What's not discussed here is the psychological effects of gambling addiction. Since the addict is already affected by addiction, they will always think about gambling, and that somewhat impairs them to think rationally and will always favor gambling more than any other activities in their life. This leads to the points that you have outlined, and I think it's the psychological damage that is harder to repair rather than any other effects of addiction in the addict's life.

Well I think there's no need on knowing which causes harm more. Gambling addiction will really damage you finwncially and that's the primary thing to be affected no doubt. Health related problems will come next given that your time is too consumed by this activity. But with self harm or other related abuse, it is not evident to all people who suffered from gambling addiction so I guess it is just okay so say that it depends on the individual in such conditon. Actually I am referring to a friend of mine who was diagnosed with addiction in gambling. He was losing huge amount of money and experience extreme weightloss since he doesn't eat that much whenever he's upset with the outcome. He was uncomfortable doing other things due to the drive he is feeling to gamble. Violence I think, as its effect, is not evident although he was irritated in most instances when he is not playing, he still manage to communicate and express what he is feeling without inflicting harm to both himself and other people. Probably it varies to the severity of addiction.

Gambling addiction can make you violent as you won't be happy when you're losing but you can't do anything about it as you're already addicted. You can only be wasting more money gambling only to lose them and get into debts. This is why it is really that important that you should really be avoiding yourself on getting addicted as much as possible on which you should really be that avoiding this thing in the first place.
People do usually mess up on the time that you would really be having those bad decisions. No matter what you do as long you do have that control and as long you do have that discipline

There's no way one is expected to be more comfortable in losing his money because of his addiction to gambling than when he losses it via other financial engagements like business and the likes because in other financial engagements, he'll lose his money just once and learn from but when he's addicted to gambling, he'll lose his money and is very likely to lose more because of his addiction in gambling. Your theoretical findings are quite alright and I must say that the option of personality really is the worst of it all. Imagine you being looked down on as a gambling addict. People that once revered you before begin to ignore, disrespect and neglect you all because of the fact that they discovered you are a gambler and an addict. As we know, gambling addiction can lead to divorce/separation, and from what I have read in the past, divorce/separation can negatively affect a child's upbringing which could affect them not just throughout their childhood but adulthood too.

that for me i believe is the very reason why it is not good to live with a gambling addict. because it is the immediate family who will suffer the consequences of what the gambler is acting owed to his addiction. if it is only the gambler, that's fine. but if he has small kids relying on him, that's when a lot of troubles will come in.

Gambling addiction reduces one potential in life, most gambling addicts end up not achieving anything in life because all their funds goes down to gambling even in middle of work you tend to see some of them opening there devices to confirm if the booked games are done playing and so on. This attitude of addicts brings everything even their relationships for the floor just because they attach so much attention to it.

What I've seen in life so far is that there are many different personalities, which can be a product of their upbringing and environment, but you can have people who lived poor and happy, or those who lived rich and angry - with the whole spectrum in between. If someone has got hate or nasty traits in their heart, to blame gambling on amplifying them is a bit of a cop out, if it wasn't betting they might still be likely to express those traits being triggered by something else. Stress can really mess people up and will bring out the best or the worst in some, but it doesn't excuse bad behavior. Knowing how to be a good loser, self evaluation on how to avoid that predicament in future and when to leave is one of the important things to learn in life, instead of taking it out on others.
