I've not seen an addict that's violent, but one important point you failed to highlight is aggression, maybe you need to substitute violence with it.

Gambling addicts are mostly aggressive, as a result of the loses the suffer. Sometimes, when they're having a bad day, they tend to transfer the aggression on their loved ones, friends and colleagues. A friendly joke or a little effort to crack them, will end up with them lashing out as if you're the one that collected the money or ask them to gamble.

The worst thing probably is "violence", because if you are addicted with gambling, you are not calm, you will be aggressive and you might end up blaming other people for your mistake. Also, because you don't have peace of mind, you don't patience as well and that will make you violent. People are probably aggressive by nature, but as long as we are at the right state of mind, we will be able to control ourselves.

I think it's already been discussed many times in this forum and section. Many topics are about this concept, talking about the negative effects of gambling. Financial loss and gambling addiction are the same in the sense that you lose money, but the thing is, gambling addiction is the worst because even if a person doesn't have the means to keep on playing, they will keep finding ways to play without thinking about the consequences of gambling, and they will notice that they are deepening their suffering.

Many people or gamblers share their experiences in this forum about gambling, on how gambling ruin their lives or how it affects their daily lives. Everything written here is true and that is why the true gambling addiction can only be cured with professional help.A mere financial loss is already happening before the person has fallen in gambling addiction,for one person to become addicted it is needed for him to have quite some consecutive losing sessions.

The family is the one who feels the most heavy suffering from the addiction and the addicted person should be the one himself asking for help in order to save his family otherwise is a sure thing that with gambling addiction he will end up alone.

Though gambling addiction may most likely going to affect the people around that person, may it be with friends or worse with family. If anyone could remember, someone posted here a few days ago about a father who left his children in the house for more than 5 hours because he was out gambling in a local casino. That's a serious sign of gambling addiction, he lost all his sanity risking the lives of his 2 year old children because gambling has consumed his senses as if it is the most important part of his life. However, that situation may not be the worst thing that could happen to an addicted gambler, sometimes it would come to a situation where a person would took his life when he found himself in a huge debt and repaying them might seem impossible due to his current condition.
Although what has been listed in the OP as negative effects of gambling addiction may not happen to each and every addicted person, but one thing is for sure, gambling addiction means a consistent and continued financial loss and that's where the negative effects begins.

It seems like the rate of this gambling addiction is very alarming and many people are still yet to get involved becoming an addict.
I have never felt what it takes to be an addict but stating from OP point it is clear on the negative effect on gambling addiction. In as much gambling is interesting in making cool money by just prediction and assumption it could trigger some harmful practices and lead to financial instability.

Everything @OP mentioned is correct. But it is a mistake if someone uses gambling as a lifestyle. He will need more to be able to follow gambling as a lifestyle. When someone becomes a gambling addict, they will not be able to see other things that might be useful for their life.

They will fall deeper into gambling without being able to see if there is a way out or they will stay in gambling even longer. That's because gambling requires good self-control so that they don't fall into gambling. If they feel that gambling does not provide benefits, they should leave gambling.

There are still many other interesting things that they can use to get pleasure. I agree with you on that, take note that you will lose money if you are an addict or not, surely you cannot win all the games you wager; gambling addiction makes you lose things more important than money. Gambling addiction makes you lose valuable relationships, either with you spouse, children or friends; only few people would not mind associating with an addict.

Gambling addiction can cause these and so much more but we can't possibly blame it on gambling but the individual who has decided to gamble the wrong way. The base negative effects of addiction that one becomes irresponsible soon other follows as the individual would make sure he does everything possible to gamble.
A gambler that isn't responsible enough and displays theses negative behaviors in front of his kids would definitely have to see his kids grow up the wrong way. As it's said before train a child the way you should grow so when the grow the wild not depart from it.

An addiction is never a good thing in my opinion. A gambling addiction brings a lot of people around the addict pain and stress. If there are people who love and support someone before they slid into addiction, those family and friends are in for a trying time as the activities of the gambler is sure to tell on them later on.
The psychological toll it would have on the addict as well his friends and family would equally be telling.

I wouldn’t conclude that gambling addicts are prone to violent behaviors due to having a good number of losses at the casino. While there would be a significant increase in the stress in the relationship of an addict, I’d like to think people who are violent towards their partners are violent individuals and even without the aid of a gambling addiction, there may still be violent tendencies in that individual towards the spouse.
