The gamblers should already know that gambling is a risky game and whoever is gambling, is doing it at its own risk. Those gamblers who play gambling only to make money and have no knowledge that they can lose big money in it too, should stop or at least learn the basis of gambling.

Experienced people know how to manage risk in gambling by not exposing too much of their capital in the games and also they have money management techniques so that the money lost through the games does not affect the total capital they have allocated for the gambling.

For most people, who want to earn big money from gambling, usually end up in losing money.

You are true that gambling spoils the life of gambler and his family also suffers alot from this. People often start gambling then even they realize that it is not a good thing they cannot leave because gambling is altered into addiction like intoxication.

People often says that gambling is bad thing but i will say that if people possess their mind then they will not attract towards bad things because they have given the brain to think about their life. i'm feel sorry about what happened to you and your family, but your father is a gambling addict, in this forum there are many members who gamble but are still fine, because they implement a responsible system in gambling and don't turn into gambling addicts.  Gambling has been a part of humanity for thousands of years, we will not be able to eliminate gambling on this earth, so we must be friends with this condition but still monitor it, advise ourselves and our relatives to be responsible when playing gambling.

Gamblers are now advised not to participate too much in gambling, not to get addicted due to the suffer it infects on their family like in OP’s case. Many people live with it till old age and pass it down to their kids. OP is quite lucky he escaped gambling addiction by not following his father’s footsteps. This boils down to your statement about people being able to change. Op saw that his father’s addiction is not good and he decided to change himself and everyone around him, even he extended the change to forum members. Change is difficult. Yet it takes less than 5 seconds to swap our bad gambling behavior to a responsive gambling attitude.

Although it is very difficult for a person to maintain discipline and control theirself while gambling it is definitely something that is under the person's control. Although this is a very difficult thing to achieve but when I think about myself I know that I can achieve it so I stated that many individuals can do this if they gamble in a disciplined manner. Whether it is entertainment or profit-oriented, just as you stated, every time the house wins. This is not negative ; it's an obvious fact.

Gambling is bad but if we want to give people freedom to do as they wish then we have to live with the consequences aswell. Its a really tough thing to regulate aswell because you cant really tell an adult what they can and can not do (especially as it is not classified as a crime). It is kind of like with alcohol, some people tolerate it and some dont but in the end it comes down to personal responsibility.

We can discuss what the OP said in this thread. Totally agree on this. Personally, I see gambling as a form to escape problems and stress because it brings fun and entertainment on me. And besides, before you enter or engage into something, you should know the risks that comes with it. Like for what was mentioned above, we all know that drinking alcohol is bad for our health but we still enjoy it anyways. So, what we are doing is to drink with moderateness to avoid such health problems and other effects of it like aggression and harm to others if not controlled.
And that can be the same thing in gambling. We just have to know our limits, and that we should know when to stop. Because the moment you know your limits and boundaries, such negative things will not arise and it will not do any harm unto you and others. Remember that everything should be in moderation because excessive things can really be a bad thing. But as long as you're not causing any harm, I don't think that is a bad thing.

Gambling is not for everyone, especially if that person does not have the things needed for gambling, such as self-control, capital limitations, and others.
They will only experience a lot of losses and it will be even worse if they really cannot reduce their gambling time.
You must be able to stay away from gambling because you are a victim, especially since gambling has ruined your father's life.

However, I'm pretty sure that this is more of a gambling discussion than anything related to Bitcoin since only mentioning Bitcoin doesn't make a discussion a Bitcoin-related discussion. So, this thread should probably be moved to the Gambling Discussion board, and since OP would probably not be able to do that, I will be reporting it to a mod to do that.

Coming back to the topic, I believe a person who looks at gambling for being a source of income will surely face the consequences because it is clearly not what they think of it. One should never waste all their money on gambling only with the hope that they might change their life through it because the cases of people changing their lives through gambling are very less while there are more stories of people ruining their lives through it.

Of course it is very clear, the mindset that we bring of course will greatly affect how you are when you are there, especially in terms of gambling that is very high risk. If you come with the wrong mindset and goals then obviously the negative impact will definitely be felt, so it is very important to prepare everything that can balance your profits and losses, it will be very useful to minimize everything you might not want. In terms of uncertainty yes I agree, gambling and investment are almost the same for the problem of uncertainty in the future because we cannot fully predict what will happen, but in terms of investment maybe well there is very volatile but you can do some of the best ways you have to increase your chances of profit, and well in this method problem is very different from gambling which is just pure luck.

If someone survival depends on gambling then most likely his life will not last that much longer as gambling is designed to make you lose in the long run in every possible game that implies gambling in the real meaning of it,like sport betting,slot machines,dice,roulette,blackjack,plinko and many other games.

While for gambling as an analogy in real life when we make decisions that impact our lives I have a saying that nothing is guaranteed,you can come out of your house to go to work one day and get hit by a car and as such nothing is guaranteed in life.These are two different things though.

There are people whom there survival depends on gambling and is working for them, gambling is a game of choice and is optional you have the right to decides weather to gamble or not and if someone hate it  doesn't mean others will not also like it, perhaps gambling doesn't only end on going to gambling office to place a bet but also comprises on our daily activities such as business, we risk to do business with the hope or believe of making dividends and most times we take risk to invest on a business but at last the business collapse and the money gone so gambling has gone way beyond only betting, most of the things we do on a daily basis is comprises of gambling.

Just because gambling is bad for you doesn't mean it's bad for everybody. We all have different interest and need other things to enjoy after a stressful day at work. Going out in the evening to a bar and drinking alcohol and smoking cigarettes is bad for your health and still millions of people do it every week. Objectively something might be bad and still a lot of people and enjoy it, we are all adults here and everybody needs to make up their own mind what they want to do with their time and money. As long as you are not addicted I don't see any issue with gambling and there are enough people for which it's only a form of entertainment. Don't look at gambling as a way to get rich quick, this is not going to happen.

It's quite sad that your family is messed up because of gambling, and for people who have the wrong thoughts they will also make the wrong decisions in their gambling.
However, I am quite sure that there are still many who can gamble with the right thinking, still considering it as a way to get pleasure even though money has to be sacrificed, because even if we want to get pleasure in a different way, there will still be money that has to be sacrificed, such as during holidays and so on.
Which can be quite damaging when you gamble because you want to make money, because you will keep gambling until you finally make a profit but don't realize that you have lost more than you have earned, so it becomes difficult to control yourself.
