Everyone has their own views about whether gambling is good or bad, it all depends on human behavior, sometimes when people gamble for fun, of course they really control themselves in gambling wisely, in contrast to your father, maybe he is obsessed with making money there and makes gambling a source of income. income that he never gets so that he uses up all his assets, making you suffer and ruining your future.

If you are different from your father that is a good decision, especially if you like investing in Bitcoin, everyone has their own life choices, don't imitate something that you think is bad and follow whatever you think is good, I can't say that gambling That's good or bad, so far I gamble just for fun and don't think about making money there, so in my eyes gambling is fine as long as it is well controlled and played wisely. 

It's good if you have seen what impact gambling had on your father, so you are now trying to avoid gambling. Yes, you can look for other ways to make money and because you are already getting to know Bitcoin, you can still try to make money from Bitcoin. Gambling can negatively influence a person, especially if he wants to use gambling to make money. You already know that gambling is not a place to make money so you don't need to try it. Gambling is just entertainment so we don't need to try too hard to win the game. If we want to make money, we have to look for work or other more promising ways so that we don't have to face the problems that can arise from gambling.

Everyone knows that in theory.The problem is that life is becoming more and more difficult nowadays and some people find it "useful" to gamble away some money in order to win more,especially in the sport betting where in the first look it looks very easy to do so but which in fact is completely the opposite.When these people find out they are already gambling and they have a lot of difficulty to try and move away and quit.There are only few people who are able to do it,to have the great desire and self will to quit gambling but most of the people get trashed deeper and deeper and these are the problem.

So in the end I agree gambling is not for everyone,is only for those people that when they find themselves down in the abyss can climb up out of it real fast while for the rest of the people I strongly agree with your statement.

This is very correct and in-line with what I have always maintained here. Gambling is more of psychology than anything because a bad gambling habits destroys every other thing. Someone cannot gamble with his entire savings and expect to win at once because gambling does not lead to a world of eldorado when one jettison risk management and other vital factors. The failure of his father was entirely his fault and not that of gambling.

This is the part that many are missing... gambling requires strategy and courage to follow the strategy without allowing greed to creep in. Some people actually like using small capital to target big wins

It's funny how people forget that there is risk in everything and anything that is not certain is just another form of gambling. It is good he brought this topic here... from the discussion,  others too can learn.

Talking about gambling is indeed a detrimental thing and has a bad impact but all of this is a form of entertainment a form of pleasure that some people need, when there are people who are really addicted to gambling and have a life that starts to get worse then it is the person own fault who cannot control yourself and act correctly.
On the other hand the bad effects of gambling let see that out there there are some people who can really take a lot of experience and learning from gambling such as having more patient attitude and having mind that is able to consider all forms of decisions and control emotions.

From what the OP said based on his personal experience he has father who is gambling addict and as child he should slowly give advice or just remind him that excessive gambling is wrong.

This has been heavily debated for a long time about whether gambling is bad or good but most of us will say that everything is bad if you go over it meaning if you just play less than an hour a day and are able to control yourself that it ain't giving you problems as well as your family then I would say it brought good to that gambler as it was just a form of entertainment for him but if it was the opposite lots of financial debts due to gambling as well as no time for family because of gambling then that is a bad one.

Even those who have not experienced gambling will say it is a bad one because of their religion and beliefs which we should also consider but we do have different opinions and I would say as a gambler that if you gamble responsibly then it is not bad.

Gambling game is not bad, but gambler's habit is. Even if you can stay away from gambling games, there are many other things in this world that may ruin your life if you cant control yourself. The key is yourself, not other things. Sorry to hear your story, but it had happened already and there is no need to be in deep frustration. I'm not sure how old you are, but if you are mature enough, you should start to think what you can do and give your best effort to make your life better.

Only if you have consider gambling as profession or main job that will make harm you and family. If you think and consider gambling as hobby, most likely you don't be caught in a snare. Let's don't be too total and expect too much with gambling. you have to brake and stop it if you play too much, Everything is not good if you do something too much, because there is a phase where you have to stop for a moment to enjoy your life.

It's impossible for everyone to stop or cancel gambling activities in their life, due to the fact that some player's life got crashed because of addiction. Every good thing has a bad side. The experience you had with your father OP, isn't simple. I understand what path of life you're walking on, and the emotional troubles you've faced because of your dad's addiction. This thread shows how bad you think of gambling, the best thing to do is not to engage in gambling activities. As you're more vulnerable to addiction, if you do. Living with a gambling addict, growing up, affects a child emotionally. Such kids grow up with pains, little or no parental care, get neglected and their father has no time to teach or question them about what's troubling them. Crypto is great as a substitute, yet I encourage severe precautions, for OP, while venturing in to crypto. Also no need to blame your dad for all that, pick yourself up and dust the past, then move on to a better life. Unlike Op, some kids will grow up to be like their father, that would be a catastrophe to the family.


The way people reason and take actions cannot be the same. They are law makers who gamble, they can't cancel or ban gambling in their constituency or country. I like your response, because it portrays the both ways of seeing things. In as much as how bad gambling can be to some culture or beliefs, many others use it as a fun activity and spend time and money to gain happiness in gambling. Whatever activity should be moderated or it'll cause a backward progress to people engaged to such activity, due to excessive abuse of such activity. When one doesn't look into their gambling activity, it's bad. Everywhere in the world. And it's impossible to control everybody in the world to moderate how they spend money in gambling.  Hence, societies, families, organizations etc are expected to have gambling addicts amongst them. Nothing can be done about it. Whereas the relatives to a gambling addicts are also looked upon to hate gambling entirely, due to the havoc it may have caused them. Like in Op's case. So, the increase of people who hate gambling will always surface in the society.

That is your experience and I'm sorry to read about your bad experience as long as we play with money that you can afford to lose and you don't have high expectations then you are OK, something that you failed to do I agree that gambling pose a lot of risk to your family relationship if you failed to become a responsible gambler.
It will run your finances, relationships, and your mental health too that is why we need to be on guard if gambling is becoming toxic to us.

Uhm one, gambling is bad if you're dumb, like your father (no offense, that's just how it goes you make dumb decisions you get dumb results), and two, I wouldn't rely on Bitcoin to fix a ruined life, if you have a stable one then sure go ahead, if not then just make it stable first. Probably fix your and your father's gambling addiction, and get some help from close associates if needed (and not from others really, it's a matter that concerns money after all). And to add, you can gamble, but don't be dumb about it, that's the difference between you and most average gamblers who never had a problem with it.

Well then, good for you if you can stop gambling as early as possible because it is true it can ruin your life if you abuse it and addiction will give you more problems in the future.

Bitcoin investing? Sure that might save you and give you a chance to redeem all the losses from gambling. Be sure though that you will not move it to a gambling site because you might spend it again in your bad habit. Keep it somewhere you won't have easy access with its seed phrase and just keep the public address so you can deposit anytime and anywhere you want.  
Gambling also ruined my father's life so I understand you on that. He loves betting for his own rooster and it sometimes goes as far as putting all his money in one fight and lose.

Don't make gambling a habit and don't rely on your future on it even if you are having a tough financial situation now. I hope that by returning here to crypto, you will somehow make up a good start. Try offering a service that you are good at and paid for by bitcoin. Try also to work on how to have a good source of income and slowly catch up.

As for your father, give him a good talk instead. There's no such thing as your future is dark now as you were even able to post here. Move on.

When we hate something too much, let's say gambling, what happens will only make us more curious about gambling itself. We can hate something and that's our personal prerogative, but don't overdo it. Don't let yourself keep saying that gambling is bad, only makes you miserable and doesn't have any impact, etc. Meanwhile, when you see your friend or whoever and he gets a big win, you are tempted to gamble. And or when your friend gets a big win in a gambling game, then you casually ask for a share of the winnings. This is something ridiculous and worth laughing at.
And I also often meet friends like this, he hates gambling, but when I win he casually asks me for a share of the winnings I got.

This is my standpoint as well. If you know you are a person who lacks discipline and can easily get addicted to gambling, you should stay totally away from it. I think that there is a genetic and environmental predisposition towards gambling addiction.

Another people in this category is anyone who is already experiencing the symptoms of gambling. They should also stay away from it too.

However there are people who have been able to follow healthy gambling practices and have successfully stayed outside the perimeter of gambling addiction.

You can't just appear here and advice everyone to stay away from gambling. Although it's good advice, it's up to us whether we want to gamble or not. As long as we stay responsible for our actions and know the risks we are dealing with, I see no problem at all to continue gambling.

Sad to hear that your family ended up like that. From now on, apply that advice to yourself and start making some effort now to bounce back in your life. Don't give up. Find a stable job, worked on everything good and someday you will found freedom on your financial aspects.

What about people who use a small percentage for gambling and can overcome and be wise in a gambling game, can they be worse than your father? I don't think they have a sense of responsibility they also overcome this will not happen until it is bad to destroy the family, if from you just want a quick win rich of course it will be bad in your life even lose everything.

You are turning to bitcoin for investment? Do you understand the risk of the volatility of the bitcoin market which always has high volatility, other factors that cause you not to be mentally strong if there are no fundamentals from yourself?
You returning to bitcoin is not a bad thing I say it's good, but you have to be able to survive to achieve success.

Is this your father's fault or the gambling? because casinos never force your father and everyone else to gamble, if you're interested... go ahead and if not... that's okay. In responding to this, your father was the one who went too far and was addicted to gambling, so he neglected what was his responsibility, namely the family he had to provide for and continue to guide. Because too much of anything is not good, either for our health or for our lives. And I take the example of alcoholic drinks, "when you drink alcohol in winter it is good to just warm the body, but if you drink too much and don't measure it properly it will make you drunk so you will lose consciousness and control over yourself.
So this is where we need to limit ourselves to everything we do, including gambling activities. We need these limits so that we remain in control when playing and the losses we cause can be minimized.

There are no unified laws in the world that made gambling absolutely bad and make other professions good. It is all about beliefs and Culture. Some people do not gamble and they do not also promote anything that is related to gambling. It is bad to handle gun and kill, yet some persons still handle gun and kill unofficially.
There are ountries that approves people to handle gun in the same way, there are some other countries that do not approve that their citizens handle gun.

In as much as the forum has connection with some kind of freedom. That is why everybody has the right to promote whatever they have to promote in as much as it's legal and lawful in your country and international illegal. Gambling is very bad when it is done in extreme, yet people have fun gambling.

What is bad for one is good for another, and what favoured one does not favour another. Therefore life is not in an equal way, it always unbalanced. Gambling has ruined families and individual lives and the same time gambling has helped people from poverty to rich people in the society. Like early this year, we were told that a guy in Nigeria won a very big amount of money from gambling and with that his life has changed. And if he used that money to invest in other businesses then he has set his part very well. Gambling is bad but it also help the youth. With gambling many social vices have been resolved. Boys cash out from gambling every day to settle see minor issues. When we look at the bad side gambling, equally we should also look the benefits people are taking.
