Gambling is actually option as no one is forced into the act and you are free to choose not to gamble and I feel only those who take gamble as a means of gathering and earning a living are the ones that actually get affected because if you gamble just for the joy of sport then you won't actually feel any remorse and lose. Gambling indeed is an habit that should be take seriously because it has definitely reck peoples life in so many ways but that's if you actually let it be so.

Gambling definitely has a bad effect but gambling is definitely bad for those who can't control themselves but can't get rid of the bad effects of gambling. Apart from damaging their own personal life, they also have a great bad effect on the lives of other members of their family as it happened in your life. But gambling has some bad effects as well as some good effects that a professional gambler master in himself. A professional gambler never gets out of control rather he tries to keep every member of his environment including his family free from the ill effects of gambling. But gambling is definitely a harmful game for unruly gambling families who bring curses instead of blessings.

Almost every gambler have got similar experience. This can be due to the over expectation and lack of understanding about gambling. His father had gambled and ruined himself as well as the family. This had served as a learning, if not OP might've got engaged into gambling. Everyone have got certain reasons to stay away from gambling. For me it is the personal experience that keeps me under control than going for big bets. Gambling is good, and this shouldn't go beyond limits as well as should not affect of living at any circumstances.

And i do understand that you want to warn others, but you should rather educate him on why he shouldn't be gamblingm about the odds and risks, and how he might not understand odds even if he thinks so. And continue explaining how irresponsible he is and how he is hurting you. Because not every gambler is irresponsible and playing their family money. I am guessing he could have wasted that money in some other way as well if he was

The OP has bad experience owed to his father's actions towards gambling.
Gambling is indeed detrimental if not managed properly, so the impact heavily relies on the gambler himself.
Such situation anyway is not true for some gamblers, if handled responsibly. But sadly, a lot are being addicted to this activity.
Hence, the bad repercussions felt by most immediate families. Now, that the OP is here, I think he will have different insight on this upon reading opinions and threads in this forum.

Gambling is also a source of income because there are a lot of people who do not have any other place to invest their only introduce themselves to gambling. Therefore, I disagree with your ideas. Just say that you don't have experience with it and live with people who have knowledge about it because anything now depends on knowledge. Why should I hold it against them is that they didn't take it permanent, and Because it would be better for them to steal or engage in other bad behavior. Them too understand that it's matter of time it just temporary before another opportunity presented itself.

Gambling is not for everyone as it was never designed for all. If you must know, many things in life are gambling... going to the university is gambling because there is no guaranty that you will get a job and become rich after graduation. Buying stocks, cryptocurrency and even real estate all fall into gambling because there is no guaranty that you will make profits. So, I suggest you seek understanding of what gambling should be and should not be before drawing your conclusion. While you feel gambling is not good, a lot of people are actually making a living off it. I have known a couple of successful gamblers. If you feel what we know here as gambling is not for you, then seek other ways of making money.
To me, I think people should fix their psychology before venturing into gambling. This way, we will see less of posts like this. Meanwhile, "no risk, no reward"

You can also tell this to the millions of people that are being indirectly fed by the gambling industry. Gambling is only bad for those who aren't responsible of their money, otherwise it's a form of entertainment, just like a lot of other people paying money to go to the cinema, buying items for their hobbies, and people idolizing individuals and buying their merch. What you said is totally true. OP has a very negative perception about gambling due to his personal experience with his father who ruined the life of the family because his addiction. Therefore, it's normal OP is traumatized with this practice and will blame everything related to gambling. I believe we should respect it, as we probably would feel the same way if we had a very negative experience with gambling as well.However, it's important to have the consciousness gambling has its benefits which shouldn't be forgotten. Many people are making an income thanks to the opportunity they have found to work for a casino, being it virtual or land based.

Totally be that on case to case basis on which we know that each person does have their own approach and insights on what gambling is and on how it would really be affecting them.In the first place then if someone do sees it as a form of entertainment (which truly is) then it should really be just that fine and they wont really be putting up themselves on the possible condition on getting addicted to it, comparing into those people who are anticipating the different or the other path which is to make easy money then this is where real problem do really kicks in.

I do not think we should be too biased about gambling. This is all about learning how to control your emotions and the way you spend your money when it comes to winning and losing streaks in gambling.
Don’t try to be greedy as it would make you end up losing all of your hard earned funds just for the irresponsible gambling.
You just need to know how to manage your risks very well in any form of gambling.

I agree with OP, it's bad for you... most of the time. The problem is, it's like alcohol and smoking. It's usually bad, but there are benefits of doing it and many people just like doing it.
You can explain all you want that drinking 5 beers a day is unhealthy, but a guy who loves beer and does just that will tell you "I know but I like it so much."

In speaking about Gambling then these are the main points;1. It should really be just that for fun
2. Dont make yourself greedy and dont make it as an income
3. It is really just that for leisure or past time
On the time that you do really go overboard and would really be passing up into those border lines about limitations on how you should be dealing with gambling then this is where problem

I know a few gamblers, but everyone has lost a lot of funds in gambling. Surprisingly, they are still involved in gambling; I really don't know why. Still, I haven't found any gamblers who are gainers. However, there would be few winners, and probably that's why people are still gambling. For me, I always try to stay away from gambling. Rather, I am more interested in playing with Bitcoin and making money. Its easy for me, though crypto investment is also quite risky, but better than gambling to me. At least I am not going to lose everything, because crypto would recover anytime where gambling is fully different.

Sorry for your father but that's something we call gambling addiction, the gambling isn't that bad if we look it as a form of entertainment but when someone gets addicted to it then that's not a good thing. I always believe that gambling has a negative reaction towards majority of the people. But for me, it will only be bad if the gambler itself is doing it just to satisfy his greed more than entertaining himself. With that, he’s bound to fall as gambling addict and eventually gamble all his belongings for the sake of chasing instant profits. Until he found out lately that he’s losing everything he has because of uncontrollable gambling habit and gradually ruin his life and his future including his family’s future as well.
