see better coin which may replace btc , not sure but it is not at all impossible .

For Bitcoin, it took nearly 10 years to get good market for it and if you think another altcoin which supports will need to use hybrid blockchain technology. But till, next 20 years Bitcoin will rule the cryptocurrency.

Altcoins are best alternative to invest because most altcoins are cheaper and have stable market, while Bitcoin is too expensive everyone cant afford. Bitcoin is leader in crypto market and have massive demand it will survive but altcoins are also good option for long term investment.
Altcoins stil depends on bitcoin, see how the alts graphs or prices moves when btc pump or dump, somehow there are points that it varies on what the status of bitcoin, but we still should know if that alt is worth it since it can still pump in its own.

In my opinion Altcoins will still survive without Bitcoin. Based on my observation, there are times that altcoins rises even if BTC is down. I know that people trust BTC so much than altcoins but for me everything comes and go so we better practice not to be attached on a certain thing in this world. If BTC goes down, I am sure an altcoin will surely rise. Let's just go with the flow.
Altcoin is more widely used as an alternative. People still stick to the fact that bitcoin is the most widely used digital currency and also easy to use because it is acceptable in many places. Altcoin more used as an investment because the price is cheap and if we are smart to take advantage of the situation then we can take advantage of money. I may feel pessimistic if the absence of bitcoin, bitcoin can not be eliminated and I would argue that in the absence of bitcoin altcoin will not have the current price value and even the world of digital currency will not be as busy and as good as it is now.

In the next 10 years, Bitcoin will be gradually replaced by altcoins, in particular, Ethereum with Blockchain 2.0, which ultimately overcomes the current weaknesses Bitcoin is facing. It is normal for altcoins to exist without Bitcoin because altcoins are not dependent on Bitcoin, most of the altcoins are made with the Blockchain 2.0 technology from Ethereum.
